Between the sauce and the sauerkraut the flavors were all good and I enjoyed the taste of the pastrami when I found it, but the bread to meat ratio was so high I mostly tasted the burned crust of the bread and very few bites of pastrami. It was one slice of pastrami, not a thin slice but not what you hope for when you bite into true Jewish deli pastrami, which are normally bursting at the seems with meat. Marble rye is hard not to burn and they did a good job for the most part, but I tasted more crust than I did pastrami, and for $18 I wonder if this sandwich was more a charge for the hype. The blintzes were also smaller than one would expect of a blintz but I absolutely loved the compote on top.

One Star - Poor Service and Even Worse Customer Support…read more I ordered a Large New York Steamer through the Firehouse Subs app and received a completely different sandwich a Philly Cheesesteak. Simple mistake, right? Should be a simple fix too. Nope. I contacted their guest services immediately. Here's how it went: Email 1 (from them): "Sorry about that! We issued you 1600 reward points." Sounds nice, until you realize it takes 15,000 points to get a free sandwich. So basically... thanks for 1/10 of a replacement. My response: I told them the points don't come close to covering what I paid for and asked for a proper solution more points or a refund. Email 2 (from them): They passed the buck entirely, saying since it was a pickup order, I need to go to the store myself and sort it out. Apparently, the app is just for show, and once your money is taken, you're on your own. So let me get this straight: I used their app I was given the wrong item They gave me points worth about $1 Then told me to go deal with it in person? Why even have a guest services team if all they do is redirect you to the store? Bottom line: Don't count on Firehouse Subs to fix their mistakes. If something goes wrong, you'll be left hunting for a resolution like I was. I used to be a regular now I'm taking my business elsewhere.

The only thing I wasn't blown away by was the sides, we had pasta salad, and Cole slaw and they were fine, nothing bad just wasn't really worth the extra calories. Also, in a deli, I was expecting sliced, rather than shaved, meats. I personally find shaved meats very unappetizing. But because I was hungry, and had ordered it, I ate the salad. I had a side of potato salad, too, which I found more to my liking. Hubby had the Cuban. The waitress said the bread is made locally. He found the sandwich to be adequate.
