    Brisket and mac and cheese
    Ed B.

Stopped by to grab something for dinner. Walked in front door, ordered, and waited about 15 minutes in the car with a beeper to signal when order was ready. Got a pound of brisket and a large container of mac and cheese. Pick up at the side window. Made for a perfect dinner for two. The next day used the remaining brisket as topping for a Panera pizza. The fat is so delicious that I ate it and took an extra cholesterol pill afterwards. Oh yeah forgot to mention the covered outdoor patio with picnic tables if one wants to eat on location. It's a nice addition to the space and far enough away from the roadway so car sounds are tolerable.

Best fried chicken in Asheville and there isn't a close second. You should call a half hour ahead for the chicken. It is soooo worth it!

This place doesn't just serve food--they serve comfort, craftsmanship, and enough smoky goodness to make you wonder why you ever ate anywhere else. The star of my visit? The fried honey BBQ ribs. Good grief. These things should come with a warning label because once you take that first bite--crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and coated in that sticky-sweet honey BBQ magic--you're officially ruined for all other ribs. They're the kind of ribs that make you pause mid-bite just to appreciate what's happening. Absolute perfection. The service was exceptional from the greeter that welcomed us when we walked in to our server (Paige). Everything else followed suit: hearty portions, rich smoky flavor throughout, and sides that taste like they came straight from someone's grandma's kitchen. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere cozy, and the whole experience felt like a hug delivered through barbecue. If you're looking for a place that feels authentic, delicious, and memorable, Haywood Smokehouse deserves a spot at the top of your list. And seriously--don't leave without getting those fried honey BBQ ribs. You'll be thinking about them long after the plate is empty.

I felt that the pricing was quite fair, considering the extremely high quality. I tried the brisket and ribs and they were both top notch. A Hidden Gem for Truly Great BBQ…read more We decided to try Iron and Oak after reading some online reviews, and I'm so glad we did. This place is truly a hidden little gem, tucked right beside a brewery. You place your order outside, and there are several outdoor tables with heaters to keep you warm. Our server also let us know we were welcome to sit inside if we preferred, but we chose a cozy outdoor table right by a heater. It was perfect. My husband was craving ribs, and he hasn't stopped talking about them since. He said they were some of the best he's ever had -- tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. He ordered slaw as his side and really enjoyed it. I went with the pulled pork sandwich, and honestly, it was exceptional. The server asked if I wanted it with onions and pickles -- I said yes -- and then asked her to add slaw on top. She said "Of course!" with no hesitation and then took a moment to explain the whole routine since it was our first visit: where to get sauces, forks, napkins, and how they deliver your food to the table when it's ready. She was wonderful. The pulled pork itself was outstanding -- not one bit of fat, just tender, flavorful, perfectly cooked meat. Truly one of the best pulled pork sandwiches I've ever had. I chose potato salad as my side, and it was delicious -- definitely passed the test, since potato salad can be hit or miss at many places. I forgot to take pictures, but trust me: this place is worth the trip. If you're in the mood for BBQ, make the drive and enjoy what I would honestly call some of the best barbecue in Asheville.

I was hungry so I grabbed a double cheeseburger. It was meaty, cheesy & oniony. The flavor wasn't too bad but didn't knock my socks off. The potato salad was good. My partner enjoyed their pulled pork sandwich! They only serve brisket on certain days so here's your heads up! If you can grab a seat close to a heater outside, you're set. They have a nice area to sit around the fire pit as well.
