Paella, peacocks & an olive grove?! Yes, please!…read more We spent Saturday evening at Olive Land Farms in Hastings, just outside St. Augustine, and had such a fun, unique experience. This is definitely not your typical dinner out. The Saturday Paella Fiesta includes tapas, an olive oil tasting, a walk around the farm, and visits with the cows, goats, chickens, geese, and peacocks. Then it's time for a family-style paella dinner under the olive trees, with seafood or vegetable paella, sangria, and flan. The setting is what really makes it special. With thousands of olive trees, farm animals, and a beautiful sunset, it feels like a little escape without having to go far. We also stopped by the farm shop for some olive oil and goodies to take home. If you're looking for something different to do on a Saturday night, this is definitely worth checking out. Good food, beautiful scenery, and a relaxed atmosphere make Olive Land Farms a memorable experience. Olive Land Farms 8470 Reid Road, Hastings, FL

A Truly Special Farm Experience!…read more What a wonderful evening at Olive Land Farms! This is so much more than a dinner -- it's a beautiful family experience filled with incredible food, warm hospitality, and the kind of personal service that makes you feel like a guest in someone's home. Although the owners, Olga and Henry, were not there during our visit, we had the pleasure of meeting the rest of their amazing family, and everyone was so welcoming and hospitable. Jennifer, their daughter and an incredible chef, prepared the most delicious paella and flan -- both were absolutely outstanding! Cecilia, their granddaughter, gave us a wonderful olive oil tasting and shared so much about their products. Emilia took us on a fun farm tour in the golf cart, where we got to explore the property and see all the animals and olive trees. And Selena was wonderful with the social media side, helping capture the experience and making everyone feel so welcome. The service was excellent from beginning to end, and you can truly feel the love this family has for their farm and for sharing it with visitors. Eating fresh paella under the olive trees as the sun went down was such a memorable experience. If you're looking for something unique to do in the St. Augustine/Hastings area, definitely put Olive Land Farms on your list! Come hungry, stay awhile, enjoy the farm, meet this wonderful family, and don't leave without taking home some of their delicious olive oil. Highly recommend -- we can't wait to come back!

We got there a bit later than expected so went straight to the blueberry fields- they had a variety of varieties, just starting to ripen, will be lots of picking for the next few weeks- priced by the pound they are a great value compared to store prices - we went for the large berries to make jam, syrup and pies, the petite ones would be perfect for muffins and pancakes- it was a wonderful morning with my son and well worth the drive.

For the 2017 season, they charged $3 per pound for U-Pick and $4 per pound for We-Pick [They-Pick]. The prices are way cheaper than the grocery store and you support a family-owned local Florida blueberry farm instead of getting your blueberries from Chile or New Zealand during off-season. We buy in bulk and freeze the rest. When the farm is open to the public and you would rather just pick up some blueberries instead of picking (it's usually pretty hot during blueberry season), it's recommended you call ahead so they can have your blueberries ready for you. Definitely worth the drive and something fun for the whole family. Remember, season is short so don't forget to mark your calendars for next season! :)

I head straight to Miller's Blueberry tent for fresh blueberries. This year, a full 5 lbs. box was $40 so I decided to wait on those... This year, the homemade Blueberry Pies were sold out by 8AM, I was told and they were $20 each. There were 600 blueberry pies made, but I was there specifically for the pancake breakfast. The blueberry pancake breakfast was $10 per person this year and definitely the best value of the entire festival, IMHO. We had a choice of 2 or 3 large pancakes filled with tons of fresh blueberries and a delicious side of home-made blueberry compote. The pancakes came with a generous portion of smoked sausage along with unlimited fresh orange juice, coffee and milk. Plenty of indoor seating! They had a ton of interesting local vendors and food truck options available. I picked up some Datil Blueberry Honey and Saw Palmetto Honey after trying many free samples. Overall, it's absolutely worth the time and effort to make it to the BBF. They are well established, extremely organized and have plenty of volunteers for this family fun event.
