Rotten meat and utterly shockingly bad customer service. On Sunday the 28th I purchased a shoulder of NZ lamb at the Independent Grocer Meaford store for $28.80 (-30% discount) When I got home I discovered that it was rotting and smelled simply disgusting. It was actually blue in some spots. As we had guests staying with us, I could not return it until two days later and was told by staff (including the manager) that as it had been priced at 30% off I was not entitled to a refund. Even although it was reduced, I do not expect to pay for spoiled meat at Independent. After sending an email to the owner that day, a certain Pina Godard, I have not heard back after almost a week. And I did follow up. I shall be boycotting this store from now on and posting my bad review everywhere I can. Do not give this store your heard-earned money; they don't deserve it. read more

I am very disappointed with Bills Value-Mart with the crisis of Covid19 going on and people ordered to icealate at home and can't work and short of money due to many laid off. That the prices have sky rocket to take advantage of people through terrible times like this. Everything has at least double or tripled in price if not more. This is not the Bills I knew growing up. My grandma use to know Bill and family way back.she would roll over in her grave if she seen this greed side especially in desperate times the World is going through now to treat the way you treat them today in a crisis. Maybe it is time to retire and sell the business as said. It sure isn't like the ole old store I use to know growing up? really sad. If I could give you a minus star I would. Here is a definition of price gouging. This shoe fits Value-Mart..... Price gouging is a pejorative term referring to when a seller spikes the prices of goods, services or commodities to a level much higher than is considered reasonable or fair, and is considered exploitative, potentially to an unethical extent. Really sad I won't shop here no more. Rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Not to mention your staff is incredibly rude, when you ask your staff something for help. They walk away. read more

The only reason to shop here is if you really need President's Choice Products. The last review said that the store seems empty until you get to a check-out line. I needed a few items that I normally would pick up in more reasonable stores in Owen Sound. The cashier said to me ooo big spender aren't you going to break the bank. There in lies the problem with this store not only is it over priced the cashiers are the laziest I have ever seen. If they had no one behind you they would not lift a finger to help you bag your groceries. I avoid this store whenever I can. I also have never seen a store hide their flyers quite like this store. Constantly I find mistakes with my bill. Avoid this store at all costs if you can. It is a real shame as President's Choice products are some of my favorites. They will not care about this review as they have quite the captive marketplace with only a couple stores in the area. read more
