The area looks a bit run down but the restaurant was full and very quaint looking. Surprisingly, they were open on a Sunday. We went in and tried to order off of their menu, only to find out that they only have a limited small special menus on Sundays. Very Italian! We ordered two entrees - ravioli and roasted chicken. The ravioli was delicious and the roasted chicken was good. The potatoes that came with the chicken though, was very sumptuous. A glass of red wine and a glass of white wine. The total came to about 25 euros. The owner of the restaurant was so friendly and funny. I'd love to come back one day on a Saturday night.

They don't speak much English but I was lucky to have the help of one woman who happened to speak decent English and recommended a speck/prosciutto with sheep's cheese and eggplant for a sandwich. The seating outside is a bit dingy and there isn't much variety if you are looking for non cured meats but hey, they do one thing well and that's all they have to do.

We were a bit too early, clearly. We had a drink somewhere else, then made our way through the square and it was packed. We chose Bar Berto randomly, mainly because it was busy and yet had one nice table free near where we could watch all the passers-by. I think this place is known for its beers, but we were doing campari spritzes and stuck with it as we perused the menu. We ordered a mozzarella di bufala appetizer and each had a pasta. Mine was the Genovese specialty - Trofie Pasta Genovese - and my dining companion ordered a ravioli dish. Both were excellent, but the Trofie was a revelation. Just drowning in the basil pesto and the pasta pieces were so unique and the texture so perfect. We loved our meal and the service was excellent. We were helped by two different young women who seemed like international students or travelers - seemed like English was their first language. So glad we chose to luxuriate on the square - it was fun to people watch and be in such a lively place for a few hours.

Made a reservation for the evening and came here at 8.30pm. Somehow our reservation got lost, but they managed to find us a table anyway. Our Bulldog was welcome as well. Staff and owner were all very friendly and took care of us well. The place was full that night, but the meals came out quickly. Ordered a plate of cold meat and cheese and a plate of fried anchovies. The cheese and meat were of nice quality and good sized. Really nice were the anchovies. We liked the way they were prepared, had a similar dish in Calabria a few years ago. Love it. For the mains we ordered the fried seafood and a the Trofie Genovese. The fried seafood was good, but honestly we've had better before. The pasta on the other hand was very nice. Trofie are a nice kind of pasta, pretty heavy and filling. Great Pesto Genovese. A Tiramisu for dessert. And that one was very very good. It's easy to find Tiramisu. But hard to find really good ones. And this one here was great. Had a bottle of red wine with. Matched very well and good priced below 20 Euros. All items were priced very well, a night out here wont' break your budget. It was a pleasant dinner. Good, honest food. But was it the best food in town during our stay? No. But enjoyable and worth the money.
