Once he realized I actually had an appointment, the situation became a little awkward for both of us. Linda ultimately cut my hair, and she did a great job. Both Linda and Marc made an effort to engage me in conversation, although at times I felt more like an outsider than a customer they were genuinely trying to get to know. I decided to give the shop another try. On my second visit, there appeared to be a scheduling mix-up. I had an appointment with Linda and arrived on time, but as I walked in, she was seating a walk-in customer. She had to ask him to wait so she could honor my appointment. The conversation during this visit was somewhat more comfortable, although I still didn't feel particularly at ease. Meanwhile, Marc seemed much more naturally engaged and relaxed with his younger client. That ultimately sums up my experience. If you're a younger, upwardly mobile guy who fits the atmosphere of the shop, this may be exactly the kind of place you're looking for. The haircuts and technical service were not my issue. Linda did a very good job. Where my experience fell short was in the hospitality and the feeling of being genuinely welcomed and valued as a customer. The shop states: "When a patron walks through our door, they receive the very best hospitality, a first class service that is tailored to their individual needs... the attention that makes you feel valued." As a 70-year-old professional who gave the shop two opportunities, that simply wasn't my experience. The haircut was good. I sensed he was struggling to do as I ask but when he started trimming my top, I said something. He tried to justify it by saying he was blending but why does getting hair off my neck and ears require blending my hair on top of my head? He took as much as 2 inches in some areas. I am now stuck trying to keep my short hair out of my face for the next 5 weeks, even with hair product. Despite my last name, I'm not a professional Barber, but I've been getting this head of mine cut for over 67 years and know when I'm not getting what I ask for.
