While the camp was greatly enjoyed by my daughter, my concerns lie with the administration. My daughters mother planned for her to fly from Grand Rapids back to Chicago and when I called to confirm they were glad to supply verbal confirmation that yes, those were the arrangements made by her mother however they would not send written confirm that they were taking her to the airport or to what flight. They stated they had received all flight info from her mother and stated they could not share that info with me due to my daughters mother telling them that her and I "do not get along, so they shouldn't tell me anything". I was not asking for anything pertaining to her mothers account or information, just simple confirmation that they were in fact going to be responsible for my daughter getting to the airport and putting her on the appropriate flight. My concern is... where does that withholding of information end? What if there is an emergency? What other info won't they share? I created a parent account, I am the one who registered my daughter for camp and paid half, and I have a joint custody order and control of medical... my trust in the camp is now questioned and I am not comfortable sending my child many many miles away and not knowing if or when I would ever be contacted in any emergency or change in plans. I feel part of sending you child "away" for camp is building the trust that while they are away they will be safe. This can't be the first instance of a child going to camp who's parents aren't together. I am disappointed in the way things were handled and didn't appreciate being hung up on when I stated I would not be giving my permission for my child to attend camp there again due to this instance. Wish things could have worked out differently- she did love the camp experience. read more
