Paul that works in Bikeway was so helpful! I told him I haven't been on a bike in quite some time, and he couldn't be more patient. We went outside and because of the helpful tips he gave me I'm now completely comfortable with riding!! I'm so happy !! Thank you again and I highly recommend this place! read more

Bikeway - Bike Rentals Near Me - Mahopac, New York

I'm another Empire State Trail bike emergency saved by Enrique and Bikeway! In my case I'd lost the locking handle on the thru axle on my FLX Babymaker -- not a common bike. I think that most bike shops would just say "nope, we don't have that part" and I would have tried to make it to NYC on a wobbly front wheel, but Enrique said "I'm going to make something work" and he built a lock nut with a couple of washers, some epoxy and a lot of TLC. Tire was secure and I was on my way. All the guys in the shop that day were positive and fun, and I watched as they made a minor repair for another cyclist for free while I was waiting and browsing their awesome bike collection. Mahopac and Putnam county are lucky to have such a great resource. read more

I had my 17-year-old Trek mountain bike serviced here. I used to go to a different shop but they retired. I'm glad they did bikeway not only service my bike but I had no idea that your bike could run so smoothly. It operates better than it did when it was new. Everyone is really nice who works here. Prices are fair. read more

Great bike shop! The people who work here are super friendly and helpful, going far above and beyond! Case in point: I ran in right before closing one day looking to purchase a tool for my bike - they didn't have it available but 1. Told me they could order it and I'd have it within 3 days, and when I said timing would be tight, 2. LOANED me the tool overnight. Who does that?! Anyway, broad selection of bikes, parts, accessories; very helpful and informative staff. Highly recommend. read more

Mechanic tightened it for me and even offered to see if they had my recalled part in to replace for me (I have one waiting at my LBS) Nice folks, nice shop full of bikes! Thanks again for the help, much appreciated. read more

Everyone is very helpful and knowledgeable always willing to answer questions the store has a nice selection of bikes and accessories.

This is my second visit to them , they go above and beyond to fix bike problems. Would definitely recommend them

So, with the gyms closed, I have started riding again. I have been to Bikeway once about 10 years ago for a tune-up so it's not like I'm a regular customer. Last night while riding on the rail trail, my shifter housing broke - at 5:00 PM - during a pandemic. Luckily, I was across the street from Bikeway and took a chance hoping to a least be able to buy parts. They repaired the bike in about 20 minutes and charged a reasonable amount. Moral of the story; support your local businesses, otherwise they won't be there when you need them. read more

My derailleur and chain broke on the Putnam Rail trail on a Saturday morning. Not being local and suddenly stranded, Enrique dropped everything he was doing to rig a system so that 8 could peddle back to my starting point. Amazing service, consideration and simply charged me for the master link to get me going. No price gouge and good old fashioned friendliness. Wish I was closer to visit more often! read more

Today is April 6, 2020 and the covid-19 pandemic is going on. Bikeway took every precaution to ensure the safety of their customers and workers. Staff was really polite and friendly and accommodated everyone. I bought a bike, and accessories, and they were very helpful in assisting me pick the best bike out for me for my size and needs. I'm definitely going to support this local business in the future. read more

We were on a family ride today when my adult son's derailleur basically disintegrated on the North County Trail. He walked it up the a CVS parking lot, pulled out the phone map and searched for the nearest bike store. Good fortune smiled down and Bikeway was literally next to the CVS. The people who work there and the owner were AMAZING. 60 seconds after walking in, the bike was up on the lift being worked on. At 1st, the tech offered to repair it, make it short term rideable as he didn't have the same level derailleur in stock. The owner found one that was a lower quality but perfectly good for the type or easy city riding my son usually does. While they worked, a super nice sales person helped me pick and install a bell and light for my new bike (only a couple weeks old) as I wanted to give them additional business. 25 minutes after we walked in, we rode away with a new derailleur riding perfectly, all done at a fair price and truly impeccable service. For what it's worth, they have an amazing selection of bikes there including the marquis Specialized brand. I can't recommend this shop enough! read more

I got a flat on the RailTrail. After replacing my tire tube I flubbed the CO2 inflation. Fortunately I was very close to Bikeway. Even though they weren't scheduled to open for 45 minutes the owner was in the parking lot and asked what I needed. He hooked me up. He took the bike inside for awhile. A bit long for just air I thought. He gave it back and said I should be good to go. Not only did he fill my tire, I noticed on the ride back a lot of the grinding and wuring noises I had become used to were gone. Even though I live in Southbury CT I'll make the ride to buy my stuff from these guys. Thanks! read more

Loved their Wappingers location when I lived there. Since moving up the street from the Mahopac locale, I've been here numerous times to ask questions, buy parts/accessories and even purchase bicycles. Everyone is informative, friendly and assists without being pushy or condescending. I didn't tell them I raced BMX/mountain bikes & can take a bike apart & reassemble it blindfolded - instead, the staff continues to take care of me and my family. Enrique is a great mechanic. I will return. read more

This shop is a great resource in Putnam Valley. I bought my Specialized Stumpjumper from them at the outset of lockdown, and it was my best purchase in years. The mechanics in the Mahopac store have been great with follow up too, most recently helping me pump up my tubeless tire with their compressor when I couldn't get it to seat using my floor pump. Good shop. Good people. read more

don't waste your time ordering online with them. Waited more than a month to receive a few things. Called numerous times and was told it would be shipped out soon. 3 weeks later Was told it was shipped on "this day" thru fedex, yet it was actually shipped a week later and when it arrived items were missing from the order. Called to speak to the manager, he stated he would ship out one of the items the following day and i would be getting it the next day, never did. Was told I would be refunded instead. When you call, all that is given to you is excuses. read more

We ALWAYS shop for our bikes and bike supplies at either Yorktown Cycle in Yorktown or ET Cycle Center in Croton. My husband wanted to save a few dollars this time so he decided to go to Bikeway. What a BIG mistake. Whereas the other two Cycle centers have mature, professionals at their stores, Bikeway has teenagers. Our brand new $800 bike was put together wrong and broke disasterously after a quarter mile ride causing me to get hurt. Bikeway had no explanation for the mistake and decided to repair my brand new, 1 hour old bike with cheap, generic parts that did not even match the bike. It looked like crap when they were done. We insisted on original parts and they declined. After 90 minutes of battling with the owner we left, leaving the bike at Bikeway. We called our credit card company, explained what happened and had the charge voided. Lesson learned! Not all places are the same, and saving a few dollars sometimes is simply not worth it. For the die hard biker avoid this place. If you are buying bicycles for your children, use caution. Test them yourself before you give them to your children. This is the Walmart of Bike stores. read more

This is the worst bike shop in the USA. The manager is cluless, arrogant and refuses to help customers. They have NO respect for their customers. The mechanics are untrained and just terrible, have never heard of a torque wrench. They cannot properly build or repair bikes. I was a loyal customer for a couple years. Finally they destroyed a wheel set I brought in for service. They gave me some crap about the brand not supporting its product. They lied to me! Bottom line I had to buy another wheel set, after they got done with mine it was un-usable. I purchased my new wheel set online from Universal Cycles. So much for LBS. STAY AWAY! read more

Great experience buying new bikes with Bikeway. Enjoyed riding recreationally in the past, wanted a better bike for long rides and tours. Doug is fantastic...hooked us up with bikes and even helped us setup the car rack. We'll be back! read more

Recently purchased my new Cannondale bike at this shop and drove George crazy with all my "test rides" and questions. George was courteous and professional and extremely helpful in my decision to purchase the Cannondale 7. When I went to pick up my new bike the next day Meryl was there to assist me and was awesome! She even went so far as to help me put it in my car and make sure the bike rack I had on my car was properly secured to my vehicle. Meryl was a pleasure and I look forward to seeing her and George in the future for any of my bike needs!! read more

I couldn't recommend this shop more. A few friends and myself had just started in on a nice long Saturday ride. When one of my friend's freewheel locked up. To say the least we were in need of a shop, and thankfully this was the one that we found. We walked up after a lil hike with the locked freewheel, where we were greeted and the bike was already in the stand, getting worked on, all in the same breath. Where they proceed to an absolutely wonderful fix, and a very budget concision one at that. Oh yea and while they had the bike in the stand they did a quick brake adjustment and lubed up the transmission, just because "it looked like it needed it". All the while, as we wondered around the shop, when they were working on the bike, all of the staff in turn, proceed pointed out and explain one product or another or just talked about our route. Everyone there is knowledgeable and extremely friendly, and are just enjoyable to talk with. This has to be where I've one of the most pleasant experiences I've had in a bike shop in a rather long time. Please just give this place a shot and I'm sure you'll have as good of an experience. read more

Purchased a bike at bikeway. At the time of purchase I was told free lifetime tune on my bike. When I brought my bike back several years later the guy behind the counter said "with the free tune up we really don't do anything" nice! Advertise free tune for the life of the bike at the time of sale but when you go back to use it. They actually look you in the eye and say "we really don't do anything on the free bike tune up" read more

I went to this place to purchase a bike and went in with no knowledge of what to get. I left with a great purchase and price. Not to mention they do free tune-ups and are very honest about what they sell you. Anytime I have any questions or problems I go there and they provide great service. I trust them and don't feel like they are just trying to sell me something. read more

Ordered shoes for a new bike right before Christmas. I kept going in (4 times) to check to see if they had come in over the course of almost two weeks. One young man always remembered me when I came in and who kept helping me must have seen how frustrated I was becoming when they still weren't in and helped me get another pair. He was very nice throughout the whole dilemma and helpful with installing the cleats, I didn't even have to ask. I would definitely recommend going to Bikeway over a big box store or ordering online - you won't get that kind of personal customer service elsewhere. read more

CAUTION TO ANYONE THINKING OF DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS SHOP: BIKEWAY IS NOT RESPONSIBLE OR PROFESSIONAL. They shipped a bike to me in March 2012 that was damaged in shipping. FedEx denied the claim because it was judged to be the shippers (Bikeway) fault. Initially Doug Cory was responsive, then he just stopped answering my emails and phone calls. I've was very patient for over 2 months hoping to find a reasonable way to settle the issue but apparently he was hoping I would just lose interest and go away. Over all poor way to run a bike shop. read more

Really terrible experience. I went in with a bike that a friend had lent me for a sprint triathlon I signed up for. Everyone working there made sure to remark loudly how my bike was from " a department store" and "you're going to ride that bike???" After ignoring multiple degrading comments and how uncomfortable I felt, I left the bike there to get a tune up. A week later after no one called me to give me a status, I was told that they were going to rent me a bike that was more suitable for me. I had told them several time when my race was and asked how much the rental was going to be. I was quoted a price and I asked if that was per day. I was told no and that it was a flat fee. When I showed up, I got a few more snide comments about how my bike was a "kids bike" etc and as I was ready to take the rental I confirmed that my race was a week away. The mechanic literally stopped fixing the bike he was working on and says to me "Oh they never would have given it to you for that price if they knew how long you needed it for!!!" I gave up at that point and brought my bike to another shop who gladly made the bike rideable for the short race. The whole experience was humiliating and made me feel terrible. I'm not sure where lay people are supposed to bring their common bikes but this is NOT the place. read more
