My review is solely based on the studio, not the instructor.
I signed up last week and only went for two classes. I've been taking bikram classes for nearly 6 years and this is the first studio that I've been to that has smelled so terrible. It hits you as soon as you walk in. I know it's difficult to keep a hot yoga studio always pleasant, but it most certainly can and has been done.
And it's a real pity because the studio itself is done up very nicely. But Jesus, let the air circulate after class, spray some tea tree oil, anything.
My second criticism is this: the class is not instructed to face the left side of the room for the second part of the standing series, resulting in many hands in faces and other peoples sweaty feet on your mat. I've never seen this not done before and I don't understand it. The two classes I attended were packed, so on top of the smell I was also very distracted by having to negotiate my tiny space.
My third criticism:
This is a big pet peeve when studios advertise themselves as something: please do not call yourselves a bikram studio when you only have *maybe* two actual 90 min classes a day.
I signed up for a very specific studio and expect it to cater to that one speciality. By all means, have other classes but then change your studio name. It's false advertising.
I'm very disappointed, because I really enjoyed the teaching style of the instructor (Ilaria ) but I simply cannot deal with the Smell, the overlapping space and the lack of a proper, full Bikram schedule.
Hopefully at least the smell can be remedied. read more
