I have moved so many times over the last few years, always just with the help of friends. Since…read moremoving sucks, I decided to hire someone this time, though I was a bit apprehensive about the cost and horror stories of people's stuff being destroyed. Putt's was recommended by a friend, and had the lower estimate out of the two companies I contacted, so I went with them, and I'm really glad I did. The two movers they sent were right on time, super professional in that kind of relaxed-friendly way, handled our stuff with great care and moved quickly. They also were really great about taking a few items that were awkwardly packed (stuff heaped in a laundry basket), and offered helpful suggestions for making sure our furniture didn't damage the hardwood floors in our new place. It was so amazing to have someone move our stuff - a task that would have taken us plus friends all day, or more likely, multiple days (not to mention a lot of exhaustion, back pain and grumpiness) got completely finished in three hours. Bonus points for being significantly under the low end of the estimate. They were also able to accommodate our preferred date, which was a Sunday on a long weekend, which the other moving company didn't offer. Everything about this experience was wonderful, and while I hope to not move again for a very, very long time, I will definitely use Putt's the next time that I do.

I recently had a very disappointing local move with Two Amigos Winnipeg. I have previously moved…read moretwice, using Two Amigos both times, and both times had excellent service. Unfortunately the mover we had the first two times is no longer with the company and it appears that the service has suffered greatly. Our move started off well enough with receiving a timely quote, a reminder phone call the day before and the movers showing up on time. Things quickly went downhill from there. First as we walked through the house with the movers to show what was to be moved, one of the movers spilled his coffee on the carpet and then just rubbed it in with his foot - no apology or offer to clean it up. Soon after things went horribly wrong. Despite having the entire front street clear of parked cars, the movers decided to back the truck up the front lawn to avoid walking an additional 20 feet. This left tire ruts in our front lawn and worse the driver was not paying close enough attention and BACKED INTO THE HOUSE! This crushed the eavestrough and damaged the soffits underneath. Again no apology. There was no communication to myself or my wife about how sorry they were for hitting our house with the truck or any immediate assurance that they would fix it. Instead the driver and crew spent 20 minutes trying feebly to unbend the mangled eaves with a pair of pliers. We decided to continue with the move and began loading the truck (now parked on the front street). When the truck was partly loaded we mentioned the second stop that we had originally booked and had included in our quote. We were told that a second stop was not included in the time estimate and that we would have to pay more than what we were quoted. I refused and said that I was very clear that there were two stops and had that detailed in writing. The movers simply stopped working and gave me an ultimatum that I could either pay more or they could unload everything that was already in the truck now and they would leave. At this point I called the company directly to speak with a supervisor. I was told that apparently the salesperson never passed on the second stop information to the movers and that somehow that oversight was my responsibility and I would have to pay for any overtime caused by the second stop. This supervisor was also unapologetic for the truck hitting my house and combative in her attitude towards me. As we had no other choice, we continued with the move. The poor communication skills continued, as the crew never bothered to tell us that they would be making a lunch stop on the way to the new house so would be 15 minutes later than us. I'm not upset that they stopped for lunch, but please tell me that so I'm not sitting there thinking that the truck got lost. The crew also didn't bother to communicate when they broke two pieces of furniture. Instead they just quietly tried to fix them and hope that I wouldn't notice. On the good side, once the crew was working they were quick. We ended up coming in an hour less than the quoted time even with the second stop - so we paid less. On the negative side they no longer have the larger truck that they once had and they were not quite efficient enough with their packing so some boxes were left behind for me to move by myself later. Back to the roof. When I spoke with the supervisor I was told a claims adjuster would be looking after getting the damage fixed and would contact me soon. Two days after the move, when I still had not heard from him, I called. Thus continued the poor communication skills that seem to now plague this company. It is now over 4 weeks since our move and the damage has still not been fixed. The claims adjuster has not once called me without my calling him first to prompt him. It seems that as they already have my money, fixing the damage that they caused is not a priority. This has added a very large headache to an already stressful move that currently has no end in sight. I do not recommend using Two Amigos Winnipeg anymore. While they are very well-priced the poor communication skills demonstrated by all levels of their company leads to more headaches than the cost savings are worth. Spend the extra money on another company and get some peace of mind.

Ferguson did the quote and it came out to be a bit cheaper after weighing. They also offered all info as recommended by CAM. Anyway, from the day they picked up to the day they dropped off, the drivers were communicative. The windows of time they offered were fairly accurate, which is understandable because of traffic and other clients along the way. They were also clear about the terms (insurance, etc.) and walked me through the paperwork. Coel is funny, knowledgable, and fast at problem-solving. Mack is super kind. Both worked really fast but took care of themselves by taking much-needed breaks. I was happy to know they value their health and our belongings. I would be happy to hire them again.

If I could give less than a 1 star I would. We booked this company weeks ago to move my in laws to…read moretheir new place for today. My sister in law called last week and on Friday and spoke to Lenny (yesterday) to confirm they will be there. They assured her that yes they will be there. They were suppose to show up at 9:00 am. At 9:30 am my sister in law calls them and asks where they are. She spoke to Kevin there and they said that they would have to postpone them to another day because of the snow and their trucks are stuck. The same guys assured her that they would be there for her the day before when the storm was at it's worst. She said that they can't postpone as this was the day they were moving. The guy hung up on her. They knew their was going to be a snow storm and when she spoke to them, it was already snowing hard. You would think they would have had a plow truck ready to go in am to plow their parking lot, but they said they had to cancel because all their trucks were stuck, real professional. When we spoke to other companies after he cancelled on us, they all said none of their trucks were stuck in the snow because their lots were plowed before their day started. So I called and spoke to Kevin. He said they tried calling her all morning but she never answered her phone, which was a lie and I even saw her call history and the only call this am was her calling them at 9:30 to see where they were. I hate liars.....so I called him out on it and told him what my sister in law said. He said she was lying and they never spoke on Friday, but her call history states they did, I saw it. He said they cancelled her move appointment because she said she cannot have it postponed. When I called Kevin, he said that their trucks are now out, this was at 11:00 am, and when asked why he wouldn't come over then and fulfill the agreement, he said that he assumed that she would have found someone else. I said a simple phone call would have fixed that and then you would know. I also mentioned that he never called her in the am and she was the one who had to initiate the phone call. He then called me a liar and told me that he would never move us no matter what and that they did not need our business because they are busy enough.....hmmm...good to know, and then he hung up on me in mid conversation. So to all of you out there looking at a moving company, avoid this company like the plague. They are a bunch of liars, and won't admit they screwed up, they could care less about the customer, their customer service is horrible and I would never, ever ever recommend them to anyone. Besides, Kevin said they are busy enough and don't need our business.

We moved from Winnipeg to Calgary from an 1887 sqft house for $12000. All of the staff were…read morefriendly and respectful. For a large house they start well but, as it's a physically demanding job, they get tired and start rushing at the end. There were boxes left open for their inspection to allow them to assess and modify the packing. All they did was tape up the boxes. Perhaps I misunderstood the service they were providing. It was the same both during packing and unloading. Our move also included up to two months storage and they had to unload the two box trucks into temporary storage for about a week and a half to keep their box trucks in operation. When first unloading items went in their respective room in the two storey house. As it neared the end of the truck load, they just loaded up the garage instead of bringing items into the house (particularly annoying was the heavy boxes they left in the garage that I now have to move into the basement and upstairs- not good especially with a bad back). Additionally, it seems they had not cleaned out their truck prior to reloading our possessions as we ended up with someone else's cut up garden hoses and a ring from a front loading washing machine boot. A number of items were damaged but for the most part it was a successful move. I think i had to work more than I wanted and expected. I would definitely invite these guys over for supper but not sure I would use them again for a long haul. I think they are best suited to smaller houses or apartments. I didn't get a professional-mover vibe from them but rather common laborers who needed direction. I don't think they were cheaper than another professional company. The other company charged by weight and after getting quotes from both, we had further reduced what we were moving. The other company would have ended up costing less due to the lower weight of items. two men were a fixed price so even though they moved less and spent less time unloading, we still got charged the same. Not good value. To be fair, they did ask at the end of unloading if there was anything else to be moved but I was too tired to inventory where everything landed to discover a number of misplaced boxes and loose items. At the time of this writing, I am not certain what is to be done about the damaged items if anything is to be done at all. We paid half up front after loading and then the other half after everything was unloaded. Signed nothing.
