There are two children's play places, swings, basketball court, and tennis court. There are also a couple of picnic tables. Since it's close, I will be walking near or through it often. It also hugs interstate 64. There are many trees around the park but I'm going to make it a point to walk through it this fall when the leaves fall. I'm almost positive you can watch the traffic on the interstate and see a great shot of downtown if the leaves were gone. On a Friday evening, we had the park all to ourselves. I don't think I'd go out of my way to visit this park but if you're in the neighborhood, stop in and check it out.

"Quaint" is the best word to describe Clifton Park. It's definitely in a location that you'd have…read moreto actively seek out, and while they do have some surprisingly impressive amenities (water refill station, two playground sets, etc), they lack some common sense features as well (most notably bathrooms). It also has to be one of the least busy Louisville parks; even on summer weekends, it's not uncommon to have the park to yourself for a while. Clifton Park will likely leave a positive first impression on families, since the bigger of the two playgrounds is in great condition. It even includes a bright orange bridge that looks like a smilin' sunfish - if that isn't welcoming, I don't know what is! Unfortunately, the other facilities are noticeably worn by comparison, with the tennis court being the biggest offender. Perhaps because of the lack of foot traffic, it doesn't seem like the city gives this park much TLC - though on the bright side, it doesn't get hit with much litter either. There isn't much here for adults beyond some sunrise/sunset/skyline views, but it's a reasonable option if your kids are feeling restless. Keep them careful around the left fence, though; there are some shady-looking openings which lead to the hills overlooking the interstate, and perhaps some "Louisville weirdness" within the trees. (Unfortunately, the swing set is close to that fence.)

And parks are a lot like hotels in that if they aren't maintained and if resources aren't put into that maintenance, it can go south pretty quickly. Ballard Park is over 100 years old, but until very recently it was not much more than a couple of neglected basketball courts and a lot of weeds. But thankfully someone took notice and this park was put on the short list for a glow-up. It's too small to have a splash pad and nobody is going to mistake it for Playport, but they really did a nice job with things that will serve the neighborhood well. The basketball court looks great, and the kids' playground is a tower of beauty. There are picnic tables, a water fountain, a shelter, and a good amount of greenery mixed in. Very grateful to see this neglected space get a facelift -- there are a lot of houses and a lot of kids within walking distance who are going to benefit greatly from the new development.

Such an awesome park and so well laid out with something for everyone in mind....and it's massive!…read more This place has a huge playground suited for toddlers and big kids as well as an adjoining splash park perfect for those hot summer days. There are also tennis courts, basketball courts, pickleball, and other sports fields. Bravo to all those that contributed in the vision and buildout for this place as it was long overdue for the community but such a great use of tax revenues.

The facility has several soccer fields, baseball fields, a nice upgrades playground and even and outdoor fitness center for the community. I've taken the kids here a few times to play on the playground and recently went here to watch my daughters friend soccer game. Really nice facility to host sporting events with ample enough parking and wide open spaces. Overall a very nice addition to the mount Washington community and a very fine place to either play and relax or take in or participate in a sporting event.

Attended a 80's theme free summer show at this park. More shows are coming up (see picture) that…read morestart at 6:30 pm. The MTV band played multiple sets with 15 minutes breaks in between. People sat on lawn chairs and park benches to enjoy the music. Some people walked the trails as kids rode bikes. There were food trucks and other vendors selling various offering from pizza, burgers, and more. Enjoyed hearing the music and we parked in baseball fields directed by staff. The show played til 10 pm. It was a blast from the past.

This is such a clean, medium-sized park that is located next to the police station off the Outer…read moreLoop. The park has something for everyone: basketball courts, a soccer field, baseball field, tennis courts, a playground for children, and my favorite- a 0.7 mile paved walking path with 2 loops. Benches and picnic tables are scattered throughout the park. There is even a 'little library,' a bring one-take one deal. There are restrooms within the park, but they were closed for the season during my visit. The park was very well maintained and I felt totally safe there. I understand that there are frequent events held within the park in the warmer months. Our navigation app took us to the front of the park, so we parked in the police parking lot, assuming the park did not have parking of its own. We later learned that the park has a large parking lot. It is located behind the park, and is accessible from a nearby road. What a great place to relax and unwind, or to bring children to play.

Briar Hill Park is a new Oldham County Park and is just off of Hwy 22 in Crestwood. Located…read morebetween the Orchard Grass and Briar Hills neighborhoods. This park is a very welcome addition to the Crestwood area since there was no previous park. Located on 52 acres there are many activity opportunities. There are Picnic shelters with restroom facilities. A very nice Playground for the little ones. A Basketball court. Walking trails. Sand volleyball court similar to a beach court. And adult size Tennis courts. There is a paved path around the playground for walking or biking. there is a nice creek for kids to explore in the summer. If you are nearby make sure you stop and check it out.

Sam Peden Community Park is a good-sized park that needs more trees…read more There's lots to love about Community Park. The walking path is long and well-kept. If you need an easy path, there's the loop around the large duck and goose pond. If you want something a little more challenging, the path leading back to the 4H Fair Grounds has a decent elevation and optional stairs. There are multiple playgrounds for kids and a few areas for sports and games. Nearby are also shelters that can be reserved for events. Parking is plentiful and in multiple spots. There is also a growing effort to install more public art, a reading path, and some free-range meadow grasses. I'm hopeful that the trees grow back after the building of the Academy apartments and that more are planted around the path to provide more shade during the hot summer months. But a great, local park!

The park boasts loads of amenities in a well-kept landscape. For bird lovers: there's a gorgeous pond which is visited by a lot of ducks, geese, and local bird friends. There's a great 1.2 mile walking track that circles the park, offering views of the pond and a walk and read (single book pages at stops along the trail) for folks with kiddos. They have two playgrounds, four sheltered areas, restrooms (although I've only seen them open twice - pro tip: go to Aldi across the street from the park if they're closed - fast, easy, and clean!), a few short nature trails, green space, a sand volleyball court, soccer fields, a basketball court, and a heck of a lot of tennis courts. I'm new to roller skating and the tennis courts here are a dream come true! Yes, this may not be their intended purpose, and yes, one tennis player one time may have gotten a bit peeved BUT there are so many courts, you don't have to feel guilty about taking away anyone's ability to play tennis. During the week, I've never found the park too crowded. In the early mornings, virtually empty minus some walkers and tennis players. In the evening, loads more folks but still has never felt too crowded, plus LOTS of dog walkers which always makes me excited to see so many sweet puppy faces strolling around. Basketball games are generally happening. On the weekends, this place does get busy. Shelters are available for rent, so there's often parties taking place, we've seen tennis tournaments, soccer games, and more but with how large the park is, we've never felt overcrowded or like we've lost our personal space and have always been able to find easy parking. I would highly recommend this park any time of day and any day of the week.

It's also tucked into the neighborhood well enough that outsiders aren't likely to drive by. But Algonquin Park has a lot going for it. For one thing, it's massive -- 16 acres, one of the biggest neighborhood parks around. It also has a real swimming pool (closed this year because of COVID), an obvious rarity. And it's big enough to have a playground, splashground, basketball courts, grills, a walking path, and a football field, with plenty of room left over. The playground was refurbished just last year with new climbing structures, swings, and a slide.
