I first came to see Dr. William Cloke (aka Bill) in 2018 in a very frustrated and distressed state about life. We all have our issues and for me, being a 32 year old female lawyer with my own a law practice to run, newly married and having fertility issues were just a few of them.
I would have never thought I would develope such a wonderful client/therapist relationship with 70 something year old male, but he was HIGHLY recommended from a couple different reliable sources. So after keeping his info for about a year and referring my own parents (who were on the verge of divorce after 30 years) to see him, I decided things were bad enough for me that it was time. In hindsight, I wish I would have gone before things got so bad, but that's life and now I share my experience with others in hopes that it can benefit them.
I grew up in a very loving family with a lot of usual and usual cultural dysfunctions of its time. I hadn't processed any of that childhood and the impact it had on me until it was time for me to start my own family (that I was chosing to start with another person who also had all this unprocessed stuff). My partner, didn't "believe" in therapy. Actually, he had one belief, and that was that "therapists make things worse".
So, in 2018, I went to my first session, alone. Ten months later, I went to my 2nd session alone (after I filled for divorce) and I haven't stopped going since (except for a 3 month break after I gave birth to my daughter).
Since that time, I got back with my husband, got pregnant with our first daughter, moved to a new house, dealt with a whole lot of new changes in my career and our new family of 3, and a pandemic.
Through all of it, Bill has been my light in the tunnel of life. At a time where I could have just burned all of my surroundings to the ground and moved on to rebuild from scratch only to end up with different surroundings and the same common denominator (me) ... Bill took me in, non-judgmentally, and helped me understand myself so I could reprogram/build myself up from the inside out.
My husband saw the positive change and he eventually joined us for couples therapy sessions that really helped give us new conflict resolution tools we never had modeled to us in our families. Bill brought about nothing short of at least a few miracles in our relationship. My husband and I have very different personality types and it's awesome to see how Bill gained and kept both our trust/respect to work his magic on both of us to help us build the beautiful life we have now (and continue to work on and grow).
As a woman, Bill has given me GREAT insight into understanding the male brain. He has also acknowledged my female struggles and given me the emotional support I need/ed to build and maintain a solid foundation within myself that has allowed me to not only survive, but also thrive in this life.
My husband has now referred him to close friends and family. I have referred several close friends to him and they have been with them for a long time now as well. After hearing of so many people having trouble finding a therapist that is a good fit/, I thought this review and the help it could do for others was overdue. read more
