The technician showed me a piece of paper that said there was a 4% surcharge for using a credit card - that was not on the CAA web site and I did not agree to a surcharge when I booked. He wrote the tire location on the sidewalls instead of the tread - I had just washed the tires the previous day so they would be put away clean. He started to put summer tires on the wrong wheel and tried to convince me it was okay. He didn't know what TPMS meant and said the warning light didn't need to be reset - the light is still on. I had to call 4 times to get them to send an invoice. Unimpressed. I will be not be renewing my CAA membership this fall.

Byer Beware CAA towing drivers misleading Mechanics and costing allot of money, On that day we…read morewaited 3 1/2 in the cold for CAA they add no remorse for the suffering in the cold The CAA towing driver told the mechanic at the shop we had the car towed to that it needed a new engine--without ever diagnosing the problem. The car wasn't even started, so there was no way he could know that. I don't understand how he could make such a claim to a complete stranger. We simply had the car towed to a garage, and instead we were met with false and misleading statements. I believe the CAA towing driver acted unprofessionally, and I have two witnesses to support what happened. Worst company ever. The towing driver diagnosed my car as having a blown motor and sent it straight to a mechanic shop. We didn't even start the car in front of him. They tried to take advantage of the customer. When I complained to CAA, they canceled my card instead of resolving the issue. CAA Ottawa staff are very ignorant. The supervisor in charge of the towing company even called and admitted that what the driver told the mechanic was wrong. CAA towing drivers are not supposed to diagnose vehicles -- they are not mechanics and have no mechanical experience. CAA also makes customers wait for hours for no reason, pretending they are busy while leaving people waiting for a tow. Buyer beware. I got squeezed at the last…read moremoment and the best they could offer was insurance that cost $3800 instead of the usual $1500. I had also lousy coverage. They could not tell me how much the premium would change if i made certain adjustments. They never mailed me my policy. They never sent a renewal policy. Follow up was awful. Biggest mistake in a long time. Now back to a broker that managed to find me insurance around the $1500 mark and with proper follow up and client service.

They still sell items that are helpful and useful in travel, like luggage etc., but the shop is a bit smaller than the previous location. It's not as much a place to get triptics like they used to offer. I think you can now print those off your home computer, updated with construction and so on. The new outlet offers insurance for home, vehicle and RV, and travel insurance. Please note new hours due to COVID; they're closed on Saturdays.
