Before entering the store, I wasn't sure if they were open since there wasn't a open or closed sign in the window. Although there was no COVID-19 precaution signage clearly posted, I liked that all employees and shoppers were wearing masks while shopping inside the store. Once inside the store, I noticed employees hard at work stocking shelves. I appreciated being asked by an employee if I needed assistance not too long after entering the store. I like that all sport area are clearly labeled although I think was annoyed that I was unable to locate running items since there was no clearly marked running section of the store;the closest I could come to finding running related items was in the fitness section. Another minor annoyance was that although there were boxes throughout the store, they were completely out of hand warmer packets. The store is vey well laid out and is great for most sports enthusiasts but if you're someone who's main sport is running, you'll definitely have to look elsewhere for running supplies. read more

Last time I came was pre Covid19 and the experience was awful, guess they got new management since and it's really turned around. The manager Daniel, was super helpful at helping us find cleats and a bat for my little one, and he took his time with us since the store wasn't too busy. Then I saw him literally tie an elderly man's tennis shoe when he was having trouble. Great service and great product selection, I'll definitely be back. read more

This location is clean and staff are friendly and helpful. We come here all the time for shoes for all of our boys they have great prices and they always send me deals so sometimes I walk out of here feeling like I robbed them They also have great gear for many different sports. I have bought tennis,football,swimming and wrestling gear from this location. My son's are pretty hard on there shoes and these last longer than most. We also come to get our day adventurer passes for parking at many different national parks. We will definitely be coming back. read more

Bought a $60 softball bat for my daughter, got a size 32 instead of 33. Went to exchange it within a week but didn't have receipt, they wouldn't do it even though bat was unused. Spoke with Daniel the manager and said I needed to go through the factory warranty, I was taken back. Daniel pointed at a bat policy, I asked why customers aren't told about the policy when they buy these items and he said they don't, just pointed to a sign. I've been going to this Big 5 since I myself played baseball in little league, have always went to that location to buy everything and they can't exchange a new bat for another new bat, $60 value. Sucks for sure. It's not a $300 bat, it's a $60 bat. Store is going downhill hiring employees with poor customer service that don't look like they want to be there, don't greet customers walking in, don't greet customers shopping. I'm going to try other sporting good stores moving forward, Big 5 lost my business. There were 4 workers standing around at cashier stand socializing, at same time customers are shopping. Great products sold in the store but the personnel including Mgmt need some help! My brother in law purchased a trampoline but when we went to pick up for him; they sold it! A week later went to pick up & Previous mgr no longer works here & we had to wait so they could discuss! The receipt is present - what is there to discuss? I bought a inner tube for the bike that I bought at big five, per the recommendation of the associates at this big 5. I also bought a pump. They have a zero return policy mind you. When I got home I discovered that the valve on the inner tube is not compatible with the pump I bought. When I came back to get the compatible pump they didn't even carry it. I wanted to buy a inner tube that was compatible with the pumps they sell but they don't even carry an inner tube that is compatible... So I wasted money on a bike a pump and an inner tube. I also talked to the store manager and she rolled her eyes, as I asked her what I should buy. She just said she would talk to her ordering manager and told us to have a nice day in an effort to get us out of the store. read more

Still one of my favorite sporting goods stores. I look forward to their adds in the mail because they really can have great sales. The service here is great. They always greet me when I walk in. They have also carried items to my car for me. This location has been here for years and is located in a plaza that is now rundown. Thank god the service is still super! read more

Keeping it short, I came into the store & was greeted by the Manager (forgot his name, but we established later he was the store manager). I asked for some help, which he wasn't able to help me with, which is ok. But after I verbally cornered him on an issue (he made a statement that he wasn't really able to back up regarding a product), he just turned & walked away. How Rude!!! I asked him "So that's it, huh? Conversation was over I guess!" (I never raised my voice or became hostile). He stated he was done, and my response was as a manager, couldn't you then say, "Sorry I couldn't help you... have a great day..." or something like that? He believed he did nothing wrong. Really? There's an expectation when a person is the store manager. He didn't know who I was or if I was going to be spending lots of money in there (which I planned on doing). He lost out I guess. Being African American also makes me believe that it could've been a racial motive as well, but we'll never know. I have no choice but to assume that, but I'll never go there again, that's for sure! read more

STERLING / HIGHLAND LOCATION : SAN BERNARDINO There's something to be said about customer service, and the importance of it keeps business thriving. Well, this store needs to definitely go back and learn the basics. Several trips on differing days has shown that this store has poor customer service. On more than one occasion you are left standing there looking around for someone to come over and help you (or at least to say 'can I help you?".... nope. They see you standing there, and they walk on by or chit chat with other employees. Even the manager is unprofessional as far as customer service goes. More than once we've been overlooked and ignored. If this store doesn't do something about how it treats its customers, I can easily see this branch closing down. read more

Bought a air mattress from Big 5 in Highland a while ago and used it recently.. woke up in a taco position in the middle of the night.. just tried to return the air mattress for one that works..The manager stated that items have to be returned within 30 days with the receipt and if I wanted I can deal with the manufacturer of the air bed.. My children are in their 40's and I have purchased items for decades from Big 5 but I will no longer being doing business with them..if you only use products on occasion, and it works fine for a few uses then no longer works properly.. the store should take the product back for a return and deal with the manufacturer not the consumer.. it's just bad business and not good common sense .. read more

Customer service was okay, no complaints but there is room for improvements. No one asked if I needed helped even though I seen a few associates roaming around store. I asked for help and received it, but I had to ask for it. I love that I was able to use my $10 of $50 coupon without any issues. They had alot of good deals as usual. Location isn't the best but it is pretty good considering the city. I was impressed at how many customers where there when I was at 5pm on a friday. They must be doing something right. Had a great experience here. I was greeted by a smiling cashier when I entered the store and greeted by another smiling employee as I walked to the back of the store to the shoe area. There was a very friendly employee in the shoe area who immediately asked if he could assist me and made sure to stand nearby whenever I wanted to try on a specific shoe. I had a purchase order from my work that required me to pick up the merchandise at this store, this had never happened before, but what I realized I had forgotten to include shipping so I had no other choice then to go to this retail store, I'm glad I did the customer support was amazing, store manager Erica was unrelentingly helpful I was somewhat trepidatious in this endeavor because of past experiences with open purchase order with retail stores always ended with "nobody told me nothing " but Erika was so resourceful and pleasant I wanted to stay longer, thanks Big 5 Store #142 I will go out of my way to come to your store. read more

I have had 2 Major Issues at this specific Big 5 and I am deeply concerned on how they run their firearm counter. 1st issue is when I purchased my firearm safety certificate from them. They forgot to sign it. Which I didn't even catch until I went into Turner's to purchase a firearm and I was rejected by the DOJ because of Big 5's mistake. This was bad enough and embarrassing. But my troubles didn't stop there. Trying to get Big 5 to make this right turned into a huge deal. The manager there didn't know anything so I had to contact the corporate center and explain everything 3 times before it was actually taken care of....but of course in the end I ended up having to pay the entire fees all over again. This was absolutely ridiculous!!! 2nd issue happened today. I purchased a firearm 10 days ago. Then today when I went to pick it up I was told by the Manager that I couldn't pick it up because she didn't have access to release it to me...so basically they sold me a firearm they told me when I could pick it up and I arranged my whole day in order to be able to make it to the store to pick it up and they were unprepared to full fill there duties. Then I'm told I will need to come back when there is someone there who can release it to me.....ok so how am I supposed to know when that is!!!!!this store doesn't even earn 1 star but unfortunately it's the lowest option available to select...poor management.....poor customer service.....and definitely poor quality of service... I gave them a second chance after the first issue and they screwed it up. I will never ever purchase anything in this store again... read more

Went in there tonight and got very rude costumer service. The girl named Leslie at the check out had a stank attitude and was not friendly at all. When I came out of fitting room and asked her for my other items she says oh I'll get them and continues to spray and wipe down a cabinet taking her sweet time while I'm just watching her like are you serious then casually gets up all slow to go get them behind the counter when she could of just hung them outside the door. It was 3 pairs of shorts for my kid and I didn't even have a purse like I'm really gonna try to steal them or something. Outstanding Customer Service by the Manager Michelle; I have shopped at the Highland Big 5 for years, this store sets the bar for the others when it comes to customer service. I have bought all my sporting goods here, guns, ammo, fishing, camping and shoes here. They have the best price and quality. The staff are always friendly and helpful. They are knowledgeable about the product they sell from the shoes to the guns. I bought a pair of Asics running shoes that had a defect in the heel. I took them back to the store and got an exchange. A few months later those shoes also developed the same problem. I still had my receipt so I took them back and explained my situation to Michelle the manager she took my information to Corporate office and was able to get me a 3rd return for a 100% return exchange for a new pair.
