I swear I feel like I owe the artist and the venue more money. Thankfully, donations are accepted and definitely should be given! Artist pictured: Colby Acuff!!! Louisiana Grandstand is AMAZING!!! Appropriately named! I'm an admirer of architecture and this place is impressive! It's a vintage space in pristine condition! Nicely designed, decorated, and very well maintained. A small venue, only 400 seats (love that!), but there's even more to it. There's a lovely lounge with tables of 4 that seats about 50 people that's so inviting. Food and drinks are avaliable at some events. You can even rent the space for private events! This gentleman in the red shirt is the owner and talent scout. I believe his name is Will (?). Very personable and more people need to know about this gem of a venue and him! He's got something really special going here that I hope more people will learn about, share, and support. Do not let this one get away, Louisiana! I cannot fail to mention Corporal J. Tilley who was on site for security. Not really needed from what I could see: this place is classy and the patrons are respectable and respectful. But I guess security is nice to have at any live event, if for nothing more than to make guests feel comfortaable and reassured. I don't believe I have ever met a more friendly or personable law enforcement officer. I would have taken a picture with him too if it were allowed (I tried). We conversed quite a bit and he even offered to take photos of and for me. What a nice man and a pleasure to talk to. The receptionist with the beautiful blue eyes was also very pleasant and welcoming. Thanks for a GRRRRREAT evening!

There was two people in there. They finished up and left in 20-30 minutes. I inquired about some of the t-shirt sales. One was featuring a squirrel cook off. $10 older shirt Oct 2025. The only size they have in stock is a medium. Sad face. The TV was off. The jukebox springs to life unprompted reminding us that it was there. We each had 2 beer and one shot. Or ticket was $18.50. At the bar I work for it would have been $26.50. The outdoor space had been cleaned up. The old bar was removed. The food shack had been cleaned out. The covered area opened up. Although the scaffolding was still present and probably holding the roof up. The lawn area inside the enclosure was groomed. The access to the grassy area outside by the bayou was restricted and still overgrown. Edit to add. The lawn closest to the property is cleaned up. The grass closest to the bayou is not.

A legitimate, yet intimate, small-to-medium sized live music and event venue such as this gorgeously renovated old tire garage which just had its formal opening for Music Prize Live on June 20th, 2019! I myself, was just back from the beautiful beaches of Alabama, sunburned, slightly tired, and I still had an absolute hoot in this here place. My friends and I jammed to visiting Nashville bands, Airpark, and *repeat repeat. It was an enjoyable time to be certain. I am looking very much forward to the future events, and the endless possibilities of this place in the near and far future. I am especially looking forward to the 2019 Louisiana Prize (Film, Food, and of course Music!!) Fest this Fall, which will undoubtedly use this space well, in addition to other locations. Shreveport is growing again, culturally, and very much so in the right direction. This garage shows this growth. And on some nights soon, you'll be able to hear that growth as well!!

But really, this isn't that either. I actually liked the previous identity of this tavern. Bayou Thunder Saloon. This was a long, long, longtime biker bar. But now that place is sadly gone. And though the structure is somewhat the same. It has been rearranged a smidge from the way it was. The bands play in a large room off to the left of the long bar and no longer to the right. I am glad to see this flip, because I'm not all-in-the-know, but I know the last several times I'd been here, it felt different. Like, it had changed. The biker scene was all but gone (which again, I thought was sad) but it was still under the same name. It definitely felt like something was going on. New ownership? New direction? Something? And so, now we know. Bayou Thunder is now Straight Jackets. I like the name. I like the rebrand. I believe they've done some more work to it since my last visit, so I'll be interested to see what that is. It's going to be a live music venue with what seems to be a hard rock edge. And I'm good with that. They already hosted a Type O Negative cover band from Dallas and I missed it. I'm pretty cheesed about that. Hopefully they'll come back. In May, this venue will host Powerman 5000, 12 Stones and Adema among others at Metalbug, a hard rock/heavy metal crawfish festival in the parking lot. Should be rad. Get your tickets. Book your rooms. And I hope on most nights before then and after, domestic longnecks will stay at the $3 mark. That too, would be rad.
