It's amazing to see how much he is thriving and truly enjoying his experience there. He has made friends (I personally believe it's due to the smaller class sizes 16:1(2 if you count the teachers assistant). Communication from the school and teacher is phenomenal. We get weekly updates from the school (more sometimes!!) as well as tons of personalized updates from his teacher. We are able to call/text/email and receive photos. I looked all over the Charleston area for a daycare for my 14 month old son. I was terrified…read morebecause he had never been in a daycare before and I had been a stay at home mom, nervous to let anyone watch him because I knew no one would care for him like I do. I looked at a bunch of daycares where all the teachers seemed tired and miserable and lethargic. Some of them wouldn't even respond to me when I said hello. I've seen playgrounds with broken toys that could hurt the children. I've seen classrooms full of kids with snot all over their faces that led me to believe the teachers refused to wipe their noses and in turn giving way to a vicious cycle of sick children. Then I found the Sunshine House in Mount Pleasant. Everyone was warm and welcoming, the kids were happy, the toys were unbroken and age appropriate, and Ms. Jane Anne had a kid in her lap and was wiping his nose! My son who is very clingy was anxious to squirm out of my arms and play on the playground and I instantly felt that he would be safe and cared for here. It's not conveniently located for me, but it's worth the extra drive for a daycare that exceeded my expectations. They even provide free diapers and wipes as well as breakfast, lunch, and snack. They also have flexible schedules so I can gradually increase his time there until I find a job. So happy I found the sunshine house!

I didn't get a chance to hit the gym before leaving, so I decided to pull in to the Y in Summerville before getting in to Charleston. This is a great facility. The weights area was a good size with plenty of machines and free weights. I was there around 10am so it wasn't busy, but it seems as though the facility could handle a decent crowd. The treadmills were upstairs in an old wooden room. Interesting feel, but kind of a small area. The treadmills and elípticals were a little crowded, so if they are all full, proximity to those around you could be claustrophobic. A nice gym in the downtown area.

And the pool is already booked out for classes and whatnot so the adult swim or family swim is only a half hour block...usually when I'm at work. The coaches are incredible--not only are they knowledgeable and supportive, but they genuinely care about each athlete's growth both in and out of the gym. Our daughter has developed so many gymnastics skills, but the lessons she's learned go far beyond the sport. At Davita's, the athletes are taught the importance of teamwork, perseverance, resilience, and grit. The coaches create a positive environment where hard work is celebrated, friendships are built, and every gymnast is encouraged to do their best. The sense of community at Davita's is something truly special. We are so grateful to be part of a gym that invests in developing confident, hardworking, and kind young athletes. We highly recommend Davita's Gymnastics to any family looking for much more than just gymnastics instruction.

I have always found the staff to be very helpful. Tammy & Denise are very helpful & knowledgeable. Some of the reviews mention the staff being tough & the place smelling. Both are accurate. The staff are rounding up a lot of kids that are often wound up & loud. And what I have witnessed is the staff trying to get their attention, keep them safe, & teach them gymnastics. Kids can go here to learn and have fun but it's not a gym to run wild. It does smell like a gymnasium where athletes workout & sweat. It's a wide open warehouse type building with a lot if mats & kids. I'm not sure what could be done to make it smell fresher. As with any children's/young person activity, you have to find the right fit for your child. My suggestion is to give them a try to see if they are the right fit for your family.

GAC consistently coaches multiple athletes from barely walking toddler age to helping their athletes achieve collegiate success and scholarships. Our daughter has been with GAC and coaches for 18 months now and we would have never imagined the energy, time, consistency and the winning mentality that is present day in and day out here. We are so grateful how much they've poured into her and how it's paid off. While we do believe our daughter brings a lot of passion, and drive etc ...there is no doubt that her skills and confidence has been amplified because she is surrounded by such a committed owner, who empowers all her coaches which then trickles down to the athletes. Well I guess this is still a long review.
