I was not impressed with the bikes at Billy's. I opted for Hybrid bike and received a bike with hard to change gears. I had to keep tightening the seat. I do not feel these bikes are well maintained, I highly recommend a "test ride" and tightening prior to renting. I am an avid cyclist with a road bike and a hybrid, so I might be picker than most. But I felt the bikes of all 3 of renting were in safe- loose seat, breaks, properly inflated tires, etc.. I did mention when i returned and got a we let them know response.

Met the Billy today.. Wish I didn't.. Bikes are bikes, owners aren't always nice. Cheers.

My review is not for the bikes or the great time we had, or the almost $400 we spent renting bikes and a scooter.. frankly, I don't like leaving bad reviews, check out my history and you'll see. My review is for Billy himself. I met Billy today, I wish I didnt.. evidrntly, the only thing he really cares about is your money. Sadly, his personal honest affection towards peoples ideas won't matter, bikes will always rent. I don't trust people who are only nice to your wallet.. Note to Billy: If a customer has something to share with you, at least listen before telling them to go pound sand up their a$$ with a brick because you got it all figured out. Cheers.

Billy's Rentals is the best! If you are staying on Sanibel Island I highly recommend renting a bike at Billy's and cycle the two mile treck along Periwinkle to the lighthouse on the beach. If four miles is too far of a ride you can always stop by one of the restaurants along the bike paths and have lunch if you need to take a break. My husband and I like to rent the dorky looking Surrey Bike with the umbrella awning and ride it to the lighthouse. I imagine we are quite a comical sight on this bike since you usually only see senior citizens riding these bikes! We usually argue who is or is not pedalling their fair share throughout the ride, but renting a surrey bike is always the highlight of visiting Sanibel Island!

the rental process was easy and the staff was helpful. our bikes seemed to be a little bit run down but still rode fine. i love that they will deliver your bikes to where you're staying. one of our bikes was missing a chain when it first was delivered, but we called and they got it switched out in no time! they also have a lot of great bike options for kids too so the whole family can ride! we rode ours everyday across sanibel and had a blast.

Quick and easy rental process. Our bikes were great, only downside was that we had to walk to pick up & drop off our bikes. Friendly service, they also gave us maps to find some bike routes and nice places to visit!

Cheapest thing to do on Sanibel is rent bikes! Billy's offers a wide variety of bikes including tandem and kids bikes with training wheels.

YOLO Watersports - The "quality" golf cart lol

Yolo is a cute little shop on Captiva located right next to the beach. They are your typical beach…read moreshop with shirts, hats, sunscreen, water toys and more. They also offer rentals. We have been renting from Yolo for the last few years to rent a golf cart. Golf carts on the island are so much easier than always moving your car. We always call ahead of time, about 3-4 months to make our reservation. I would definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time as they could be sold out of the items you want. While we were picking up our golf cart, there were other customers renting chairs and umbrellas for the beach. They rent lots of different items so it would be best to check them out ahead of time when planning. There is another rental company but we prefer Yolo. I believe they are a little cheaper at Yolo so we prefer to go to them. My only complaint is the upkeep of the golf carts. The first one we rented, the steering was off and the seats were moldy. We returned it for another one and the second cart would not start sometimes and then it would jerked real fast. I think they are used so much it is hard to keep up with them but they definitely need to be looked at. My only other complaint is their deposit policy. We had to put a $500 dollar deposit down when we made the reservation. That is fine, we expect that but when we went to pick up the golf cart for the week, they did not apply the deposit to the total. Instead we had to pay for the week, almost 500 dollars plus the deposit and then wait for the deposit to be put back when we returned the cart. So basically they almost 1000 dollars of our money when our cost for the week was around 450. Besides those two, this is a great location, conveniently located and easy to use. I would recommend checking them out when planning your vacation.

YOLO... one of the few options on both Captiva and Sanibel islands to rent a golf cart. It's…read morespecifically for Captiva but there are few options along either island. I was less than impressed with our whole experience. We booked a golf cart for the weekend ahead of our stay, and only got the confirmation email of our payment and nothing more. Not any type of instructions on when or how to get the golf cart, when their website says they will deliver it and we requested we wanted it delivered when we made the reservation.. So we call that morning when it's open and they say to come pick it up- still never any communication more than that about our whole reservation. If we hadn't called I'm not sure they ever would have followed up with us. Then, we go to pick it up and probably get one of the crappiest golf carts I've ever used lol. And I was a golfer so I've used many a golf cart- this one struggled to even go like 8mph. We also saw other golf carts rented from another business on the island that were multitudes nicer than the one we got. And I wouldn't have a huge problem with a low quality golf cart except we paired nearly $200 to have it for a little over a day. That's kind of nuts, even for a tourist island. All in all it was just disappointing and a pain to use YOLO for a rental service. If I come back to the island I'd use a different rental company.

I went in today, after putting it off for over a year…read more I needed my tires looked at, possibly new tubing. I was promptly greeted by several gentlemen behind the shop counter. They happened to be each working on various forms of fixing bicycles. When I explained I was having issues with my bike, Jason (said the name on my receipt) told me he could help me. He followed me to my car, and as we were walking, I explained I had recently (3 months before I moved to Florida) fixed my tires. Both had new tubing and I was told everything was hunky duck. I had rode every day, 6 miles, back north, and then I come here and my tires don't hold air. He said it definitely sounded like tubing problems. In some cases, I was shocked, as I had mentioned to him I went to a reputable bike shop up north and paid close to a hundred dollars to now not use my bike. The fact that the tubing failed in less than six months was weird. He couldn't understand how I could have paid so much, as he explained that depending on what tubing I need, plus labor, could run me under 50 dollars. I guess that's the big price difference between south shore Massachusetts and Fort Myers Florida. After we got my bike in the shop, Jason re-iterated my options. Normal tubing, which was slightly thinner, would run me seven dollars a piece (I think that was the price). The next step up, which is thicker, is better for riding around down here, as it's harder to puncture. Spurs and broken bottles are more of an enemy to the lesser model, as this one can take the punch. It also costs $13 a piece and I wouldn't have to re inflate a lot. I asked him what he suggests, and he said that if the area I live in has a daily maintenence crew, or I ride around where there could be broken shards, go for the more expensive. But it *is* a matter of preference. I decided to go with the 13 dollar one, as I plan to ride around on city streets and through parking lots. I was then told 15 minutes and I'll be good to go. Promptly done, I ended up paying $44.52 - that's 13 dollars for each tube and $16 for labor (broken down to 8 bucks a tire). I got my bike back, put it in my car, and went home. After putting the front tire back on, I decided to go for a test ride. 30 minutes and almost 6 miles later, the tires are amazing! Thanks, Bike Route; you have a very satisfied customer who will be returning in the future (and referring friends)!
