It's Women's History Month! So I'm excited to write a review about a beloved woman-owned biz. It's…read morebeen a couple of years since I worked with NDDA to assist me with our first born daughter born in 2021. Melissa at NDDA was incredible from start to finish. When I originally called to ask some general questions about what exactly a doula does, she was kind, patient, and so freaking educated about the process of childbirth. We were offered a tour of Baylor hospital (virtual due to COVID), newborn classes, and tons of educational resources after booking with NDDA. What stood out to me most was the fact that the all female team there just made you feel like you were so seen, every step of the way. As a Black woman, childbirth can be an extremely scary experience, just look up the statistics of mistreatment in the healthcare space for minorities. Melissa and team advocated for my husband and I. We felt taken care of every step of the way. Thank you NDDA!

My primary reason too for picking this place was the fact they offer a beautiful placenta art print. I wanted to honor my placenta because it's such an incredible and powerful organ, and I'm obsessed with the art prints. They're both framed and are hanging up in my daughters' room. I've worked with Meredith L. and Madison Prez for the placenta encapsulation. They were both very easy to contact and responded promptly over text. I worked with Madison most recently, and she picked up the placenta and quickly processed it and delivered it to my home. I got placenta pills, a tincture, the keepsake cord, and the art print. I love the packaging and branding too- very alice in wonderland. I highly recommend this service and would work with Madison again. The art print she made was stunning!

Absolute garbage…read more First appointment here. After waiting for about a half hour to be called for intake info and completing everything they need from me, I am waiting to give a blood test, and take off my sweatshirt. Everyone stops to stare for a moment, while I said something along the lines of "I know what you're thinking..." because everyone seems to be intimidated to insert an IV because of my tattoos. After what felt like decades, some entitled, opinionated, and visibly miserable "supervisor" walks out of her room, stands next to me, gives me an up & down look, then looks at the agent at the counter and just simply shakes her head at her with a face of disgust, then proceeds to walk back into her cave, as if she's the lords gift! Well apparently, they CANNOT DRAW PLASMA IF YOU HAVE TATTOOS!??!? Never heard this from any medical "professional" before, nor is it stated ANYWHERE on the website! So clearly I'm feeling a bit singled out here. I asked the agent that was helping me if this is normal, or if they have issues with anyone else, and she replied that they do! And I even asked that they PLEASE put that on their website, or "forward to the appropriate individual that actually cares..." because their alleged "supervisor" clearly did not, and because they've wasted hours of my life (researching the location I feel comfortable and convenient online, set an appointment, prepped last night and this morning, and took time off from work for), but also wasted their time too. I guess the fact that my hands are cover in tattoos wasn't enough indication that my arms were also tattooed, during my intake process?! A lot of things should be done differently here. Treating people who are donating plasma without respect for no reason is one of many I can think of. I would NEVER recommend anyone go here, tattoos or not. You never know how you'll be treated.

I saw this sign on a gas station that said you could make money by donating plasma, so with…read moreCovid-19 and times being tough I decided to check it out. I work in Dallas, so going to this location was a trek, but it looked nice in pictures so I decided to give it a try. Big mistake. Just leaving the center for the 4th time being turned away for not having something correct on paperwork from my doctor. 4th people, haven't gotten past the physical, no plasma given. I have been lucky enough to have neck surgery twice in the past year. They asked that my doctor fill out a piece of paper saying they didn't use some kind of cement that would make me have an allergic reaction. No biggie. I simply scanned and sent to my doctors email and received my form back quickly. After work another day, I decided to proudly take my form back and give plasma. Negative. After waiting an hour to see a nurse, I was informed that I still couldn't give because my doctor didn't fill out the physical piece of paper with holes punched in it that they gave me. There was even a box to check if I could give plasma 2xs a week, and my doctor approved. By this time it's after work and they close at 6, my doctors office closes at 5, in Plano. Day 3, physically drive to Plano and explain to the receptionist exactly what they need, except my doctor was in surgery that day, so waited a week to get papers in the mail. Tried for the 3rd time to find out the doctor didn't fully give them everything. After dropping off the original paperwork in Plano I was sent home to wait another week on snail mail, yet again. 4th time trying to donate today and was informed my papers had a wrong time/day stamp. The nurse then informed me that even though the doctor only works on Wednesdays, for the morning only that I would have to wait another week bc the doctor was only there for a few hours. The phrase, "jumping through hoops" would be easier than getting approval by this place. If plasma is needed so bad, why do they make it impossible? It was actually suggested by an employee there to see if they were more lenient at another plasma place. Wow. I literally wasted a month trying to do what was asked. The moral of my story is that if you have any kind of surgery, you will have to get all kinds of unnecessary paperwork from your doctor. My advice, find another way to make a little extra money, save time and go somewhere else.

I usually kno my schedule for the following week on Fridays so I go 2 schedule my next donation for the following Monday just 2 find out i was deferred in the entire system. I'm thinking it's at the new plasma ctr bcuz I'd just taken a physical and donated the past Wednesday. Igo to they're center and they inform me that it was Preosis had deferred me in the system and gave me the name and number of who sent the email and the number to contact them. After several calls there was no response over the few days. Finally i go up to the centre in person to be informed in my last donation[ which was the previous Monday] my plasma had a reaction to some type of HIV bacteria. I'm thinking 2 myself that's impossible, I'm 60yrs old, I've bn separated for a yr1/2 hvnt had any type of sexual encounters since that time AND not only had i taken a recent physical for my job but also for Proesis and the new plasma center in that time frame. I immediately leave proesis and rush to the health department historical 2 say the last, just 2 find out what i already knew, that i was NEGATIVE for any type of hiv bacteria or virus. Since I'm not in the area of the preosis ctr im back calling and leaving messages[ 2 no avail] to send them my results and get this deferral over with. Honestly i believe someone at preosis jumped the gun and presumed i had donated in both locations NOT within t he 7day waiting period and immediately deferred me. For a center to discover a patient has a reaction and may have the HIV virus, there has bn no reach out to me WHAT SO EVER by phone,,email NOTHING!! Until i discover I've bn deferred while scheduling a appointment for another center. There was no sense of urgency from them b4 AND CERTAINLY i hvnt bn able to contact anyone to hv them my negative results. If there was a medical emergency this center surely lacks the professionalism to alert or communicate with they're donars. Since i can't get them on the phone and can't get 2 the centre b4 they close this is dragging out until i can AGAIN GO TO PREOSIS IN PERSON. j the mean time not being able to donate ANYWHERE for a false diagnosis....u can't make this up!!!!

Workers have verbalized this to patients and are slow to respond to machines. Drove 3 different days this week from 30 mins away to be turned away for pulse. They only allow two checks. When discussing with a manager my frustrations, she was understanding in person, but banned my account without advising me. She banned me for opening the door in a frustrated manner as I was making my exit. There was zero notification of this change in the app where appointments are made. When I arrived at the location my appointment disappeared from my app. Waited 20 minutes to be told why this happened. They advised me to wait for management to be available and that would be hours because of being understaffed and number of patients. Extremely disappointed that I can't continue to give plasma to patients who are in need because of simple frustration. Choose another location if you have expectations.

A Heartfelt Warning About Methodist Hospital - My Experience as a Husband…read more In my opinion, I cannot recommend Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas, based on my recent experiences as a husband dealing with my wife's critical health situation in the ICU. Despite my efforts to advocate for her care, I encountered significant barriers that truly compromised both my rights and her well-being. As her husband, I understand that I have the right to be involved in her healthcare decisions, to be by her side during this challenging time, and to receive updates about her condition. Unfortunately, I felt that these rights were not respected at this facility. Throughout my time at the hospital, I repeatedly expressed my concerns and tried to communicate on behalf of my wife, who was unable to speak for herself. Yet, I was often met with resistance. On several occasions, I was asked to leave the hospital after attempting to speak with healthcare professionals about her medical needs. This treatment left me feeling helpless and frustrated, especially when all I wanted was to be there for my wife--to make sure she was receiving appropriate care and the medications she needed. In my opinion, the staff seemed more focused on limiting my involvement rather than collaborating with me in her care. I encountered numerous instances where my requests were dismissed, and my presence was challenged, which exacerbated an already stressful situation. To be sidelined as her primary support and decision-maker felt not only unjust but also emotionally devastating for both of us. Moreover, I witnessed my wife's distress during her stay, experiencing panic attacks and discomfort from being separated from me, her advocate. I believe that the ability for family members to support their loved ones should be a priority, especially when they are vulnerable and in need of compassion and understanding. This experience has left me emotionally compromised and questioning the hospital's commitment to patients and their families. In my opinion, anyone considering bringing a loved one to this facility should think twice. You may find that, rather than receiving the support and care you expect, you could face overwhelming obstacles that complicate an already difficult situation. My intention in sharing this is to protect others from what we endured. The focus should be on the health and well-being of the patient, their rights, and the support their family members provide. Based on my experience, it felt as though the hospital prioritized rigid policies over patient-centered care, leaving me feeling powerless during a critical time in my wife's life. To those reading this review, I implore you to consider the implications of bringing a loved one to Methodist Hospital. In my opinion, the potential stress, anxiety, and heartache from navigating the challenges of their system could overshadow the care your loved one truly needs. Before making a decision, think carefully about whether this hospital aligns with your values and the level of support you hope to provide. Your loved ones deserve compassion, understanding, and accessible care, especially in their most vulnerable moments. In my opinion, no spouse should have to fight for their right to support their partner during a health crisis. I hope that sharing my experience can help others avoid the difficult path that I and my wife have faced. Thank you for taking the time to read my review. I hope for improvements in the way this hospital handles patient and family rights to ensure no one else has to endure what we did.

My CT showed severe advancing degenerative disc disease and the radiologist recommended an urgent MRI. The ER refused to admit me, refused to order the recommended MRI, refused an orthopedic consult, and falsely documented my reason for visit as social work rather than acute injuries. My walking cane was lost by the facility and despite contacting guest services, no one has made any effort to locate it. The level of disregard for a seriously ill disabled patient was shocking. I will be filing complaints with the Texas Medical Board, Disability Rights Texas, and pursuing further action. I do not recommend this facility to anyone who is disabled or seriously ill and needs to be taken seriously.
