we were craving chinese food in helsinki and saw that big bowl noodle had really high reviews, and it did not disappoint!
interior is modern and service was fast (food came in less than 10 minutes). you can watch the chef hand pull the noodles on the counter mirror so you know they are fresh! there is self-serve water, chili oil, and non-spicy paprika oil.
menu has a variety of noodle soups, dry mixed noodle, and fried noodle. you can choose your noodle type based on your thick/thin and flat/triangle/standard preference. extra noodle can be added for 2 euro and most dishes can add extra beef or pork for 2-3 euros. the noodles are around 13-15 euros which is reasonable given the dish is very filling.
the popular dish is the "lanzhou ramen" (looks like beef noodle soup aka niu rou mian when the broth is poured on top). however, we were eyeing the minced pork noodle with sesame sauce.

the noodle and minced pork portion is very reasonable which makes it a filling dish. we got the triangular noodles which we enjoyed because it made them very chewy but not too thin or thick. the chili oil tastes really good mixed in with the noodle. i honestly was impressed and it was comparable to noodles i've tried back home in the san francisco bay area, california.
the only thing i can think of that would make this dish better is if there was more vegetables. there were two small pieces of bok choy; i saw some other dishes with fresh sliced cucumbers which i think would've really added to the dish. otherwise, we were very satisfied with our meal here! read more
