Good paper, nicely written narrative-style writing. Just what a small town newspaper should be.

I wish I'd picked up a copy of this on our first day. It's a nice way of finding out what's going on in Marfa. Tiny town, but lots to know.

Tune in! Turn on! This is the only radio station in town…read more Wanna jam on the jam box? It's Terry Gross on NPR. Wanna get down on a hot Friday with some tunes?! It's Ira Flato on Science Friday. Bless their hearts, these guys at NPR Marfa are trying. Don't like what they're playing? You can stand outside their studio and shout through the windows at them. Their recording/broadcast booth overlooks the main street. They have mostly nationally syndicated shows that they play, but they do some local stuff as well. It behooves them to keep it fresh, or another radio station might move in. I like that there's no advertising on this station, other than underwriting, which is different from advertising. It's more of a public service announcement that they're bringing than an ad message. The DJs here seem to be real relaxed, and are having fun working here. They're not like Ira and the Douche in the Morning- it's almost like a calming effect that meshes well with the expansive West Texas landscape. Sometimes, they even play classical and hang up the microphone and just let the music take it away.

Now that I'm a member of this fine station I must remedy my previous review. West Texas is at its…read morebest with Marfa NPR. I love it all, the progams, especially Science Friday (yes, I am a nerd), love all the talk and I even love the occassional dead air. If I could hug this station I might even try to make out with it, no surprise.

Avalanche of news! This small-town newspaper focuses on…read moreAlpine, Tx, and not much else. There was no national news in here to speak of. Front page headlines above the fold were about local school politics. It seems sorta strange with so much news going on in the world, that most of it isn't mentioned in here if it's not happening in Alpine, Tx. The Texas Crossword is amazing. It's in the shape of Texas, and the clues are ALL about Texas themed subjects or trivia. Yehaw! I'd subscribe just for the crossword! Here's a sample clue: 5 letters - "TXism: "cold as __ _____ house seat in January." The classified ads are pretty stacked. There's a lot of ads in here. They have a fun cooking section that seems to be written locally. In fact, not much of this material in the newspaper seems to come from the Associated Press at all. Boonieville seems to be the local cartoon. There seems to be some inside humor here. The letters to the editor are pretty hilarious too. There's some funny people in Alpine.

I went to school in Alpine and love the paper and the news about Alpine no need for other news…read morebecause I can get that anywhere. The problem is I moved in May and requested a change of address which I changed on my account information. To date I have not received a print copy which was part of my subscription plan. I don't know how hard it is to change an address, but I am not getting what I paid for. We need to improve on this.
