Closed on our new house on 3/15/18, and had Bica's Lockshop come out that same week to quote rekeying the locks and replacing the sliding glass door lock, which was broken. We gave a key to a painting company, knowing they would only be valid while they were there. When they were finished, around 3/22/18, we had Bica's Lockshop come back to do the work quoted previously. There are three doors and a sliding glass door, all had different brand locks. In order to use the same key, two locks and one deadbolt had to be replaced. Bica's Lockshop came and did the replacing/rekeying work on 3/30/18 for $204, with them needing to return to fix the sliding glass door lock. The locks he did replace do not turn, the key would sooner break off in the lock before it would unlock the door. No problem, I have been patiently waiting since 3/30/18 for him to come out and correct this, as well as fix the sliding glass door. The last call he returned he was to call me right back after calling to check when the sliding glass door lock would be shipped. In that call I said it was okay to wait for the sliding glass door lock to arrive (he had to order it) and then fix the lock on the same trip, but he actually even insisted on coming to fix it right away - great. He never called back. Never came to fix the lock, never informed me of when the heck the sliding glass door lock would arrive.
Not a big deal. I patiently waited for a return call for a few days, then I called and left a reminder voicemail. No return call. A week later I call and leave another voicemail. No return call. I don't know how many voicemails I left, I think 4 and waited patiently since 3/30/18 to today, 5/13/18. The last call he answered, insisted on fixing the locks right away, and would call me right back after checking the sliding door lock status, would have been around 4/1 or 4/2. I patiently waited, even without several of my calls not being returned, assuming maybe he/they were having life troubles or otherwise a difficult time. I am an extremely (underline that) patient, compassionate, and sympathetic person, this would not have bothered me whatsoever. But alas, Bica's Lockshop will not return my calls, will not come to finish the work nor fix their own work - they just won't - nevermind the accomodations I provide (whenever you want to come fix it is fine by me!) - they just won't answer the phone or return a call... ?????? ... ???? Um, yeah. It is now 5/13/18 and I have to find another locksmith to pay to fix Bica's Lockshop's work. The one I found said he is unable to order/replace the sliding glass door lock but he can fix Bica's work. Great, so not only do I have to pay to fix Bica's work, I have to figure out where to buy a replacement lock for the sliding glass door, so even if this guy comes and fixes Bica's work, Bica's work still isn't finished! I JUST WANT BICA TO DO THE JOB THEY SAID THEY WOULD, AT THEIR OWN CONVENIENCE. But I can't get them too.
Edit: Bica's ended up sending a check refunding the previous money and completing & fixing the previous work. Better late than never, and at a cost of 0.00, I'm thrilled. To be sure, I don't think this kind of experience is at all common. They have a long and solid history of satisfied customers, and you will be too. As i expected this was a rare event, I just would have appreciated being aware.
I would use them again, despite this occurrence. read more
