We translate content into 35+ languages, and they are happy to offer helpful suggestions when a new language is added to the list. A dedicated project manager is assigned for each account, so you work with someone who knows your company and your content. Their QA has been top-notch - their checks have caught problems that existed in the original documentation, calling them to our attention, and allowing us to make corrections in both the English and the translations. Their translators are in-country, meaning that Russian is done by a native Russian speaker living in Russia, Swedish by someone in Sweden, etc. Translators living in-country is important, as technological terminology evolves at a rapid rate. A translator who has lived in America for 20 years is likely not going to be able to provide quite the same quality as someone who is in-country. The translation process involves the following: - request/receive quote through web portal - approve and start translation process - answer any questions/clarifications that the translators may have - translations go through QA by a 2nd native speaker - content is DTPd if necessary - review/approval of translations by my company's native-speakers - if DTP is involved, a DTP QA is performed by native-speaker - translations delivered through web portal Types of items translated: user documentation, marketing content, product firmware, software applications, CD interfaces, and web content. They are either really bad at customer service or my budget of 5k-7k wasn't worth their time. I've come to learn these many of these smaller boutique firms won't touch a build for under 20k. If thats the case thats fine but at least have the courtesy to tell me that.
