There are not enough good things that I can say about my family's experience at Rader. My father…read moresuddenly and unexpectedly passed in an accident, so none of us were mentally prepared to be planning his services just days later. What made our experience so special at Rader was the coordinator/director that we were paired with, Leward. We came to the funeral home for the first time to view my father's body and to meet with Leward about arrangements and getting paperwork signed. He was able to read the room perfectly. We were all extremely overwhelmed considering we were all in shock, but he guided us with compassion and patience. He explained every step of the process clearly and slowly. He even made us crack a smile or giggle when appropriate. He did not aggressively push any of the funeral home's services or products on us. We explained that we wanted a celebration of life at our home, and he understood and helped us determine what additional support we would need for the event. He texted us to check in on us leading up to, and even after, the celebration, and assured us that he was there if we needed anything. It was extremely special to have the support and kindness of Rader, and specifically Leward, during the most difficult time of our lives. He made the whole process simple and pleasant. My family is incredibly grateful for our experience at Rader Funeral Home and recommend it to anyone that is looking for comfort and support when a loved one passes.

He was kind, compassionate, understanding, comforting and knew just what to say. Leward put us at ease immediately. He even made us laugh a few times! Leward explained the entire process to us and helped us plan the Celebration of Life that we envisioned. He kept in contact with us to see if we needed anything, even following up after the celebration. I am very appreciative to Leward and the entire Rader team. I highly recommend Rader Funeral Home.

This review is difficult for me because it involves (this) funeral home, which -- in my opinion --…read moretook advantage of my father, an 82-year-old veteran who mistakenly sent the body of his wife here. Their charges for this small mistake cost him about the same price as his mortgage. In full disclosure, I previously posted a negative review about this place. The owner messaged me, and I took down the review to do more research. (Notice his comment here. Not accurate, but whatever. Notice as well that he just responded to a negative review that is years old. That tells me a lot.) That's only fair. Though I inject my opinions in every review (Isn't that what we do?), I would never offer up slanderous or libelous comments here. I'm a former award-winning journalist, and I totally believe in the truth. The truth about Welch Funeral Home is that the owner, during our texts, asked me what I considered to be reasonable for about 10 hours in his freezer and a five-mile ride to the proper funeral home. -- I gave him my answer (hourly wage, price of gas, etc.). His answer? "Slander away." (I have the screenshots for anyone who is interested or considering this business.) The bottom line: He seemed more concerned about a Yelp review than he did righting the situation. I paid the $1,500, and I can afford it. What I cannot afford is the intense stress and pain that the "Cammack Family" caused my family. As I said in my original review, they have a gross lack of empathy and integrity -- at least in our case. I knew the original owners of this funeral home. They owned empathy and integrity. Further, if there were a $1,500 mishap, they would not have spent their time requesting a phone call (such as Blake asked for from me), and they would not have spent hours arguing with family members about how they have to charge everyone the same price to pay off a freezer, such as they told my step-brother and sister in-law. The funeral business must be extremely tough ... at least for those who like and feel for people during their darkest hours. I don't get the feeling that the new Welch Funeral Home ("The Cammack Family -- Longview and Marshall") share my sentiments. Funerals are a huge decision. This place might well do a great job at preparation, services and burials. But God forbid that your 80-something year old family member accidentally send someone here for a few hours. Not only will you pay out of your pocket, but the surviving spouse will be left in unnecessary emotional despair. Shame on you, Blake -- and the "Cammack Family." Enjoy your $1,500.

My father was a veteran and we were told that there was some additional paperwork needed. I must add, we never received a phone call stating additional needed paperwork. Only until family members when out to visit and add flowers did we find out that he name was not on the marker. After calling and inquiring, we were told about the needed information. Once we found this out we faxed over the info and then was told the delay will be longer due to the government being shut down for 43 days. Being told today, should be resolved within the next 1-2 months before his marker is complete. The by far the worse customer service we have had to deal with and not to mention how upset our mother is. We have used this funeral home for many family members and never have had these issues. I personally have my husband there and he was a veteran!

Lakeview funeral home longview, tx My father-in-law…read more(husband's step father) passed on November 15th. His funeral was preplanned by himself and was assisted 1 year ago by my brother-in-law (at the time my mother-in-law passed). It seems this would be a contract (binding agreement by law). Since his death his estranged daughter's who have not had anything to do with him in numerous DECADES have surfaced. In Texas they have rights BUT this funeral home has continuously refused to tell us what is going on after numerous phone calls, knowing our family has already participated in these plans. Today November 22nd- there is NO obituary for my father-in-law (although it appears 7 days ago one was started and removed), information has been passed to us that his funeral will be Tuesday the 26th but no pall bearers or obituary or eulogy by family of 30+ yrs who love him and honor him. This also means no notification to many family, friends, and business associates in his life. It's like a paupers funeral....just get them in the ground. Don't plan your funeral with this business that is unprofessional and disrespects the deceased. THEY WILL NOT HONOR YOUR LOVED ONE.
