I'm so excited that yelp has launched in Oslo so I could finally write a review of Bikram Yoga Oslo. I've been to many studios (mostly in the US, see my Bikram Everywhere! list) but a few in other countries, and Bikram Yoga Oslo is one of my favorites. From humble beginnings - BY Oslo, started as a little 4 person studio in the back of nail salon to its current location. The studio is super clean and boasts a linoleum floor, unlike regulation nasty Bikram carpet. There is also a great community here. The studio owners, Charlotte and Resh, have worked hard to build an awareness of Bikram from nothing. Classes are taught either in Norwegian or English, so check the schedule. I find the teachers true to the dialogue and one of my favorites is Adam (whom I originally met in Washington, DC). A couple gripes I have are the group shower situation and the cost. A drop in rate is steep, especially once you add in towels and mat rental (I remember it close to 250 kroner all in). Showers would be nicer as individual showers, but otherwise, this studio rocks! read more

An absolutely wonderful hot yoga studio right here in the middle of Oslo. I began my practice in Stockholm and have visited many studios around Scandinavia in the past 4 years and can confidently say that this is the best in Northern Europe. Bikram Yoga Oslo has a spacious, comfortable yet vibrant space unlike anything I have experienced here in Norway. The changerooms are also spacious and there are plenty of showers and bench space even during busy classes. They have recently refurbished the entire location and have a great range of yoga clothing, natural hair & beauty products and books making it a place for shopping before and after class. The two main clothing brands that they stock are Onzie & Tonic which are very hard to find in Oslo. The staff and teachers are service minded and genuine in their interactions with all of the students- they genuinely care about their community and this shows in the way that the studio is run. The classes themselves are just fantastic and the respect that teachers have for students is very obvious. Care and attention is given to make sure that postures are being done correctly and with the addition of Vinyasa & Yin there is something for everyone at this studio. Since starting at this studio earlier this year, there has only been one teacher who was not good at all but she hasn't been teaching here since the summer so there is only 100% positive feedback for the teachers & their teaching styles at Bikram Yoga Oslo. The heating and ventilation is one of the best in the world and Bikram Yoga Oslo is famous for this internationally. They have carpets in the yoga room that are made especially for this type of yoga as they are antibacterial and comfortable to practice on. Bikram Yoga Oslo seems to be quite fussy about keeping the carpets clean as I regularly see the steam cleaners waiting to enter the room after class and this is quite obvious when you enter the room. Of course there is some light smell, as there should be since it is a popular hot yoga studio. Personally, I prefer to practice safely on carpet than on wooden floors that become slippery and painful when doing kneeling down poses. The owners Charlotte & Resh have done an exceptional job at creating and running such a great studio along with their team. I highly recommend every aspect of the studio & what it represents... This is a beautiful Bikram yoga studio. It's very spacious and the Bikram room itself is the perfect size with large horizontal lines in the carpet so you can line up your mat and your postures. The carpet doesn't seem to absorb the sweat as much as other studios that I have been to so it doesn't have that unpleasant smell. Still, it's a Bikram studio so it doesn't exactly smell like roses in there either. The instructors are really good. They have classes in Norwegian, English and Swedish and they also offer Hot Vinyasa, too. If you've done Bikram before, language is no barrier so the language of instruction isn't that big a deal but if you're a beginner, make sure you go to a class that is in a language that you understand well. The classes themselves aren't as strict as other studios, the instruction and dialogue is encouraging, not dictatorial. They're also not so strict on the 'front row leads' rule as I often see people in the front row struggling. The bathroom is lovely and spacious - I can only comment on the ladies bathroom - and has about six or seven well spaced shower heads in a communal shower. If you're averse to getting nude in front of other women, well, you'll just have to get over that - you're not in Kansas anymore, Dorothy. read more

Finally made it here after having moved to Oslo 7 months ago! Nice and spacious studio and offers classes both in Norsk and English + they have a silent class which I think is super nice. Gives you the time to get in the zone! Got the beginner's package of 600NOK for a month, so I'll hopefully be coming here regularly for the next 30 days :) read more

If you have always wanted to try yoga but think it might be a little boring or not as hard of a work out as you would like, then try Bikram yoga. You will be sweating after the first posture and it takes all the willpower you have just to stay in the class. As for this particular studio, it's great. I havent been for awhile due to an illness, but I have heard that they have done a little renovating to really make the studio the best it can be. I was quite pleased with it beforehand so I am looking forward to going back. The staff is really friendly and helpful. The teachers are all great at what they do and each add their own little personal touch to the class which makes me look forward to taking the class with just about all of them. You can borrow towels and mats there, each for kr 20. You can also borrow water bottles if you forgot yours. It seems to be a hit or miss for how full the classes get, but you should always show up early just in case to ensure you get the spot you want. read more
