On a friday during lent, looking for a place with seafood near our hotel. What a great place!…read moreWalked in to live music and got seated right away. The place is warehouse size HUGE, so i doubt they ever completely pack out. The low country seafood boils are amazing, and very generously portioned. My daughter opted for king crab legs and they were perfect. The seasoning and sauce was lick your plate clean kinda yummy! Me & spouse had the fried catfish, which was amazing. Perfectly fried and seasoned. Clam chowder was new england style. Delicious, but not hot. Just warm. We were so hungry we didnt send back. Got a local IPA on tap. It was warm & stale. Our server was so kind & honest about it. She shared that several people returned their tap beers that day because they were warm, and admitted she didn't know enough about beer to help me so the bartender would come over. Wow! That's outstanding customer service! Apparently the IPAs in bottles were EXPIRED as per the very nice bartender. So I got a Sam Adams instead. Whatever, you're here for the seafood and it is excellent. Just disappointed with a huge bar, you would expect the beer to be ok. Our server, i wish i could remember her name because she was so nice and smiley. Definitely would return here if in area again. This was a pit stop on a roadtrip vacation.

Great Saturday Night dinner choice. With the weather being so nice the restaurant was busy. The…read morewait wasn't bad at all. Our server came over with the warmest smile thanking us for coming in and introducing himself. His name is Justyn. He took care of us !!! His compassion for his job was pretty awesome to experience. I noticed that same great spirit with his other customers as well. I haven't even talked about the food because I was so impressed with our server. Thanks again Justyn. NOW, I ordered the small flounder dinner with onion rings and coleslaw. There were 2- nice size pieces of golden crispy brown fillets that tasted like fried seasoned fish at a cookout The hit is "Always" the hush puppies that look like onion rings. Theres a hint of sweetness with that special one of a kind flavor. The coleslaw was chopped fine and Delicious. The Onion Rings need ATTENTION. They looked pretty good on the plate, but there was hardly any onion inside. Flat and NO Flavor. Definitely cheap frozen rings. Captain Tom's use to have thick cut, excellent seasoned battered onion rings that you would expect in a southern seafood restaurant. The young man that seated us and the cashier were friendly and accommodating. So my dining experience would be 4 stars, but your Staff made it 5.

We almost didn't stop here, and that would've been a mistake…read more I walked in looking like the only person there who thinks salt and pepper counts as seasoning. Turns out I was exactly where I needed to be. My husband ordered the shrimp and grits, and they were phenomenal. The cornbread was incredible. I ordered the chicken and waffles. While I would've preferred a breast or thigh over the two wings that came with it, the waffle itself was one of the best I've ever had. It had crunchy, caramelized bits of sugar throughout that reminded me of cracking into crème brûlée. Easily an 11/10 waffle. My daughter loved the mac and cheese. The best part, though, was the people. Everyone was kind, the waitress was wonderful, and my daughter made a new friend before we even got our food. If you're driving through Petersburg, don't overthink it like I almost did. Stop. Order the shrimp and grits. And definitely don't skip the waffle.

After arriving they told us they would no longer be seating guests so we opted to do takeout and just eat outside. After waiting about 10mins for our takeout. SUPRISE SUPRISE They start seating again , How insane. So we requested to eat our food at the bar and get drinks etc. we were then denied, ok fine policy is policy. We get the food and go with our original plan no biggie, THE FOOD WAS HORRIBLE!!! Unseasoned, greasy, and down right nasty. This by far was one of the worst Experiences at a soul food restaurant I've experienced. Don't walk, run from this place I regret giving them another shot after 7 years .
