As you can see; online information states the Deli is open until 9. Well once again, and for the last time, they Big Y let me down big time. The last few times I have shopped there I have been disappointed . I go there less and less. Well tonight wanted grinders and they were seemingly convenient stop Got there at 6:30 and waited at Deli for someone to pay note to the fact that they had customers. There appeared to be only two employees working...one with pizza dough and one clanging pans in water that could nto be seen Finally I asked if they were still making grinders and pizza dough man said yes Finally lady came out and gave us a list of what they did not have; unsolicited. We tried three different possiblities and none were to be had.... making strike three we turned to leave. They had like nothing and were not willing to cut anything. On way out I noted all deli stuff was being covered and closed up. Seemed awfully early for what I Thought closing time was. When I got home I looked it up and everywhere I check online says Deli open til 9:00 pm.. Here is proof. I am so done with them...so done. I don't know what has happened to Big Y but it sure is not what it used to be. Big Y has THE best meatball grinder in the area. Pizza restaurants in the Norwich area can't compete with Big Y.

I love the store, but I will not shop there any more. I have many food allergies, and it is impossible to find ingredients online for Big Y products that do not list their ingredients. I bought some tomato vegetable soup from the deli, thinking I would be able to look up the ingredients when I got home. No such luck. So I called their customer service number, and no matter what I chose from the menu, it just sent me right back to the menu. After 20 minutes, I accidentally got the customer service line. However, it is unmanned, and I had to leave a message. Haven't heard a thing. Useless. There is no customer service or support. I have asked about ingredients in-store, and have been told to look online. A lie. I shop at Big Y once a week, but will now go elsewhere. I do not care to have an allergic reaction because Big Y does not care about customers except to take their money. read more

We do not have these in Ohio but this is a true one stop shop when it comes to food. I cannot believe their offer made to order meals. You can get fish dinners here, large pizza buy the slice, and a small hot food bar. Their claim to be family owned and I see why the walmart next door doesn't have their own deli and hot food bar like most. I mean this store is great. If you are not from the area, go and try them out! You will not be disappointed at all! read more

Every time I try to return my 1/2 liter water bottles there is a someone (or several) with multiple large trash bags full of scavenged cans and bottles. Today there was a family with 3 carts with multiple giant bags in each. There needs to be a limit set so customers don't need to wait for 40 minutes to return their Big Y items. read more

We've been shopping there for many years. There are specific products that we buy on a regular basis. Today, we found that several products that we always buy are no longer being carried. Between the constant rearranging of items we spend more time trying to find items only to find they have been discontinued by the store. The store has gone down hill !!!! read more

Most of the time the cashiers give a really nice customer service, the fish department needs to improve their customer service, sometimes I feel like they are bothered by the customer when you order the fish and chips plates, they really need to improve that department! Their fish and chips is really good, but sometimes they give you such a small amount of fries that you really don't get satisfaction with the food. read more

Horrible quality on almost any sale item they have, goes bad within a day. Also the employees seem very unhappy, almost as if the company doesn't treat them very well... Which seems strange with their claim of having world class employees. Ya know keeping employees happy so they in turn keep the consumer happy. Selling rotting food at "sale" price, having the highest prices for everything else, and seeing SO MANY disgruntled employees did not make for a pleasant shopping trip. Hopefully the company will return to where it was a decade ago, with happy employees and satisfied customers for now though I'll just shop elsewhere. read more

Favorite grocery store chain to begin with, but this big y has extremely friendly staff and keep their store very clean. Their on site pastries and bagels are very fresh and desserts are tasty. Good sales, not overly busy. read more

I absolutely love this supermarket! They have so many fresh food ideas at all the different deli counters they offer. From fresh fish to red meat to prepared dinners to side dishes and everything is super yummy!! They also have the best pizza I've ever had! Its sooooo delicious!! This Big Y is pretty big, imagine that. Bakery, Floral, Fish, Meat, Deli Departments all looked nice. Checkout was pretty smooth too.

Bought sandwich meat from there with a week to go until the expiration date. When I took the meat out to make a sandwich the NEXT DAY it was slimy with a greenish tint/sheen and smelled rotten....it was refrigerated the whole time and there's no way it should've gone bad. Not the first time we've bought something on sale that seems to be already bad. Sad. I've shopped here for many many years and not going back. Quality in both food and especially service has plummeted over the past few months. I've found spoiled food on the shelves a few times, and sale food that goes bad quickly after getting it home. I've bitten my tongue many times over poor service from all over the store, but kept going back because it's my elderly father's favorite place to go. Only because he knows where everything is. Tonight was the last straw as I'm trying to bag everything at checkout while 3 or 4 associates stand there joking among themselves, and making no offer to bag. Well before I'm done bagging the cashier starts checking out the next person and their food starts coming down the belt. I placed some of my empty bags closer to the cashier so he could help us finish, and he actually pushed them back towards me like I'm in his f-ing way as he laughs it up with that next customer! There are a few really good associates there, but there are several either really rude or incredibly ignorant ones that have just ruined it for me for the last time. read more

This is the main grocery store my husband and I shop at! We always seem to get incredible savings for the amount of food we buy vs how much we spent. We really enjoy the fresh sushi counter and seem to buy sushi every time we are in. The staff are always polite and friendly and we can tell that they enjoy their jobs. read more

I loved this store, the store manager is courteous and the cashiers and the ladies at the customer's counter are very helpful. The seafood department is good and the lobster bisque is good and it takes to cook it by myself. read more
