This practice used to be good but has turned nothing short of horrible. Something is obviously going wrong. The back office isn't notifying me when they are changing appointments on me. The appointments shouldn't be changed. My doctor left all of a sudden and they wouldn't tell where he went, like they didn't know. Right. They keep making excuses about being unable to provide the basic echocardiograms that I have scheduled and then re-scheduled and then re-scheduled. As sad as it is, I am going to have to find a new cardiologist. No follow-up after discovering a high Calcium Score. He didn't order any further testing like he should have, didn't assist with finding a cholesterol medication that I could tolerate, and didn't address the hypertension medications that worked properly for my health issues. And their credentialing department refused to correct their information with my insurance so I could get further treatment in 2025 and just canceled my appointment with a surgeon I had scheduled without my knowledge. R. Karnik was a physician who was taking care of my father during Covid and he STATED he had NO sympathy for him because he wasn't vaccinated. My father later died that afternoon. In 2020 I went to Biltmore right after heart failure. One doctor installed a watchman I asked for but also gave me meds harmful to my kidney, and I stopped seeing her. Another Biltmore dr, Bahu, implanted a pacemaker for my heart. He ran a wire thru my tricuspid valve and started it leaking when it didn't before, just found out recently and had the wire moved. Another of their doctors refused to treat my symptoms as AHA and ACC requires and preferred to put me out to pasture and watch me die. So I left him. They dismissed me from their practice because I wanted to be treated instead of watched, and now none of their doctors or most in Phoenix will not treat me because they all see the dismissed for non compliance note in my record. They are fine with watching me die. If you have reason to disagree with your doctor you should have a right to and not be banned from getting heart care, like I have been. read more

My mother's cardiologist transferred into Biltmore Cardiology. He is great the new organization is a disaster. Trying for over two weeks to get a simple presciption filled. Still hasn't happened. Called again today got referred to somebody who wasnt available. Called back put on terminal hold nobody answered then a message that the office was closed call back tomorrow. If I treated my customers like that I would have been out of business in a heartbeat. read more

Update #4: I attempted to call Kristin as instructed, and the extension she gave me rang, then disconnected. I called and told the person who answered the phone that the extension I was given didn't work. She said that they were "updating extensions" and sent me to a different one, but the mailbox was full. I called back again and spoke to a different person who asked, "Which Kristin?" The first person didn't ask, so who knows who's ext I was sent to. She was very rude and short and wouldn't let me complete a sentence. I asked for Kristin's correct extension, and she said, "They don't have extensions. They move around a lot." Which is it? Are you "updating extensions" or you "don't use them" even though I was given one to call back? My appt is Monday. If you have someone who actually knows what they are doing and isn't inconvenienced by their job, could they PLEASE call me back? I don't want to come to an appointment if you don't have results, and I WILL NOT be charged a cancellation fee because of your incompetence and apathy. Update #3: I called to reschedule my follow-up with Dr. Premkumar for the sleep study because it had taken them so long to sort out their "I don't know what happened," that the appt would occur after the study. The first person told me he had no appts until Dec. I explained that I had been trying to get this done since early August, and she stated that's the soonest he had and they do not have a waiting list. I was then transferred to a Kristin. She offered a sooner appointment, but told me to call her the Thursday prior to make sure they received the results of the study and gave me her direct extension. Update #2: I spoke to a Lisa. She stated that the Dr.'s assistant puts in the order for prior approval. I said, "Somebody dropped the ball," and she said, "I agree." I asked why a doctor would call at 6:45AM on a Sunday, and she said, "I don't know why he does that." I then spoke to a Kristin (Kristi?). She confirmed that an order for the prior auth was sent this time. The official answer as to why this has been so mishandled was, "I don't know what happened." I asked why my calls were never returned and she asked if I would like the office manager to call me. I said yes. I never received a call back or any explanation as to why my calls/messages were ignored and why it took blowing up the internet and their portal just to get a call back. Update #1: I finally received a call back at 6:45am on Sunday morning. The doctor referenced a previous test (not what I had been leaving detailed messages for), and told me to call the same number that I've been calling and leaving messages that go unanswered. - I will try this. Maybe I can get someone to respond. They called me regarding a sleep study and told me to call my insurance company and gave me a reference number. I called my insurance company and they had no record of that reference number and they showed that the sleep study was approved. I've now left four messages for Dr Premkumar and his assistant since late August, and no one will call me back. Also, the person who answers the phone is very short, rude, and will cut you off. I can only say that in MY experience, everything has been great. I have been with them 14 years. Over the last few years, I had some big issues crop up. They handled them. This location has recently undergone renovations. Convenient parking 2 stories below ground. Elevators. Front Desk personnel are competent and helpful. Dr. Alkhatib has been wonderful. He saved my life to boot! Everyone is professional and warm. The only thing is it could take awhile to get an answer left in their VM system. So be the squeaky wheel if necessary. read more

First time here. In the waiting room a nurse came out calling "Karen?" A woman who had been there before me said "I'm Karen." Shortly another nurse came out and called "Karen?" My turn. I followed the nurse down a long hallway. "Are you ready for this?" she asked me hesitantly. I looked at her wondering what they did to patients on the first visit. Inside the room she started to get syringes, etc ready. I looked around and realized someone was going to get a hefty procedure but it wasn't me. "Excuse me" I said "but I think you have me mixed up with the other Karen. Someone must have put her in the room I am supposed to be in." The nurse looked shaken. "I am so sorry! Let me take you back to the waiting room and straighten this out." The potential to get way more than you bargained for here is frankly terrifying. Horrible practice management. I had a 3:30 appointment and arrived early, then waited until 5:15 to see the provider. The Dr. (Jaffee) was nice enough but the visit was brief compared to the wait. He referred me for follow up tests that were 3 weeks and 7 weeks out. On the morning of the first test, I received a message canceling my visit because the provider wasn't in, but mentioning that someone would call me that day to reschedule. I never received a call back, and have tried 3 times to call the office around 4:30 PM only to receive a message that the office was closed (the website hours say open until 5 PM). When I actually got through to someone today at 4:15 PM, they were rude and snapped at me because I "gave her too much information at once" and then hung up on me. I tried calling back and remained on hold waiting for someone to answer, until finally calling at 4:30 PM for the 3rd try and receiving the recorded message telling me the office was closed. I finally spoke with someone at the toll free number listed on their (quasi) web site and canceled all of my future appointments so that I could start this process again, hopefully with a practice that is managed better and shows more care and concern for its patients. I understand things happen that can cause extended waits, but honestly, every truly great doctor I have had and stayed with, ran on time for their appointments or had slight delays. Although I tried to give this practice a chance even after the 2 hour wait, my follow up experiences matched with my first one. My advice? Find another cardiology practice. read more

We've been with Biltmore Cardiology for many years. They literally saved my husbands life at one point. But now the office, and response to patients, and care management leaves a lot to be desired. The HCPs are very good, but the office staff and management is bad. Its difficult to connect with a live human to coordinate care. If you leave a message for a physician's MA, they don't respond - at all. Other providers are also having trouble connecting with them to get clearance/discuss patient care. Not sure why so many poor reviews for this place as I have always had a positive experience. You can do nearly all of your check in on line and I have never waited more than 5 minutes. They have on site ultrasound and labs for blood work. I really like Dr Cherukuri, he is always upbeat, takes his time explaining and makes you feel relaxed. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is that I had a telemedicine call recently and the link didn't work so they had to call me the next day. No one answers the phone, and the girls up front transfer me to various offices that no one seems to be able to answer a simple health insurance question. Jason Cool appears to take Banner University MAPD HMO Dual plan, but the girls up front are telling customers that they do not take Banner University at all. So I am trying to reach someone in the Billing Department. Which should be fairly simple to do, but it's almost impossible. Called this office to schedule an appointment with Dr. Byrne on three different occasions. Dr. Byrne had been highly recommended. The Doctors scheduler is Roxanne who is obviously a sleep at the wheel. Of the three calls, all went to voice mail and only one call was returned. The one call that was returned appeared to result from another employee, who obviously had more care and concern for their medical practice and sent an internal communication requesting that my call be returned. I had to take my 95 year old grandfather in to be seen. We were running late and I called twice to ensure we could be seen. I explained the confusion with the appointment time and the delay. I was told to bring him in. I fought 45 min of traffic arrived at 330 pm . Due to his sprained ankle, his arthritic knees, enlarged prostate, heart issues, fractured neck and all around poor health it took me five minutes to maneuver him to the lobby where I was greeted by rude staff who argued with me refusEd to make eye contact As they dismissively explained that they had already called his name multiple times !! I explained I had already spoken with staff twice and was told to come in. The conversation quickly disintegrated and became even more confrontational when an even more unprofessional office manager came over and defended her employee rather than try to soothe the situation and apologize for the miscommunication ( clearly staff dropped the ball somewhere - telling me to bring him in and then denying him instead of making allowances for his age and health) At which point I explained we would be getting a new cardiologis. The office manager then starts carrying on about dismissing us from the practice as a parting shot continued to argue w me as I'm wheel my poor grandfather away! I may have stopped to her level and yelled some profanity at that point!! My grandfather is a WW2 veteran and a retired teacher who has served his country and community all his life. So great job! Can black people do anything without grief? I check in and sign in to my Doctors appointment as Will, just like I've done the last two times that I came in for an appointment. (My insurance card says Willie) 3 min later they are asking for a "William" to come to the back to see the Dr. I'm thinking they can't be talking about me right, I just checked in with the 1st receptionist as Will and there were at least 15 other people waiting ahead of me. Everybody is waiting for William to get up. The assistant asked 3 times, and a gentleman finally got up and said hey I don't think William is here very loudly. Then receptionist number 1 with a blatant attitude that just checked me in as Will points directly at me and says he's right there. So i get up and say my name is Will or Willie not William, who is William and then the entire front desk decided to treat me like a child asking me why my insurance info says "William"? I asked why don't you tell me because I didn't sign anything as William. This is my 3rd time coming here, no one ever called me William before it wasn't an issue before why is it today. And in my mind I'm thinking why does this have to be such a big deal. And why are they making a scene in front of everyone over a simple mistake. (A mistake that they made, you just checked me in as Will and now you're entire crew is giving me the business about what my name is) I asked why didn't you just say my last name and then the entire staff was trying to correct me with vigor all at once and had no intentions of just giving a simple apology. Rude, abrupt, curt people answering their phones. I called Biltmore Cardio on three separate occasions asking if they had received my doctor's referral. Each time, the person answering the phone barely let me finish my sentences before asking me the next question in the most irritated tone of voice possible. Each time they didn't have a record of my referral. So, I called my doctor's referral specialist. He had a date and time stamp of the referral showing it was sent. He sent it again after checking the accuracy of Biltmore Cardio's fax number. I called Biltmore Cardio again this morning and got the same treatment. The woman was about to hang up after she interrupted me and told me that she wasn't showing any referral for me! I asked her if she could please call my doctor and talk to the referral specialist because at this point there was nothing else that I, as a patient, could do. She jumped on the end of my sentence again, and asked me for my insurance info. I told her I had to go get it in the other room because I wasn't expecting to be asked for it and could she please wait while I went to get it. I rushed, mind you, because I know waiting on the phone feels like an eternity, but when I got back she'd hung up on me. How this place stays in business is beyond me. However, once they left Banner and became part of Abrazo.......horrible customer service, horrible record keeping, horrible communication with staff, and they have become rude. I love Dr Maki and Kevin Johnson (PA), but was turned away by the front desk over paid and underworked clown, as I owed on a bill. Mind you, it was like $100, but I am self pay. Dr Maki ordered the test, and she refused to let me get the test done. Hence, I left. Got madder and madder about this over the next few days. Decided to find a new doctor with better office staff. I then called Biltmore Cardiology and requested that my medical records be sent to me under continuity of care. Low and behold about 7-10 days later, I received part of my medical records.........along with someone else's medical records. I called the office yet again, and spoke to the practice manager (Donna), and that was a joke. Complete waste of time. I refuse to pay the remainder of my bill and will most likely contact and attorney as they are in violation of HIPPA (Health Information Patient Privacy Act). My husband had to go to the hospital because of chest pains last night. We spent two hours there and left because they had given him some things which made his pains subside but blood pressure still high. They had been in contact with the Biltmore Cardiology doctor on call because Dr. Morgan, our doctor, was not available and we were told to contact them in the morning and get a stress test done asap. My husband was currently scheduled for stress test in July but thought we would get moved up due to circumstances. The girl in scheduling said they were all booked up and next appointment was not until October, even knowing the situation. You have a man with chest pains, etc. and this is the best you can do. What has happened to the medical field, they just don't give a damn. To start off, the phone recording said "we are short staffed and in training" so that is a good reason not to pick up calls when people are in need. REALLY read more

OK, we're months into dealing with Biltmore Cardiology now. So far my wife has been prescribed blood pressure meds that our second opinion doctor has confirmed should never be given to an African American or West African. My wife took the drugs in good faith for almost three months with absolutely no improvement whatsoever. She tried many times to communicate over the Biltmore portal regarding this and never got a response so she stopped taking the meds. Again, no change noted. She finally went to her primary care physician who raised a red flag and finally got nurse practitioner Jody Ekhardts attention. The primary physician also noted incorrect prescription of BP meds. Nurse practitioner flew into a two year old tantrum when this and my wife's subsequent stopping of meds was finally acknowledged. She simply said Too many cooks spoil the broth, I cannot deal with you anymore. Now my wife is left without an assigned cardio to review the cardio CT she had last Thursday and Biltmore have not even posted the data on the portal so it can be given to an alternate cardiologist for review and advice.
