This was our first stop on our way. We stopped on a Wednesday at the opening of the winery. Nobody was in there except perhaps the owners were meeting and the lady that waited on us. The winery has been here for a while, the ride to the winery is through a small forest, which is exciting to us when winery visits start this way. We sampled two different ones. I had the reds and the wife had the whites. I like all of the wines that we sampled white and red. But the Rattlehead Red was my favorite and purchased a couple of those bottles to go. This was a good winery and quite spacious as well. I can see how this is a go to place with warmer weather v/s when we went into the code. Highly recommend giving this a chance.

It turned out to be the perfect escape from the usual college bar scene downtown and offered a relaxing day out in the countryside. We arrived right when they opened, so it was quiet and peaceful. The bartender, who also happened to be one of the owners, welcomed us warmly and shared the history behind the cidery. Super friendly and happy to answer all our questions which made the experience even better. We tried the six-cider flight, and I honestly enjoyed every single one. My favorite was the "White Out", so much so that I grabbed a few bottles to bring back to California. I'm officially a cider fan now. Already looking forward to stopping by again on my next trip home!

We learned that the owner's background is movie set design and that she worked on movies like Harry Potter, so the decor was a combination of old industrial plant and haunted house. The bar had "potions" with smoke oozing out. There were also skeletons and skulls throughout the restaurant along with spooky photos that changed from normal to scary. By a little after 8, our food had still not arrived and the food truck had told our husbands that they weren't equipped for the food demand, but a staff member came and told our girls that they would need to leave at 8:30 when their 21+ policy kicked in. I can understand not wanting small children running around in the evening, but our girls were sitting and quietly talking. I explained that we had been traveling all day and that the food truck was behind, and they seemed understanding, but everyone still felt rushed to eat quickly and leave. I think the adults were getting more cranky about being hungry than the teens, but takeaways from this visit is that the food service may be understaffed to deliver even a simple order and they will start enforcing their 21+ policy at 8:30 even if you're still waiting on an order. Probably a very cool spot for 21+, but I would not bring my teens here again, even before 8:30 for the food trucks.
