Jeff is a nice guy and has helped me over the last couple of years. But today I decided to bring my business somewhere else. Looking back at the variety of mistakes etc I realize of should have left sooner. Jeff always gave me hope though. A few years back I was sold oversized tires which led to several problems. One time they told me my brakes were good. Well, 2k miles later I was metal to metal. They have regularly made mistakes with syncing the tires to the correct pressure sensors. Poor communication and follow through have been issues. Except when working with Jeff. I had hoped for better. Shop around and you'll save money. Their warranty is not a big deal. I read more

I don't know what all of the bad reviews are about. We had a great experience with the team here. My wife's Tesla needed to have the tires replaced before she headed back to Monterey and they were able to get us replacements pretty quickly. Josh was extremely responsive and helpful. Most of the reviews that I have read have either been bad because they didn't get served immediately or didn't realize that tires actually cost money. They aren't a warehouse.....they need to order your tires people! Cut them some slack. read more

Christmas Eve and while trying to run a few last minute errands...a sharp rock gave me a flat. Took it in to Big O. They were busy, but did not hesitate to fix it FAST and when i went to pay, they responded with "Merry Christmas"! I am sure the employees wanted to go home and spend time with their loved ones too. Worst tire shop experience I've ever had. I went in for these reasons: Install aftermarket wheels Torsion key adjustment Wheel alignment I got a text maybe 90 mins after I dropped it off saying it was all done. "That was fast!" I thought. Got a ride back to the shop, my truck was parked outside like it was done, but they didn't even install the aftermarket wheels! After telling the kid behind the desk, he says it'll take about an hour. I never get a call back. I call about 2 hours later and hey tell me it's done. Why didn't they call me? I pay, and then drive off but it pulls hard right. Alignment was WAY off. I head back and it takes them 2.5 hours to get it right. Dropped it off at 8:30am and they weren't done until 5pm. And the truck isn't even level! It's 2 inches high on the passenger side. I paid for them to level the front end. I'll be contacting corporate about They are incompetent, I will never go back. I suggest you go literally anywhere else. End result: I paid for a front end level, it's not level I paid for an alignment, it still pulls right, much harder when applying brakes It is unsafe to drive as is. read more

I was traveling back from Lake Tahoe with my two small children and got a flat tire. All the staff were extremely helpful especially Darren and Steve. They were able to quickly find the leak but the puncture was not repairable, so the tire needed to be replaced. They helped me identify several options including inflating and installing my spare tire. They were friendly, helpful, and fast. I would definitely recommend Big O Tires in Placerville, they truly have the best customer service. read more

They regularly do not answer the phone or forward their phone directly to voicemail or it says that their number is disconnected during business hours. I made an appointment and it was never recorded when I showed up the next day after driving an hour to get there on time. I am a senior....I took my car in for a oil change, new air filter, top off fluids and clean the battery terminals on 12/29/2020. After I drove off, I noticed they hadn't reset "check engine" light. When I brought it back in to reset, I was told they "were busy" and must of forgot to do it....WHAT? Anyway, 3/21/2021, my car wouldn't start. I popped the hood and discovered the battery terminals (a$41 labor charge) was never done, totally corroded and no battery pads were even installed... I called 3/22/2021 and was told, "bring it in and we'll fix it"...LOL, my car doesn't start, I have to totally clean my terminals to put a new battery in, which I told him...his response was "we're not responsible for your battety..."to top it off, I checked to see if I got a new air filter and no surprise, I didnt...I wonder if they even changed my oil... I contacted the big O at 85 placerville drive in regards to changing out some bushings on my lower control arms for my wifes tacoma. The parts were removed from the vehicle with no damage at all, I spoke with a sales rep who told me to come down and that they would happily press out the old bushings and press In the new oem ones that i brought in with me for 20.00 per arm. Disassembly took slightly longer then expected, however once I got them out I brought them down to said big o. When i came in i was met with the same person I spoke to on the phone, who then informed me instead of the 40 dollars per side that it would be 165.00, I asked why the price was so different from what he originally quoted on the phone and was told with tons of attitude "well you should have been here earlier." Knowing I was in a bind and no other shops were open to press them out for me I bit the bullet and proceeded to have them pressed out at this big o. 10 min later the same guy comes back and hands me 2 bent control arms and tells me that they couldn't press them out and that he wont charge me for the attempt.. there was no offer to rectify the situation and because I knew that my wife needed the truck for work the next day so I had to purchase 600.00 in control arms from oreillys to get it back on the road. I took the damaged control arms to another local shop to get their opinion on why they were damaged and they stated the control arm bushing eyelets were bent because they were not properly seated in the press and they attempted to press the control arm bushings in the wrong direction causing the control arm to distort. You would think of all people the techs at big o would know that the bushings on toyotas push from the inside of the arm out and that the big metal washer on the outside does not fit through the smaller diameter hole that the bushing sits in. I will not be going back with any of my vehicles, nor will my friends or family for these reasons. Your customer service is far below what you would expect from even a shady backyard mechanic, your techs damaged crucial and expensive parts without offering so much as an apology, I was put out 600.00 out of my own pocket; which as a disabled veteran is a huge financial hit for me and my family. This is a prime example of how not to conduct business and how to ruin your reputation in such a small community such as placerville and the surrounding areas. I will not be coming back, and I will gladly share my story with others who ask for shop recommendations, so that they are not treated as poorly as I was by your employees. read more

If I could give this place a negative review, I would. For the past 25 years I've gone to Les Schwab and they have been fantastic, but we needed four new tires and Big O was advertising a special of buy 3 and get 1 free, so we thought we would give them a chance. We drive a lot of highway miles....down to Sac and back on straight roads. Our tires have never worn out in less than 50,000 miles--rotated or not. At 1 1/2 years old, with 20,000 miles we experienced a tire that was constantly losing pressure and took it in. The manager said we needed four new tires. I wanted him to honor the 60,000 mile warranty. He would not because we had not because we missed a tire rotation. No pro rated price for new tires--nothing. Absolutely ridiculous to blame one missed rotation on tires that were all worn out prematurely. Les Schwab has always honored the warranty--rotations on time or not. One time my husband ran into a curb and ruined a very expensive truck tire and Les Schwab replaced it with a brand new one, no questions, no cost. My advise--go to Les Schwab. read more

Another fantastic service with Big O! Sadly my favorite car dude Michael was not there, but in his stead a team of true professionals helped me with my brakes, an oil change, tire rotation, and some other tidbits. Again, customer service was spot on. I was greeted warmly, served quickly, and had a lovely time chatting with staff throughout.... even if it was mostly about me missing Michael lol (pet name Pretty Eyes). Please be sure to call him that.... it will surely make him light up! Stellar job to Charles for the oil change! At other places a clip or something is always broken during oil changes... that's why I come here now. Great job! Jeff brought my rotors to me in the lobby to see just how grooved they were. He even let me take them home to show my husband! I can see why Big O shops are closing. I brought my 4-Runner in for an alignment. I just had suspension installed, and was getting a rotation & alignment... Talked to a nice guy "John" on the phone. When I arrived he wasn't there. Because I discussed so much with him I asked if he was off or coming back? The guy at the counter with unkept hair and a beanie was smug and responded saying "or something" I asked is he on lunch or something he said "or something" and got up to take my information. He's attitude sucked and put me off. While at my truck I asked, (because of experience) since my rims are black & one time during a rotation they got really dinged and a different shop had to replace them it was so bad, if you could ask the guys in back to please be careful with my rims? This is what sealed the deal for me to take my business elsewhere... the guy said, "scratches are gonna happen, there's nothing we can do" then he walked back in. I was in awe, rim locker in hand, sat in my truck for a minute, called elsewhere for an appointment and thought wow, worst service ever... I did get out and let the guy with an F in Customer Service know that this experience was horrible and I'll leave a review to spare people the lack of care or concern Big O Placerville will take with their vehicle. Treated withouut any concern. Didn't listen to my request to put spare on and I'd leave tire for repair as I was in emergency situation. I was a returning customer and had brought two sets of four from this store. After telling me it was quicker to fix then put on my spare, ten minutes later they tell me I have to replace tire. I told guy that I want them to just put spare on put wheel in the bed of truck and get me out of there. Just like I asked when I came in, I will come back a deal with it later. I go outside and drop F- bomb so I don't lose it with anyone. This guy ( wearing big coat never said his name or name tag could see ) follows me out and started yelling at me including saying " you came in and was an asshole from the start". DONT GO HERE! YOU WILL REGRET IT! Since they deleted and blocked me from posting on Facebook I decided to come to Yelp and Google to give them a review. I had an absolutely horrible experience here. If you care about your car avoid this place like the plague. They are completely incompetent of working on vehicles. Broke both my control arms by pushing the bushings out the wrong way. I ended up coming out of pocket to pay for two new control arms! Ouch! Tons of money later and me finishing the job it was done. A few weeks ago we began a five-day relationship with this business, to purchase studded snow tires. Monday, called for next day appt at 11 am. During this call I discussed the various differences between 'snow tires with studs' and 'chains' for driving in our area of Pollock Pines. I had decided on Snow-tires with studs. Tuesday, arrived a bit before scheduled time to find the store was packed. We needed the appt time and so rescheduled for Wednesday. Arrive on time, serviced right away. We arrive in late afternoon and ask about the studs only to discover that we had 4 new tires with not a single stud installed. Our order was so misunderstood at that point that it should have warned me. We wrote a new order to install the studs the following day and left the car there. Thursday, we arrive and our car is ready and waiting. We settled the bill and the Manager walked us out and chatted with us in the parking lot a bit. When I asked him if my old tires were in the trunk he nodded and smiled his affirmation. We drove home at near sundown. It was after closing time when we realized there were NO tires in the trunk. We checked the paperwork and we were charged $20 to dispose of our tires. I called and left a message as to our plan to return in the morning to get our tires and a refund of $20. (We recognize the tire disposal fee is typical but we had no intention of disposing our very usable tires.) The next day we were met with arguments to return the tires, which we refused to agree to. Once our tires were found and loaded in the car we asked for our refund. I will not bother to type the idiocy we dealt with in lieu of the Manager. We left. My husband dud a yelp review. We were called by said manager and promised a refund and free oil change to rescind the review. We caved. We waited. We watched for a refund. I sent Mr. Mgr a reminder email. Waited more. Now, here I am with the true story in almost full details ("no, you cannot charge me a million dollars after I signed the bill!"). I do expect a phone call. I will not waiver. I will not take my Mercedes to them for any services-free or otherwise. I highly recommend you do NOT use their services either. A half-star would be too much! read more

Got an oil change. Tried telling me I need new breaks. Just had them inspected somewhere else and they're fine. Got halfway home and my engine light went on. Pulled into first AutoZone I could find.... Popped my hood and noticed coolant reservoir was empty... Bought coolant and used while gallon. Never had any problems before. Engine light code said cooling/circulation system wasn't working. Further investigation reveled a broken line into the reservoir. Replaced it myself. So far so good. The piece was badly curroded but I can't help but feel like they helped it along and didn't tell me about it. read more

I sent my 18-year-old daughter to this Big O location she was having some squeaking and vibration with her brakes. Being that I'm trying to encourage her to be a successful young adult she was all on her own to try and get the quote and repair completed without my assistance. Tom took exceptional care in making sure she understood completely what was going on with her vehicle and the repairs that needed to be made. His shop staff even took the time to show her the brake pads that were worn and needed to be replaced. While also giving her all accurate information on brake pad wear and information on replacing pads and rotors. I could not be more happy with the service that was provided. I made an appointment, had my brakes pads done, rotors resurfaced, new shocks and struts put on. They finished when they said they would, all was good. They did find that I needed some work done on a boot and rod on the passenger side, work that would have saved me money if they did it while they were doing the shocks. David told me to bring it in and they would discount the labor time. I brought it in and they did what they said they would do. Things have changed at this Big O Tires store. Took our van there for tires. Hard pressured us for an alignment which I went for. Then said our brakes were metal on metal and we needed new rotors too. $ 300+ just for rear brakes. I told the guy no, I can do the brakes. I buy the parts to do the brakes and it turns out the brakes weren't even close to metal on metal and the rotors were fine. The pads were getting close but still had pad left. What a scam company preying on people who are less knowledgeable of cars. Not to mention how rude they are. Oh... this is one of those instances that I really REALLY wish there was 0 stars or negative stars or something. My wife's car was in the shop for some damage to the wheel in a snow storm. The shop is partnered with Big O for alignments and whatnot, well we got the car, the alignment was off a little bit and the steering wheel didn't sit straight. So we took it back to big O. They were more than happy to get it fixed. We went back and picked it up, my wife had to get going so I had her take off while I settled the paper work. well... she walked right back in saying something about her car being dirty. I went out there was break and tire dust in several spots on the light/tan seats. Long story short, they argued that it must have already been there, even though the car had about 4,000 miles on it and it was clearly from breaks or tires, and they had not put plastic on the seat. We went back and forth a few times, he finally took pictures and said he would send them to the owner, and said it would take a few days. I told him that was not acceptable, he said that was the best he can do. Finally after more going back and forth he asked me what I would like to do. I said I wanted to drive it up to neimans, have it cleaned and them pay the bill. He said "fine but just the one seat"...yeah because I wanted the other clean seat to be cleaned.... We planned to go to South Lake Tahoe for my sons birthday and I decided to stop by last minute to get my two rear tire changed. I spoke to Tom and he said he will get it all taken care of for us.
