There is not much social distancing and masks were not in abundance.....ok, not present, at this home town cafe in Bartlett, Nebraska. We stopped to see the Herb Mignery bronze sculpture garden and Bob, a great town ambassador, suggested we check out the Friday rib special at the Bibs & Boots Cafe. We were glad we got there early as my husband got one of the last orders of the special.
The aforementioned special was $9 and included 8 bbq rib bones, scalloped potatoes, peas and bread. I ordered the hamburger. It was served with pickles and potato chips for $3. My hamburger was on a soft, fresh bun and hand pattied before going on the grill--the cafe is small enough to view the kitchen where I observed a veteran cook filling orders. I later learned she was the proprietor.
Service was quick, they brought out the special first, and my husband took pity upon me and shared before my burger arrived. Our water glasses were kept filled and our server knew her customers by their first names.
