The dessert we had asked for was the Knickerbocker glory as we had done a recci the week before and was told they had sold out so I asked that as we were booked in for a meal the next week would you have it then and the answer was probable, only to find that they were sold out again. The staff were very friendly and the ambience was good

It's spacious, modern, bright in the main part with quieter darker nooks to hide away in. It has a friendly bar, decent meals, and good meeting rooms - it's an ideal meeting place for groups and for group meals e.g. a works do. It caters for most tastes, and prices are very reasonable. Occasional mistakes and flaws crop up with meals, which are usually rectified easily. I've never seen any of the communal areas anything but clean and tidy and in good repair, which is sadly unusual for even chain pubs these days. It's modern and well-cared for. I've been visiting regularly for about two years, but also used to be taken there about 35 years ago, and apparently it's vastly improved!

However, I did have a couple of issues with the room to begin with the heating was very limited The water in the shower was extremely hard they could really use a softening system for the water It makes it painful to take a shower because of the hardness of the water The hotel room was very comfortable. I slept well and everything was very nice and clean inside the room.

The wait to get a drink took quite sometime to get served, although when we did the barman was very friendly and smiley. We went to our table and all the decorations and ambiance was really quite lovely. Our starters all came out quite quickly and were tasty. They have soup of the day for starters, a good sharing selection and other starters. All were yummy. We then waited quite some time for the main. They came out and the fish and chips x2, were a success, and the dirty burger had lots of delicious fillings in, the wagyu burger was a tad tough, but very tasty. Fries with the burgers a bit overcooked. We didn't get table service whilst eating so had to pop to the bar for more drinks. Very nearly a 4. But the waiting was a bit annoying. Will 100% go back and eat there again though. Decent amount of parking. Clean.

Its the traditional pub grub that is always popular. The puddings are just to die for. The vegetarian sauages are a let down. They are dry and tasteless,. don't go there. The staff are hard working. The pub needs more staff. We spoke to the manager bout this. He said the company that runs it won't sanction extra staff. There is Real ale, two actually.

The food is by far the best I've had in a pub in a long time having the ability to swap potatoe from chips to more healthy options has definitely been aiding me in my weight loss. Breakfast I would say is the only down side if you are use to premium inn breakfasts as this pub is not attached you will not be getting the standard breakfasts would be nice to have cereal on the menu but sadly not to be but on the plus side the full English is extremely lovely as is the waitress who has survived me every morning and after the first few days she has my off by heart I'm so glad I'm hear for about two weeks to carry on eating my way through the menu. Would love to mention the gent who has been serving me for many nights but I've never caught his name but thank you
