Having recently celebrated another anniversary we thought we'd update our review. The other night,…read morewe were sitting in audience at an event, listening and laughing together, and it struck me that I would marry my wife all over again. I suppose that is what makes a marriage- choosing each other again and again, and most of the time this choosing is implicit, but there are other times when it becomes a very conscious thought: yes, I choose you. We continue to negotiate the differences and misunderstandings, and sometimes hurt feelings...and i can't say those negotiations are easy, but they sure are less fraught. I guess we simply trust more and tell each other more often what's going on inside ourselves. I think we both feel the other person's love on a more regular basis? Not sure how to put it exactly. But I know we wouldn't be in the good place we are without having worked with Paula. So, happy anniversary to us, and thanks again, Paula, for rooting for us - and most of all, for teaching us how to keep close to each other. Wish there were 10 stars to give.

This is in regard to Dr. Ann Smith, I'd say the best doctor experience I have had…read more Due to change in my Insurance I was hesitant to find another Doctor (after having the same primary care physician for 12 years). It actually was a blessing in disguise when I found Dr. Ann Smith with Apple Valley Family Medicine! I was happily surprised when I met her, very knowledgeable, personable and she took time to thoroughly answer my questions and concerns, I didn't feel rushed as I always had at my previous Doctor. I have been experiencing joint pain in my knees and ankles for the last few years, Dr. Smith recommended a treatment plan and said I'd feel better in two weeks and I did and do. I am very grateful, previous Dr. just told me it was my age (54), a kind of get used to it answer. Needless to say, 5 stars to Dr. Smith and the Office environment was great as well.

Dr.Gardner is the best physician I've ever had. Sometimes I have to wait, but that's because he…read morespends as much time with you as needed. You can't have it both ways... If you want a dr to spend time really listening to you, & sussing out your medical issues, then you have to accept an occasional wait because that's also what he's doing with the patient that came before you. In a hurried world where many Dr's grab their prescription pads and barely listen before diagnosing and treating you, Dr.Gardner is a real find. I've been coming here for approximately 13 years, and he's always hit the nail on the head. Plus he has a lovely bedside personality, a sory of Zen calm demeanor, super intelligent, and smiles a lot. Mostly I appreciate his deductive skills, how he works all the clues I provide into a diagnosis, and then a plan. The office is clean and the front staff friendly. Free parking in the lot downstairs. An elevator to his office shuttles those with mobility problems. On the few occasions I've needed a same day appt, it was arranged by Cathy at the front desk, with a simple phone call from me. On weekends the dr is available on call, or his "call partner" is available. My understanding is that he is not taking new patients (but has partners who will). I assume he got too popular. However, I emailed him to ask if he would do me the favor of seeing my parents - who had recently relocated to the area and needed a dr- and he not only squeezed them in to his packed roster, but continued to see my mom weekly for a while (until she needed to graduate to higher and higher level specialists). Dr. Gardner is still all 3 of our's primary care physician though. I feel lucky to have blindly picked him out on the insurance website.

In those two years, I mostly believed the lack of sleep was…read moreanxiety related, but then other symptoms started to appear too -night sweats, a burning in my neck, etc. I thought once I worked on the anxiety, the symptoms would disappear and my sleep would improve, but despite so much attention to my mental health, nothing seemed to change. I woke up between 4 and 4:30 for months and became very familiar with just laying in the dark waiting for the day to start. If you have insomnia, you feel like a zombie. Everything good in life has a bit of a gray cloud over it when you can't sleep. Jobs, relationships, friendships, everything feels like too much energy when you can't sleep and yet somehow you have to show up for them (or at the minimum your job). I did a full work up, all the way to a CT scan of almost my whole body with my doctor at Kaiser, mostly for the sweating. They couldn't find anything wrong with me. Homeopathic doctors, Chinese herbs, hypnosis, it felt like nothing worked. A friend who had insomnia told me about Dr. Stella, and one frustrated day I reached out to her and booked my first appointment. I now wake up at my alarm :) on weekend, I sleep in. It is still not perfect, but a huge, HUGE improvement from waking up at 4:30 for months and months. What I like about Dr. Stella is that it feels like a partnership. She prescribed homeopathic medicine which helped a lot, but a lot of it was on my lifestyle-I had to improve my diet, sleep habits, take supplements, etc. Overall, it has been a really healing experience. It helps that Dr. Stella feels compassionate and also is good at explaining things-as a science-lover, this was great for me and I looked for ways to further support my healing once I understood the mechanics of what was going on. I am a fan now and would very much recommend her to my family and friends (and already have).
