The Botanical Gardens are connected/right next to the geological museum…read more The main highlight is that they are open fairly early in the morning and are free. That and the fact that botanical gardens are just gosh-dang beautiful. The park closes a little early in the evening, so I didn't have much time to explore before needing to clear out unfortunately. There is a part of the garden featuring hops and beer-helping plants. Loads of paths, lots of greenery...you can't go wrong. In the center of the park is the Palm House, which is spectacular to look at from the outside. It costs extra to go in, and I was at the end of my budget so I didn't get to go inside to see the exotic and tropical plants. If you like walking around in nature and looking at pretty things, you should come to the Botanisk Have. Also then you are close to the national art and geology museums...three birds (attractions) and one transit stop! Worth a stroll through!

We didn't have a lot of time to explore this beautiful park here in Copenhagen, but the areas we…read morewalked through were gorgeous. It is advertised as a romantic garden park, and that name seems very appropriate. There is lush, beautiful green everywhere, with flowering plants throughout. Several little lakes and cute bridges are found throughout. Swans, ducks, geese, pigeons, and seagulls were found in many places. There was an area for kids with many young families gathered for some special event the night we were there. At another part of the park, it looked like people were arriving for a concert of some kind later that night. There were a lot of people enjoying the park, but it never felt overwhelmingly crowded, as the park is so big. If I lived in Copenhagen, this park would be a regular for me.

They are able to associate the sound of plastic bags with food so when they hear it, they will come running! But there's also tons of other things to do in this park, i.e. fish, hike, jog, picnic, etc. There are tons of trails throughout the park and really great views of the ocean. Just remember that the park is maintained only by volunteers so be sure to keep the area clean!

While the Frederiksberg Have is big enough to have an actual castle, Søndermarken is also impressive and enormous. I only saw one part of it, and it was the part containing The Cisterns, a reservoir/dripstone cave/subterranean art exhibition space that once held the city's drinking water. Nothing you could hide under a humble neighborhood park where I live. We came here on rented bikes, and it was nice to ride through this glorious scenery. The path was smooth and clean, and the lawn was an incredible uniform green. It seemed to extend for a mile, interrupted only by a fountain and the twin entrances to The Cisterns, which protruded like mini Louvre pyramids. We didn't spend much time in the actual park, but its beauty did not escape us. I'm glad The Cisterns enticed us here during our bike journey through Copenhagen.

And, I use that term,"Tourist Attraction," lightly…read more It is said that this place is the home to many of those who live an alternative lifestyle in Copenhagen. They claim that this area is completely beyond the rules and the laws of Copenhagen. In some ways, that is pretty easy to see as the main street is lined with people selling weed and hash, which is still illegal in Denmark. Copenhagen is not Amsterdam. Though a bit sketchy, this city within a city is very well maintained. I am sure there is some other story going on here. ...One that we will never know. This being said, what you will find here is some of the best street art and graffiti that you will witness anywhere across Copenhagen. Of course, it is clearly stated all over the place, "No Photos." But, I'm guess that is more to keep the people dealing drugs safe and off the radar than anything else. One of the funny/interesting things I find about this location is that tour buses actually pull up to it. I don't know, maybe it's just me me, but if you are truly embracing an alternative lifestyle that all seems rather intrusive. Nonetheless, this is an interesting place. Even if all you do is look at the great street art, it is worth the visit.
