It is my opinion as both client and doctor, that Coaches Mark Whitener and John Seiler have created something very special. Although I have exercised in a gym setting for many years, and have been a personal trainer and group fitness instructor myself, I had never lifted very heavy before starting at Gateway CrossFit. I have gained considerable strength and to my surprise and delight, have been enjoying the most amazing 'flexible strength' in my yoga practice. It's truly empowering! The coaches not only scale workouts individually for their clients, they personally create unique programs for each individual client. Believe me, it works! As a chiropractor, I have seen wonderful things from Gateway CrossFit. John and Mark have the requisite skill to recognize warning signs in their clients and head them off. They proactively refer clients to my office to deal with pre-existing issues as well as the kind of minor problems that occur with most active individuals. Even when a client does come into the office in distress, they are quick to heal, and miss little gym time because I am confident that the coaches will rein in the workouts while the client is recovering. In fact, the functional movements they utilize in their workouts - like basic human movement patterns - make great rehabilitation protocols when scaled appropriately. I love Leslie's 60 min class on Sunday at noon ("VIOLENCE!!") and the Wednesday evening Box+Flow (i do not do enough stretching, so im grateful yoga is on offer). With the 4-pack, I have to choose one or the other each week, but I'd like to go to both. Sometimes I have to miss a class I reserved, and usually I just eat the credit. The staff are nice. It's a great workout. If you are thinking of picking it up, I think you can't really go wrong with any of the offerings here!

True definition of hurts SO good!…read more I've always been an avid fan of this sport but never imagined taking any classes. I was introduced to this place from a friend two years ago and have been coming ever since. When I first came, I was able to use a 7-day pass and take a few classes. I was nervous because I hate not being good at anything (especially when it comes to sports) but also because I didn't know what to expect. The first class I ever took was Mimi's class at 10am. I was able to meet with her before class to go over the basics. It made me feel comfortable, especially since I didn't know what I was doing! For that class, It's an hourlong and consists of a warm up, 8-rounds three minutes each of boxing combos, and then 14 minutes of abs and core. While she has since left, Dominic has taken over and I believe still keeps the same format. Over the last two years, I've tried out several classes and instructors, but have grown to love the 45 min class on Saturday's taught by Drea. She's engaging with the class, thorough with her instructions, has challenging workouts and the BEST music! She wasn't here yesterday and the class was taught by Jaffet instead. One thing I appreciate about this place, aside from the bomb music they play, is the consistency. No matter who's teaching, I'll always get in a good workout, learn new combos/ moves I'm unfamiliar with and leave feeling like I just conquered the world! Yesterday was no different and I was really happy with the class overall. If you're looking for a change in your workouts, a rush of endorphins, and feeling accomplished, look no further than SLBC! They have classes every day of the week and have something for everyone no matter what skill level. If you're not quite ready to commit to a membership, you can always pay per class as well! Pathetically expressing my need for truly working out and admitting I'm a cardio person but lack in strength endurance. My motivation was the cruise I am leaving for in just a few days. For the last several weeks I've arrived for my training sessions with Brian ready to sweat. I tried the (3) personal one on one's and then opted for the 10 sessions with small group. Brian is educated and knowledgeable; this is not a high school boy training you at Club Fitness. Brian's dedication to health and wellness is apparent as he helps me and hopefully you, to understand your goals! He does have a background in the medical field, so rest assure he won't over extend your bodies potential. When I first started at Red, I was nervous and intimidated. Not that I'm abnormally overweight or unhealthy but I knew that I was going to be facing some fears of pushing my limits. And since working with Brian, I've taken up running, 2 miles a few times a week. I am even more aware of what I eat and how much I eat. I believe that the financial investment into my body and wellness is a driving factor in waking up while on vacation to run and workout! I have to now talk about Red, the Fitness Lounge. It's beautifully coated in red paint with black accents and my favorite part the chandelier! Oh and the bathroom, it's huge and nicely decorated and smells good. And they don't use that industrial style hand soap; it's the nice smelling stuff. Ok, back to the gym... The equipment is all nice and well kept and the towels are on them, so just bring you H2O! You won't find a treadmill or an elliptical here, but you will find the stair climber, eeek! It burns, but in a good way! Now before making a commitment I did some research on Jamie, he's the owner. Let's just say this isn't Jamie's first rodeo with a gym or training people. Jamie is often in the gym or shall I say lounge when I am there, he's really a nice guy, funny too. Ask him to play your favorite 80's workout and he might bust a move. All in all I have experienced physical fitness that's worthwhile and fun. If you are thinking of starting a weightless plan, maybe want to tone up like I do, or you have another goal in mind. Don't hesitate!! Try it out, start slow and sample the trial they offer. If it's not for you then no worries, but if you truly want to be fit, you will be back!! The one thing that intrigued me was something I read on a posting by Jamie.... It was something to the effect of it takes 4 weeks for you to notice, 8 for others and 12 for everyone. I wanted to see how great I could look in 12 weeks! :) And then keep going! :) So, who wants to join me???

The trainers are all excellent if that's your thing, but the atmosphere for solo workouts is what really drew me in. The gym is clean, well-stocked on amenities, and you have access to just about every piece of equipment you can think of despite their small footprint. The best part though is that I NEVER encountered a big crowd. At my previous gym in Los Angeles I was paying 6 times the amount per month to wait in line for free weights. Here I could crank out a full workout at any time of day (thanks to their 24-hour access for members) with no hassle or queues. When I come back around to visit family over the holidays, Titanium will be my one and only fitness stop.
