I love my local library.
I love how it has everything I need without being overwhelming, unlike big national libraries that have floors and floors of books and documents.
There's an ample supply of books for adults, teens and children in both english and french. In more recent years, they've expanded their collection of movies, music and video games which can all be borrowed free of charge.
One of my favorite features is that you can make a suggestion for a book if the library doesn't have it, they'll put it on their next order list. An author I adore was coming out with a new novel and instead of rushing out to the bookstore, I knew I could rely on my public library to have it in stock when it came out.
In the past, there used to be a small fee for reserving books but that has now been lifted.
You can borrow books for 21 days and even extend that time if no one else reserved it. All that done with a click of a button from your online account, accessible from home.
Like all libraries, they have great staff on hand to help you with your search or for suggestions. There are many activities for children, particularly during summer, book clubs, seminars on job hunting like writing CVs, to parenting tips or homework help.
There are designated areas to study and read peacefully, or rooms you can book for group projects.
Many computers and printing services available and free wifi throughout.
It's a beautiful, modern looking building with recent technologies and a wealth of information to surpass the average person. Although the library may be inhabited by many students, I encourage anyone and everyone to take a look, get back into reading - discover something new. Best of all, it's free. read more
