I recommend having a boat or coming with someone who has a boat because that's what most people do during the day. They head out onto the river to tube, cruise and hang out. The camp ground can get a little rowdy at night, especially on holiday weekends. Definitely a budget friendly camp ground with great sunsets and people!!

Large dog area has a hydrant, and both have a picnic table. There's enough area for you dog to run so that good. It seems like it's well taken care of. We were there on a beautiful sunny day in October and there was nobody there. We stayed over an hour and nobody came. So poor puppy didn't get to play with any friends. Overall I'm thankful so many places are finally adding dog parks. This isn't the best one out there, but it's more than adequate. Therefore I'm giving it a 4 star review. Would I return? Yes, but only if I was in the area anyways.

I was here recently with my nephew for a school friend trip. I'm pretty sure the last time I was…read morehere was for my own field trip when I was in elementary school! Something I wouldn't have noticed when I was little: the parking area is WAY smaller than I anticipated! I parked in a spot that was directly in front of a bus parking sign, but there was no where else to park (and apparently it was fine). The large indoor area with all the taxidermy animals gave me major flashbacks! They have a pretty nice collection of local species. Some of the taxidermy is much higher quality than others, but it sounds like most of it is donated, so that makes sense. The paths are well maintained, and there is a cool lookout area that we spent a few minutes at. It was a nice touch that our guide had a bunch of binoculars for the kiddos to use up on the lookout. Our guide was pretty good! She interacted well with the kids, and had all the supplies they needed to have fun. They really enjoyed skimming the pond for fish, frogs, bugs, and whatever creatures they could find. I'm not sure how often I'd go back other than with kids, but it's a nice nature center. I was a little surprised that they don't have a compost pile, but I added it to my comment card, so maybe that'll be added in the future!

It's a wooden walkway, with a ton of shade from the trees, that takes you through the forest directly to the dunes. The visitor center was closed for remodel when we were there so we could not go inside to enjoy the displays on this trip so I am looking forward to the upgrades.
