The store seems much more modern than I'm used to from Morrisons. The store is visually pleasant. As you enter the store, you'll be greeted by their Market Kitchen area where food counters are available offering a rotational daily selection of hot dishes, pizza and a couple of other options alongside the regular Morrisons Cafe offering. The facilities inside the store are good and also include Amazon Lockers. The selection in terms of groceries was reasonable. Prices were competitive but did seem fairly expensive for some items including Cravendale Milk, even out pricing some convenience stores in Birmingham city centre. The staff seemed friendly enough; there was a lack of them on the shop floor however to assist customers. 4* - An impressive Morrisons with an overall store look/feel that I hope they roll out across more of their supermarkets nationwide.

They're always busy, which is testament to the wide selection of products they have and offers they tend to put on. The fruit and vegetables are displayed outside where you're free to bag as much as you like and ask a staff member to keep it near the tills while you browse through the aisles inside. The staff members are very polite and offer to drop your shopping to your car, which is very helpful because parking in the area is hectic so you could be quite a walk away. Although their fruit and vegetables are competitively priced, I feel the rest of their items can be overpriced, considering the number of supermarkets you have on this stretch of the Stratford Road. They could do a better job of maintaining the shop floor and exterior considering they have many workers.

Price's are cheap to reasonable, and they sell a delicious large carton of orange for £2 which I always go in for. I highly recommend it! Zeb's is great for kids, but maybe not so great for parents, as children usually end up nagging for sweets every time they go inside. The selection of sweets is really great though, and I also remember trying my hardest to persuade my own parents to buy most of the sweet isle. Even today, I sometimes fail to resist the odd Dib Dab. The shop used to have a DVD store at the back of it too, I've bought some great films from there including Con Air for £1. I really miss that section of the shop, but I'm hoping they bring it back. It didn't take long for me to find this replacement that is a more convenient distance from my house for the essentials like a weekend newspaper, a packet of cigarettes, milk, or a bottle of wine. The shop has recently come under new management. The new owner has retained the friendly staff and he himself is a chatty one too. He's installed a halal hot dog machine, a £1 section and one of those darn handy bits 'n' bobs displays that sell tape measures, cotton, needles, etc, like a hardware store in miniature at the end of one of the aisles. The wine and beer isn't sold at the cheapest prices here, but if you don't mind paying an extra £2 on top of what you'd usually pay at a supermarket, there is a good range of reds, whites, and roses as well as all the usual brands of continental strength lager. (And Special Brew if chugging litres of the fizzy stuff down your neck to get merry isn't your thing). They sell local produce too, if snacks and sweets from Bobby's counts as that!

I like to eat well (by…read morehaving a very mixed diet) and save as much money as possible on the boring stuff (like the food shop). This makes me a really big fan of Aldi. I remember the stigma that was attached to discount supermarkets when I was younger and the shame of having "non branded" crisps in your lunchbox at school, well, I certainly feel that a lot has changed and these stores are now a viable option to get great quality, cheaper food (and drink) options. This branch is actually my favourite. I know, it's weird having a favourite branch of Aldi, but when we can't get to market on a weekend we have a plethora of Aldi's and Lidl's around us to choose from. This one (just by Cannon Hill park) is always tidy, clean and tends to have the items we need in stock (rather than other branches which seem to run out of things). I always find it really funny to see how many Mercedes, Jag's and high end cars are parked in the car park of this branch. Clearly the discount supermarket is no longer a taboo! As well as the usual choice of fruit, veg and meat you will find lots of speciality items here. With everything from award winning wines and champagnes to a great selection of baking paraphernalia and season items in stock, if you're anything like me you'll usually spend more than you bargained for! Again, this is my favourite branch of Aldi in Birmingham. If you are looking for a way to cut down the cost of the weekly shop or just get a picnic in before visiting Cannon Hill, you could do much worse than popping in and seeing what these guys have in stock.

But in all seriousness Aldi really has managed to shake off the stigma it once had by continuing to stock good quality items at slightly lower prices than the big supermarkets. Especially with the 'super 6' offers and weekly offers on meat that often beat the big supermarkets measly 20p off by a country mile. Aldi is great for the vast majority of things but it's quite rare that we can do an entire weekly shop there, unfortunately some items we can only get at our local supermarket that shall remain nameless. That being said their selection of beers is great (and lets face it, it's what we're all here for!), with several ales, weissbier, pilsner and a few other bits and pieces as well all coming in at £1.25 or less per bottle - bargain! Just make sure you take some carrier bags to reuse, they will charge you!

Still on the few occasions I have gone to pick a few things up I have found the store to be well stocked and well staffed. It was quite busy when I have shopped there but the cashiers worked fast to help the queues move faster and always offer to help with the packing. The only complaint I have ever had here was actually this week when I was passing and went into get a few things and noticed a point of sale indicating if you buy 2 selected cds you would get a free £15 itunes voucher, so I had a quick look and they only had one title which was in the offer left, but I can see it is a good offer so I am guessing other Sainsburys will be out of stock on some of the items too!

For me though generally it is a nightmare to drive in and out of, it is so close to the main Coventry Rd and I only tend to go here during a weekday as evenings and weekends it is too stressful to drive too. Another time I always go is in the middle of the night coming up to Christmas, its quieter but shockingly still fairly busy at 3am!!

This supermarket is perilously close to the Co-op, in terms of business location, but it's always good to support local one-offs, in my opinion. Or even 'international' one-offs. It's far better priced too - so get yourselves down there and ask about the offers!

There is a variety of fruit and veg in the store and they are all so much cheaper than in the supermarket! I ended up with armfuls of fruit and veg and the girl behind the counter gave me a box to take away with me. She was very sweet and helped me load the box up. She did mention a couple of offers that the store had on, but by this time I had already got a full box of stuff and she understood when I said I couldn't take any more. It is a great little store and if you are going to the Co-op then I would recommend popping in here too; it is fresher and cheaper!
