Red gingham curtains, cow paintings etc. You have to take a snow machine to get up to this place & if you miss the occasional times that it goes back down to the town you have to toboggan - awesome! The breakfast & evening meal were included in our nightly rate & the price was ridiculously good! The ribs were outstanding. There's an outdoor hot tub which thr owners will gladly fire up for you in the snow. Staying here felt like a fairy tale. I can't wait to go back!

They were so excited to take me to Spielberghaus because the journey to and from the restaurant is so much a part of their favorite family traditions. First of all, no cars are allowed to drive up the snowy path that leads to the cabin. You have the option of taking a large snowmobile or a "pistenraupe" all the way to the cabin for a few euro. We decided to walk up the path because it was such a beautiful night. The 45 minute walk was definitely a challenge as it is all uphill, but you cannot beat the views and scenery of this special place, it's truly magical. At the top of the hill, you feel like you're discovering a special hideaway with the warm lights glowing onto the white snowy banks outside. Indoors is perfectly decorated as you would imagine an Austrian hut in the Alps to be, complete with floor to ceiling wood beams, and local music playing in the background. Our meal of goulash, schnitzel, apfenstrudel, and beers was definitely well deserved after our walk. Service was top notch and so hospitible, it felt like we were in someone's home. My favorite part of the experience was the way home. Sleds are available to rent for you to take down the path you just climbed up! Believe me, there is nothing like a sled ride that lasts 15 minutes down the most picturesque snowy setting you can imagine. Truly a memory that I will not forget that I cannot wait to repeat already. Go and enjoy yourself!

If youre skiing down at the end of the day its impossible not to go here as loud music welcomes you even before you get down the slopes. Glühwein, heiße chokolade, wurst, apres ski music and populair charts, surrounded by snow and ice...this is a typically Austrian venue for vacation in the snow! Thinking of apres ski, this is how it should be! Starting 7pm the restaurants opens! The only disadvantage is that its located a bit up the mountain, which is ok if youre still on the slopes at the end of the day, but less fun if you have to climb up, after a shower and dinner in the valley. Dont get me wrong, its totally worth it...although its only packed with young people (for a reason...if you feel old ánd had an exhausting day on the slopes...you probably would not want to climb up the mountain again..!!). They usually play rock and charts, sometimes a bit too loud to have an actual conversation..but ok, youre here to party so whatever! The interior is great! Decorated with fake goats, stuff that reminds you of snow, and dark wooden tables and chairs..no better, the whole venue is made out of wood, even the bar! People end up dancing on the tables..and yes, thats alloud! Only thing is...how to get down after a night of partying at this venue? Slide down is the best option, as walking will make you slip for sure (there is no path down, only a lot of snow..). Me and my friends tried this before with old garbagebags...but unfortunately we were still as soaked as we would have been without!!

After finally making it there (and in the meantime trying to help out quite some other people making the way up to the entrance) you can leave all of the hard-work of getting inside behind and enjoy great music, great atmosphere, and some nice beers :) However, at the end of the evening, you will need to get down to the street again. For some reason, going down the slope at the end of the evening is a lot more difficult than going up the slope to get to this place :) Makes for a great time though :) And when you made it safely down, only then you have people tell you that there is also a small tunnel from the road which you can take..... Be sure to find that if you just want to get to this place easily :)
