This park flies under the radar a bit, probably because it's not in a trendy neighborhood. It's also not one of the flagship Olmsted parks (Cherokee, Iroquois), and it's not one of the new parks (Waterfront, Parklands). It's also tucked into the neighborhood well enough that outsiders aren't likely to drive by. But Algonquin Park has a lot going for it.
For one thing, it's massive -- 16 acres, one of the biggest neighborhood parks around. It also has a real swimming pool (closed this year because of COVID), an obvious rarity. And it's big enough to have a playground, splashground, basketball courts, grills, a walking path, and a football field, with plenty of room left over.
The playground was refurbished just last year with new climbing structures, swings, and a slide. read more
