The Pickleball courts are great and I love to see Pickleball tournaments that brings the community together.

Celebration at the Big Five Club. Not a large group, not a busy night. Consequently no excuses for abject failures in food preparation or acceptability. No reflection whatsoever on the team that organized a truly special event; this was all on Big Five, NOT them! Trays of small bites circulated. Room temperature or less, tough meatballs. Small empanadas with overcooked exteriors (toothbreakingly tough as I discovered in first bite). Salad was essentially undressed; rabbit food. Foreshadowing began - lots of currants on salad. Entrees were totally disappointing. Meat was seriously overcooked (well done - I don't do anything above medium rare). These were essentially chew toys. Lots of rice - but the addition of lots of currants brought a sweet element that was off putting given the inedible meat, along with the unseasoned carrot slices served as a side. Flan was dense, no creaminess at all - definitely did not taste or feel freshly made. The hosts and company made the night enjoyable and memorable. Big Five - tonight you were a big zero and provided some regrettable memories during this wonderful event. Hoping things improve before, like Que Pasa USA, this place, for me, is cancelled and gone. This is the first negative review I've ever done but it will be unjust not to do it. This is the worst club I've ever been. It's an example of a communism as a club. They do not pay attention to anything. Example: all the parks in Doral are free and they have better basketball courts (The Big Five Club) only has one and it's a disrespect for the members because that's not even a court. Tennis courts are a disaster. Then we have all the club house full of ugly old restaurants instead of using the space for something better (like a bigger gym). To enter the club there is a security guard questioning if you are a member or not which doesn't even have a system (computer) to verify. And then they ask what can they do to attract the youth. This is the perfect example of lack of Leadership and excellence. read more

THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! IF I COULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS I WOULD. I had to wait a few days before i posted this review because of how furious I was about the mishandling and pure unprofessionalism of this venue. The event was for my Aunts 90th birthday and was very important for her to have her family together on this special day and the Big Five Club ruined it for her. First of all the event coordinator, Marilyn, was the rudest and most unprofessional person I have ever encountered. She left us waiting for hours at two appointments made for pre-party planning because "she forgot". Where do i start... 1. The day of the party there was a live huge cockroach on one of the tables. When i told Marilyn about it she looked at me and shrugged her shoulders. I had to tell three other people before someone came and picked it up off the floor. Lets not forget the spider on one of the other tables too. 2. The table cloths on 4 of the 13 tables had holes in them, noticeable holes, and one of the tables had a table cloth that was too short and you could see the legs of the folding table underneath. They were all supposed to be white table cloths but they put out white and light beige. When i asked Marilyn to change the ones that were beige to white, her response was that the delivery company had not delivered the table cloths so we would have to work with what we had if they didn't get there before the party which was at 1pm. They barely made it on time. Literally like 30 minutes before the party was supposed to start. 3. The food was cold and stiff. It was as if it had been made days before and just thrown on a plate for the day of the event. The plantains could have bounced off the floor. 4.Marilyn argued with my 90 year old Aunt about every single request my Aunt made because "she's been doing this for 30 years". You could have fooled me! 5. My Aunt had a funny portrait of herself that she wanted to put at the front entrance of the party room to make everyone laugh as they came in. Well Marilyn didn't like it there and told us it looked as if it were a funeral. She obviously didn't get the joke. 6. At one point my Aunt was talking to her about the funny portrait and Marilyn didn't agree with her so she literally turned her back on my Aunt and left her talking to herself. We were in disbelief of the disrespect Marilyn showed my 90 year old Aunt. I was furious. How dare she do that to anyone and especially an elderly person. There is so much more i can say but it's just making my blood pressure go up thinking about it and its not worth it.. The only positive in this entire fiasco of a party was the piano player that Marilyn recommended. He was delightful and very good. Oh and the parking was ample. The Big Five used to be a place of elegance. I'm sorry to say that it has sunk to a grimy and incompetent party venue. I would not recommend in any way shape or form. read more

Definitely a gathering place for more elderly established Disney Cuban before Caribbean centric folks. They have wonderful space for parties and gatherings conferences and for playing cards and dominoes amongst friends. They have very good tennis courts and play grounds for two alarms of the things they have a pool and many other sporting activities available. It is a membership card and it is a great place for families. They have a restaurant inside it's open very specific hours with a bar again also centered around older Hispanic folkes with live music it is a licious restaurant nonetheless. One star is really overselling this place. We had a family event here that people travelled far and wide to attend. I came early to help my family set up with some homemade decorations and desserts and that's when I had the misfortune of meeting Marilyn. I work on massive productions and events and understand the pressure that goes on behind the scenes - this was not one of those situations. This was the most basic of basic parties that should have been pretty stress-free to set up with just the minimum amount of planning. There was absolutely no reason for Marilyn's gross, unprofessional and downright disrespectful attitude towards my family and I for making the most simple of requests that, frankly were things we shouldn't even have to be asking for - like tablecloths that all match and also aren't stained or full of holes. I wish I was exaggerating. I walked the entire room and every single linen, wether it was a tablecloth or a slipcover had stains and/or holes. Marilyn's attitude about the entire thing was that it is what it is and we'll just have to make due with it because the "tablecloth guy" is hours late and she has no idea if he's going to make it in time for our event. This was basically her attitude about everything. It honestly felt like they had completely forgotten we were having an event there that day. The clean (and matching) linens finally showed up with just moments to spare and the wait staff did an excellent job of changing them over quickly. There were decorations left up from the party the night before that I personally had to go around and take down because nobody from the venue seemed concerned about them. There was a giant roach that crawled across one of the tables as we were setting up that nobody was in any hurry to get rid of. The food was stale and dry. The sangria tasted terrible. Marilyn never showed her face once the party was up and running to see how things were going. At the end of the party she basically said she was too busy with the party next door that was bigger (i.e. obviously spending more) so she had to give them more attention. Even if that's true, that's not how you talk to a paying customer. The venue itself is in desperate need of some remodeling or, at minimum, a fresh coat of paint and spackle around the entire place. I would sooner host a family gathering at Chuck-E-Cheese over Big Five. Take your business elsewhere. They don't have a baseline approach towards customer service. read more

This place was nice. Members are mainly Cuban and seem like they all know each other. Traditional Cuban plates are served. My family ordered a variety of plates- chicken cordon blue, churrasco, filet mignon, Moro, fries and they were all delicious. Their mashed potatoes were a little sweet but everything else was perfect. My fries took a while to get to the table but once they arrived they were also delicious. Would come back but only if my family made me only because it's a much older Cuban crowd. read more

If I could give this venue a zero I would. I booked my reception with the big five club in January 2015 for my wedding that was going to be in October 2015. When I spoke to the first coordinator I told her everything I needed and wanted she was great and said all could be done and gave me a great price. In August and September I called the big five asking for my coordinator and they never put her on the phone and avoided me. On September 23, 2015 (one month before my wedding) I get a call from a new coordinator named Leyanis Bello to come in and discuss details. When I get there she tells me that everything that was previously offered was not valid and Everthing I initially wanted wasn't available. She also told me that she had another wedding going on the same day and since they were spending more money than me she had to accommodate to them more. She was so rude and condescending at that moment all I wanted to do was sink into the ground of the humiliation. I don't ever want anything to do with this place again. read more

I recently planned a retirement luncheon for two teachers at my school. The event coordinator, Maria Claudia is extremely professional and accommodating. She is a pleasure to work with and takes the stress out of planning and coordinating an event. She answered my questions via email promptly or returned my messages right away. The value for what you get is impressive. The food that was served was fresh, prepared on site and very tasty. The service was outstanding and the venue it self is very nice. I would definitely recommend this venue for anyone looking to work with an exceptional event planner to make their special day memorable as well as anyone who wishes to have a classy event at a reasonable price. read more
