This is another plasma center that I went to donate (2 times total). I went there because my hematocrit was too low one day donating at another center (see note at bottom). Their location is HUGE with a lot of staff. The machines were nice and it took little to no time setting the machines up by the staff and donating. Downsides: Like most places, they have an app. BUT, you have to schedule a time to donate. If you miss your time, you have to hope someone else misses their to take their place, or have to come back another day! Long drive all the way to Middletown. They have a child care center, where apparently you can drop off your kids while you donate?(just seems weird) read more

Staff are friendly at times, but frequently seem uncaring related to your time and will let you sit on the machine waiting to disconnected while they run past you many times. At other times they are very efficient. As a nurse I have a concern about them not having a call light to get someone's attention if needed. Lot's of things can go wrong so there should be a notification system of some kind if your feeling faint, sick ect. Today I answered the questions required to donate, then ran out to my car to get my earbuds. I forgot to put them in. They said I couldn't donate because I ran back to my car. Per this employee this is posted all over the center, but I've never seen it. I want to continue donating as it helps others and myself too. But its getting to be a real hassle. read more

Weeks later, this still upsets me. I want to emphasize that if my mom hadn't informed me--since I'm adopted--I would have never known about this condition. There are so many non-transmissible conditions that the staff at this establishment are seemingly unaware of. Denying me because of something from my distant past is like denying someone who might possibly have a stroke in 20 years. Everything is possible, but their approach is overly cautious and unreasonable. This kind of blanket policy not only wastes time and money but also unfairly discriminates against individuals based on irrelevant medical history. I've been going to BioLife for awhile now and I've never had any problems until these past few months. Usually it only takes about an hour to go in donate and get out. But recently it's been taking over an hour until I even get to the donating bed...and then another hour just to donate. I'd say unless you have the $1200 new donor promo, then it's not worth it. Seems they are low staffed and are not properly training their new staff. Attached is a picture of my arm from my last donation (7 days ago). What happened was a new employee sticked me wrong and proceeded to go find someone to help. While she's trying to find someone to help this needle is still on my arm and it was excruciating pain as if it went into a muscle. Blood was also running down my arm because it wasn't properly in the vein. All of this chaos caused me to be at BioLife for over 4 hours...definitely not worth the $20. I then attempted to donate 2 days after in the other arm to be told that my pulse is too high (102 isn't that high). Keep in mind I drive an hour to get to the center plus I've already waited 40min to get to the vitals station and now they will not let me donate. Waisted time and money... Very rude, takes a super long time just to wait to be admitted, I had a digital copy of my social security card and I had my physical state ID. They had me wait for over an hour just for them to tell me I can't be admitted without my physical SSC, which was untrue because my partner used his digital SSC for his first visit with no problem, they just entered my name wrong because I have two last names and they entered the wrong one after I told them twice which one to enter. No bedside manner at all, the lady that came to me after the first guy (who left without saying anything to anyone and told me that my digital SSC would WORK) was so rude and nasty, had an attitude about it after I told her that I was told it would work and she just kept saying you can't go through with this appointment without the physical copy (which wouldn't make ANY difference because it looks the exact same all they need to do is enter the information from it). I have been donating here for almost a year and things have always been fine. The pay was great and it wasn't hard to just go and sit there while you are doing something good. Kind of like killing two birds with one stone. The only problem is when I had come back from not coming for a few months there were a lot of new employees. The process took 2 hours overall which would usually only take 45 minutes. Everything went well after I started donating except for the last 30mL that I had left to donate. The machine made its usual ring signaling that something was wrong, so a new employee I had never seen came over. She was pulling the needle in and out, of my right arm, multiple times until she said, "I honestly don't like needles and am afraid of this, let me go get someone who is better". Which coming from someone who works where you prick and insert needles into people everyday is a bit concerning. So she brought over another employee who did the exact same thing pulling the needle in and out until going to get the supervisor. The supervisor took the needle out immediately and when I asked him what was wrong he said he didn't know. At this point my hand was numb and my arm was somewhat in pain but I didn't think much of it. The supervisor then put the needle in my other arm to finish off. After I finished my vein was either not in the right place or something and when the saline was supposed to go back in it just started to form a huge bump under my skin. Before I left they had me stay another 15 minutes to make sure I was good to go and wouldn't faint; which I understand because I didn't receive any saline back. However the supervisor did give me a sheet of paper that told me what to do in order to help fix the mistake the original employee created. I have since then been doing what the sheet stated to do and in all honesty nothing has helped and my arm STILL HURTS. It has now been a week and the bruise on my right arm has only been getting bigger. I can't move my arm more than 90 degrees and can barely move it out very far. I don't know how much longer the bruise will continue to grow or the pain will continue but I will say how angry and upset I am with the new employee for messing this up. I am now considering myself a retired plasma donor and will never be recommending this as a way to make money to anyone again. If you ever get someone named Ellen trying to stick your vein- get someone else to do whatever it is she is trying to do. read more

Been going here for the past couple months now and let me just say. GO ELSE WHERE! The staff here and management at this location is just unbelievable. Incompetent people who don't how to take your BP or even put a needle in you. Also will say that the people here need more attention and be taught correctly. The amount of stories I hear the staff gossip about the lack of training and how incompetent mangle the can be for training for the staff here! So once again everybody reading this, GO ELSE WHERE. I'm not going to lie, but I was very skeptical about going here to donate. I've heard story's about CSL Plasma. And how they are very unprofessional, rude and simply ghetto! It was actually the complete opposite. They are very nice, clean and very friendly. Their set up is by appointment only which is nice, because others like CSL plasma is a first come first basis. The donation process is very easy, a nurse tells you what is about to happen and answers any and all questions. They have a tag for all first time donors which is nice and the nurse check in on you during the donation process. The whole process for first time donors takes about 2 hours! It starts with a questioner, then you talk to a nurse who explains the process, along with finalizing you in the system. They give you a prepaid debit card and explain how much you get paid on your first donation. After your first donation all the other donations take about an hour of your time. They even provide child care to infants. The door is constantly locked and can only be opened from the inside. So your kids are always safe. They constantly have promotions going on so the amount of money that one gets from donating is different month to month. If you are looking for an easy way to make money I would recommend donating. I'm not a big fan of needles but I always like having a bit of extra cash in my pocket. read more

I haven't been to this facility in several months due to illness. Today I went to donate but was told after an unpleasant exchange with the front greeting individual that I was NOT going to donate. She wanted me to put on a mask which she assumed I knew was still the protocol. I told her I had one and would put it on in just a second since I was doing two things at once. I told her she didn't have to be huffy and she told me I was being so. I apologized and told her I really did have a mask and would mask up in a second. That wasn't good enough, and was told to leave. read more

Drove 45 minutes to donate. I am covid vaccinated. Took my initial temperature from a forehead read device and it was fine. Go back and have my finger pricked, weight taken, then they go to take my temperature with the traditional thermometer. Comes in 99.8. Very odd as my temperature had literally JUST BEEN TAKEN and was fine. When I asked then about this I was told "the original forehead thermometer was not a calibrated device". Ok fair enough, I ask for a 2nd reading. Sorry they won't do 2nd reading and I'm unable to donate for 2 more days. Go back to sit down and wait for my friend to finish. Then the same nurse, who I suspect screwed up my reading, tells me "you have to leave the building it's Covid protocol". I am vaccinated and clearly did not have a temperature! Beyond unprofessional and rude the entire time. I will be filing a formal complaint against the employee who clearly had some kind of issue with me. Beyond frustrated with these assholes. Not able to donate, ok. Kicking me out of the building, which they had not originally said, but felt the need to come over after I went and sat down and enforce after the fact? so I had to wait outside? It's 30 degrees out.
