I was pleasantly surprised that the items I purchased looked even better in person. The staff was young, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful--which I found refreshing. There are lots of old crabby people in these types of businesses. They even wrapped my breakables, which most auction houses do not. They also helped me load the SUV with the heavier items. There is a treasure trove of antiques at this location. They do auctions, but they also rent their wares to the blossoming film industry in the area. Items do not have prices, but the manager will give prices for retail sale if asked. I found him to be knowledgeable and fair with his pricing. The dude gave my mom, who was with me, precise directions for returning to I85. Nice dudes, nice business practices--I will return!!

I chose to use Max Sold because I needed to sell off most of my household belongings including…read morealmost all of the furniture in a very short time frame. This worked and the sale was pretty successful. What was not were the two pickup days and the post-sale customer service. The woman in charge of my pickup had a serious attitude problem and became increasingly rude and aggressive towards me because the items were not assembled the way they should have been. I paid one of Max Sold's partners over a thousand dollars to do the organization and listing at the beginning of the process, and when the pickup team arrived, they were not happy with the way things were handled. There was WAY too little time and too few staff assigned for pickup. In addition, I was promised by my MS rep that the large items would be picked up at the end of the second day to allow pickup of smaller items on table tops and shelves to be picked up first. This was completely false. The very first person to show up had bought a 5-shelf rack full of items. The rep also assured me that the staff on site would make sure no damage was done to the house by those removing furniture. This was also false. Since there wasn't enough staff to monitor the buyers, no one was watching as large pieces of furniture were moved out, causing damage to the walls on two separate occasions. After the pickup was over, I was unable to get anyone from customer service on the phone regarding the problems. It seemed no one was willing to take my calls. After calling twice per day, every day, I finally got my rep on the phone. He didn't want to hear about the issues with the pickup team, and wanted ME to be the go-between between Max Sold and the rental management company regarding the damages. This process was supposed to make my life easier. It was supposed to all be handled professionally by MS. I had to insist he contact the management company and deal with them directly, which he did. Then came the sale report and my check. There were FIVE items that were refunded, none of which were discussed with me. I know that four of them were exactly as described and accepted by the buyers upon pickup. The fifth was a printer that was missing a power cord. The buyer researched on his phone a replacement cord and chose to take the printer as-is. Why weren't any of these refunds discussed with me??? One was a very expensive stained glass window which was in perfect condition, with the hanging hardware, exactly as described. So the buyer got a beautiful piece of art FOR FREE?!? To say there were serious bumps in the road is an understatement. My advice is to either do a self-managed sale where you organize the items and handle the pickup, or have them (not a partner) handle the entire process, but NOT while you are trying to pack and move. I'm mostly happy with my check, but this was still WAY more aggravation than it should have been.

Man this place is cool- but wildly expensive…read more I have been in the antiques game for a while now and am very familiar with pricing, piece history, time periods, etc. If you are new to buying antiques and looking for a few interesting pieces, this shop is not for you unless you are willing to invest some serious cash. Or of course, unless you just just want to browse (which honestly I highly encourage! The place is like a really beautiful museum). From my own personal experience, I will tell you that you can find many of these items or items very similar at auctions, estate sales, large wholesale flea markets, and so on-- but obviously that requires time, effort, resources, and a keen eye for antiques. While most of the items in the shop would still innately be on the expensive side regardless of where you purchase (because of what they are and where they're from), the extra markup that you are paying for here is for all the work to be done for you. All (and I do mean ALL) of the hard stuff has been taken care of like finding the actual piece, cleaning/refurbishing as necessary, and staging vignettes for inspiration and decorating. This comes at a premium and the markup could be worth it if you have the money or are just willing to pay for their efforts. But for me, the thrill of antiques is in the hunt! and the negotiation; gotta love a deal. Plus, I enjoy refinishing or cleaning an item myself- which can increase its value dramatically and making my investment that much sweeter. I did love that majority of what I saw when we went were super interesting European antiques and architectural salvage- which are kind of my weakness. Also, the stars of the shop are without a doubt the oversized and incredibly unique books around the show room. All are in exquisite condition which is amazing considering many are from as far back as like the 1600s. Some were bound in velvet with metal trim, some were in a material similar to leather, there were one of a kind volume sets- I have never seen anything like them before! (insert heart-eye emoji). The books were between $300ish upwards to the thousands and are the only things I actually considered purchasing. All in all, the place is spectacular and lovely to browse- but that's pretty much as far as my interest goes with regard to shopping here.
