Really great vegetarian place to eat in Helsinki. Just a few streets over from the outdoor seaside…read moreopen market. This eatery prepares a few selections daily, so the menu is always changing (the way it should be), and left up to the whims of the owners and cooks. Walk in, get in line, pay attention to the ordering process. The staff does speak English but most guests appear to be locals on their lunch breaks. We sat at a table that had a few open seats which gave us the opportunity to chat with the locals a little bit. We opted for the soup and salad, and the portions were very generous. The soup was a summer soup with lots of cauliflower and dill - Delicious! It is important to note that all the foods we ate were whole foods (not processed), with lots of flavor. A little bit goes a long way to quenching your hunger. Being someone who usually has no problem clearing a plate it was a struggle to make my way to the bottom of the soup bowl despite how delicious it was. You won't be hungry for a long while after eating either. The eatery is on the small side, so if you see a line outside you may not be able to find a place to sit. Don't let that stop you from trying this place - It seemed like they were set up for take-out, and there are plenty of parks nearby to have a picnic. We really enjoyed our meal here from a number of different perspectives. Staff was warm and friendly despite a modest language barrier and us not knowing the ordering format. The locals that we shared our table with had been equally warm and friendly. The food speaks for itself. Five stars on all accounts. It is places like this that serve to remind us what our own hometown is lacking. There is a good chance I would eat here every day if I could.

The sommelier and the servers were attentive and knowledgeable. And, of course, the plates were excellent, especially the quail sausage with truffle. Except, while delicious, I found the crayfish with brioche presentation underwhelming - all ingredients completely covered in white sauce in a white ramekin with no other adornment. Nonetheless, I will definitely return soon. 2024 09 13. M1.

One of the best meals I've ever had at this one Michelin star restaurant in Helsinki. So good that…read moreI think they should be awarded a second star. The food, the service, and the wines were all on point and we had a great experience. Due to some allergies I needed some substitutions. They graciously made substitutions for me that were vegetarian and not vegan which I really appreciated since I thought they would make substitutions for me by serving me the vegan versions of the dish. All the food was delicious but there were definitely some highlights. The spring vegetable and cheese cup, the pie, the bread, the fried quail, and all four small desserts at the end were the most memorable and impressive. I especially thought that the meringue tart and the fudge were mind blowing and so creative. I thought the claw on the quail was a bit creepy, but I appreciated that they kept the integrity of the bird. I was impressed by how fresh and local all the ingredients were and how the chef harvests from his own garden. I had never had a lot of the ingredients as they are native to Finland and I haven't seen them in the US. We opted for occasional wine parings with the food since I can't drink too much wine. They were all on point and the sommelier was very detailed in the explanations and they were spot on with the food. The herbal tea at the end was cozy and homey. But I was especially impressed with the coffee they served. So much so that we went to the roasters coffee shop in Helsinki. I'm not a coffee drinker usually but thought the coffee they served was insanely good. The ambiance was really nice and I was comfortable throughout the whole meal. I thought them putting the napkin back on my lap after I got up every time to be excessive though. I thought the music choice was really interesting and a bit weird at times because the songs were very different genres and would create different vibes. All the servers were friendly, brought a young and fresh energy, and were detailed and seemed happy to be there. The head chef seemed very serious, but was professional. I loved the drawer with the utensils inside of it Would 100% recommend this restaurant and would love to try a different seasons menu. Don't miss this restaurant in Helsinki.

The space is small and cozy- it's got that mom n' pop feel. I got the tofu burger on dark bread and the Belvoir ginger beer. The burger was quite messy to eat, but over all good. I wish there was a little less of the generic sweet chili sauce- it's a great sandwich, but the sauce could be a little more creative. I really loved that it was on dark rye bread. The ginger beer was fantastic and oh-so-refreshing with that ginger bite. I'll definitely keep Soi Soi in mind for the future! It's a great option for vegetarians. The place is tiny (and situated on the same street a stone's throw away from another great vegan fastfood place Just Vege), about 10-15 seats and the greasy smell is heavy indoors. But the food is not. It's just lovely, fresh and flavourful. At least our choices were - tofu burger in oat bread and spicy tofu in pitabread. I loved the generous portion of sweetpotato fries, but I can easily see their rather sweet flavour could be a bit overwhelming for some. They should offer regular fries too. Apart from all the mouthwatering vegan and vegetarian dishes on the menu they have lovely organic drinks in the fridge. Alas no free wifi. But lots of good vegetarian magazines to read instead. And a kid friendly corner.
