I love to wander here and get lost in buckets of cheese puffs. Great deals at this store. Stop by if you have some time to kill.

But on to the task at hand. When we first went in, we thought we'd be able to access the mall through the Hobby Hut, but it turns out that it is self-contained, so we headed back out, and went through the mall via the JC Penney. This store felt perfect after being out in the summer heat - nice and cool from the AC, but not at all clammy or stuffy. We proceeded into the mall corridors, where most of the stores seemed like one of businesses, although there were some chains like Hot Topic and Spencer's. Many of the units were vacant, and the big amusement attractions were closed. There were very few people, so it felt so quiet as to be a bit disquieting. We had begun our search at Hobby Hut, but weren't surprised not to find what we were after there. We then tried a couple of other shops, but in vain. Finally, a couple of staff from different stores mentioned a store in the mall they both referred to as "selling mugs" and might have what we were looking for. We finally reached said store (Katrick Customs), and were relieved that we were able to accomplish our mission there. We availed ourselves of the washrooms while we were there, and they were spacious and decently clean. The taps worked, the dispensers had soap, there were paper towel dispensers and air dryers that were all in working order. It's too bad the mall doesn't have as much to offer as it clearly did in days past. If I were a local, I'd likely only be going there to pick up specific items rather than browse for fun.

Five Below lands somewhere between Dollar Tree and Walmart and now that things are no longer "Five…read moredollars and below", it's leaning more toward the other. It's still inexpensive and much of the stuff is cheap but when you're looking for something specific, this will do it. In the electronics area, I found what I wanted. It's cheap but it absolutely fills the need. And there's lots of candy, toys, cosmetics and such too. This store was well organized with no merchandise on the floor, prices clearly marked and no wait at the checkout. [Review 1560 of 2024 - 476 in New York - 22583 overall]

Five Below is like a Dollar Store where everything is $5 or less. They had lots of fun items, like…read moresome cool T-Shirts with Star Wars things on it, or Nintendo stuff like Donkey Kong, Mario Brothers, etc. I was also surprised to see Pocky. You know Pocky has gone mainstream when you see it in stores like Five Below, lol. Anyway, it's pretty much a Dollar Store with some slightly nicer stuff. They had these pre-charged one-time-use cell phone power banks for $3, I had never seen these before. So I guess if your cellphone is completely dead and you need immediate portable charging, you can grab one of those. They had regular re-chargable cell phone power banks (that you can re-use) for $5, but obviously don't come pre-charged. This store is in the Towne Center at Watertown shopping complex. Lots of free parking.
