I had them remove two pine trees dead or dying from pine bark beetles. I confirmed that they were…read morecorrectly licensed and insured before I hired them. Had them do the work in the dead of winter hoping the cold weather might take some sort of a toll on the beetles that would be looking for a new home. Although a bit delayed, they completed the work efficiently despite having their primary truck in the shop. They were careful to make sure none of the big branches and trunk segments fell in the wrong direction. That was a good thing because the biggest tree's trunk turned out to be rotten half way up. They cleaned up before they left so that I only ended up with some bits and shards in the tall grass and bushes. The price was reasonable. Of course their truck left some tracks in the yard, where they used it to pull some big branches down, but the grass grew back quickly in the spring. The place where they disposed of the logs had raised its price, but they didn't raise mine. This company is straightforward and honest.

Passive-aggressive landscaping at its finest...err, worst…read more Contracted with them after damage from Hurricane Sandy (prices written on the back of a business card 'We don't use contracts'...but I needed the work done ASAP so I ignored my inner warning bells). Turns out that in phase 2 of the job they had an internal communication error about the scope of the work (remember...no contract?). If there was any part of this that was amusing (well, more pathetic than amusing), it was that the owner called his wife on the phone to call me, rather than talk to me directly 30 feet away. I wouldn't agree to pay any more (nothing worse than being nickled and dimed at the end of a $1500.00 job that was priced on the high side to begin with)...so she hung up on me, called him, they yanked their trees and left--all without a word to me, and all over a relative pittance. Avoid them at all costs; hire someone with a modicum of professionalism..and ALWAYS get a contract with the scope of work clearly delineated.
