Well, hold on to your hats and grab your binoculars, because this review is about to take you on a…read moreraunchy yet exhilarating journey into the realm of camp fashion! Let me just start by saying that my recent visit to this clothing store was a downright "camp"-tastic experience. Brace yourselves for a wild ride of humor, jaw-dropping style, and the most unexpected names for sons. First things first, let's address the elephant in the room, or should I say, the leafy green in the name? Kale? Yes, my friends, the universe has conspired to bestow upon someone the name Kale, and he happens to be part of the dedicated team at this store. Kale, if you're reading this, please know that my skepticism was quickly replaced by admiration for your ability to rock an unconventional name. You're a trendsetter in more ways than one! Now, let's get down to business. I walked into this camp clothing oasis and was immediately greeted by the dynamic duo, Preston and Kale. These two should have their own buddy comedy sitcom because they had me in stitches from the get-go. Their energy was infectious, and they effortlessly morphed into the dynamic kale-kicking duo that this store so desperately needed. Preston, oh Preston, where do I even begin? His knowledge of camp fashion was as impressive as his dance moves. Who knew that the perfect way to sell a rodeo shirt was through an interpretive dance routine? He wowed me with his impeccable rhythm and a fusion of country and camp that I never knew I needed. Let's just say he roped me in with his moves and lassoed me with his charm. Bravo, Preston! But let's not forget about Kale, the man with the name that defies all expectations. Despite his leafy moniker, he was the epitome of cool. Kale's styling suggestions were a breath of fresh air, and his enthusiasm for all things camp made me feel like I was living in a comedy sketch. Who needs a regular name when you can be the center of attention with a name that doubles as a salad ingredient? Way to embrace your inner kale, my friend! Now, onto the star of the show: the rodeo shirt. I am convinced that this shirt has magical powers because the moment I put it on, I felt like a cowboy riding a unicorn through a forest of glitter. The attention to detail, the vibrant colors, and the clever design left me speechless. It's the kind of shirt that makes you want to shout, "Yeehaw!" from the mountaintops and swing from chandeliers while waving a lasso. It's the pinnacle of camp fashion, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The store itself is a treasure trove of campy delights. From flamingo-patterned socks to feathered hats that could rival the peacock's plumage, they've got it all. The staff's hilarious banter, their genuine passion for camp fashion, and their willingness to go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction truly sets this place apart. In conclusion, if you're looking for a clothing store that will make you laugh, surprise you with its unique namesake, and provide you with the coolest rodeo shirt known to mankind, this is the place to be. Preston and the Kale-Kicking Crew will sweep you off your feet and transport you to a world where camp meets comedy. So, put on your wildest outfit, summon your inner camp diva, and head straight to Happy Trails immediately.

So, I don't care to go here much, but I had to, I wasn't looking forward to the typical abuse you…read morereceive from employees as you shop there, but today was different, I had to go. So I found the section I was looking for and stopped a young lady to ask for either someone to move the totes, obviously just unloaded from a truck, or if I could get a pallet jack so I could do it. She did not reply with the usual, " not my department, I'll call someone", no, she laughed and said she wouldn't let me do that, I was a customer, so I found what I wanted, she offered further assistance and she was so helpful when her coworker walked up I told him how she helped me find my balls and how happy I was. Dynasty, is the definition of what customer service should be. She found my balls, offered more help, when I saw her again later, she smiled huge and asked if I was still okay or if she could help me further. How cool is that? Totally unexpected from an Academy employee. Thank you Dynasty! Keep up the great work!!!

Came to Academy Sports to get a Texas Longhorns sweatshirt. I was absolutely SHOCKED that they did…read morenot have ANY here. There were a handful of Texas shirts but no sweatshirts. There were GENEROUS options for Texas Tech and Texas A&M. After this disappointment, I decided to wander around the store and heck out what else they had to offer. I found some woman's mesh shorts for $7.99 that I was SUPER EXCITED FOR! (The pair of Champion ones I was wearing have to be about 20 years old and the elastic is so loose.) I was so ready to retire these and get some new ones. Only problem... so there were 2 styles: 6"mesh basketball ones (with a draw string) and "shortie" mesh shorts (shorter in length and no draw string). I decided that the "drawstringless" ones were more comfortable and searched the rack for my size. Literally ONE pair out of the hundreds of shorts in a plethora of colors. ONE PAIR. ONE LOUSY PAIR. I got them but REALLY would have appreciated more options. I don't know if they were changing over stock or what but there were tons of pallets of merchandise in the aisles. It was a little difficult to maneuver around. As for the staff... definitely not very friendly or helpful. The girl in the fitting room literally said 2 words to me and then continued to interact with another worker WHO WAS TRYING ON STUFF. Then, waiting in line, there was ONE register open (and 4 workers behind the registers). Ok? There was a customer service register open but the girl was chatting with another employee while I stood waiting my turn for a few minutes. Finally, who calls me up? The customer service girl. Couldn't she have called me up and not had me wait. THEN while she was checking me out, she was still having the conversation with the other employee instead of having any interaction with me... the CUSTOMER! Very bizarre. Just felt like the workers were more interested in chatting with other employees than helping customers. So the 3-Stars is because it is good that there is a sporting goods store here in Midland. Not happy with the selection of merchandise or the customer service.

Cashier seemed to be in a rush to get back to conversation versus asking if I found everything okay (asking bare minimum as someone who works in retail). Overall, was very impressed with floor crew and their customer service skills over the person who you would think is the face of the shift (cashier/greeter). Don't remember their name, but if I were a manager (and I have been) I would move them away from the frontend.

The first time it took over 2 hours to get my son a pair of soccer cleats. Had to come back to get me some indoors because unfortunately Lubbock's selection is 0. Store is basically empty. I've been waiting for 30 minutes for a pair of shoes. Some guy has asked me twice now if I've gotten them and, no, I'm still standing here without shoes? Went to look at golf clubs and asked a question and got I don't know and they walked away. This store is an absolute joke. Close this down and reopen the one in Lubbock where people actually care.
