The music is phenomenal with many instruments and lighting effects. They of course read from scripture too. I'd say they balance it well between singing and preaching. Plenty of seating. The place is huge. Used to be a school before it became a church. There is also a nice coffee shop inside. The daycare has more than one section depending on the age range. Parking is great and in front and behind the building. There are 3 entrances on 3 sides of the building. You can enter from whichever one depending on where you parked.

I was a new visitor starting in early Jan 2012. I've since been to both the 10:30 a few times and their 9:00 AM a few times. Both a little different, but also the same. Good praise and worship time, great lessons, and most importantly, lots and lots of people being real. I don't do the brain-wash or the "leave your house in your will to us" stuff; I just like to go and give Him praise and glory. What a phenomenal place to do just that.

The cool thing is that it is a come as you are church where everyone is welcome and anyone can fit in. The worship is moving and current and appeals to also every type of person which is hard to find in a church. Pastor Darin makes everything relevant and applicable to working the message into the week. New Life helped start Refuge but it has a different flavor because it has a kind of Urban feel to the place. The parishioners are from all walks of life. So weather a person is professional, a musician, in recovery or white collar or blue collar, Refuge is for anyone which gives a special feeling of its own. God's word is the core and taught in a balanced way that is spirit filled and believes in our triune God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Right now Refuge is growing and meeting at The God Rock Cafe. There mission is just to love on the city of North Everett and the surrounding area by doing outreach, missions, events, connecting with businesses and schools. There is Free Coffee, Donuts, Bibles and resources. I feel so happy to have found this church.

From the first moment we entered the doors of this church we felt loved! Will the people in the church meet your expectations 100% if the time...absolutely not. Will they hurt your feelings...probably. If you're looking for a perfect church you won't find one because it's made up of people who NEED Jesus. If you want to see change in the church, do something about it, because everyone in the church IS the church. (Small rant over) But I can tell you this church pursues Jesus and they have walked my husband and I through some dark seasons. The teaching team there is AMAZING and the people are too! oh and the kids ministry is awesome too! Highly recommend.

The gospel singing and the quartet, were great and the human sing were powerful. We enjoyed the music tremendously. Now for the bad... They passed around a collection plate at about the end of the first hour. That's fine, but then we were told it wasn't good enough and about 30 min later they announced a second collection. Quite frankly I find that rude and insulting. People of this church need to understand that acts such as this is the reason that the church is getting smaller in America. They need to know that showing Gods love to people is the only way to reach out to your community. That relationships are the answer to growing the kingdom of God. Money helps, but Jesus never sent the basket around again after getting the 5 loaves and 2 fishes saying that it won't do, he needed more. If we are to be Christs representatives on this earth, we should act the same way and have faith that God will make miracles happen when we just step out and believe that He who created the universe out of nothing can also use us in a miraculous way.

Honestly, we looked forward to seeing what seasonal bit this creative group would come up with! We had always assumed a church with a sense of humor would align with our community's more progressive values, and the values of Christ himself: acceptance, compassion, empathy. However, I found this one to be extremely distasteful. We could have lived in ignorant bliss, assuming this church was a community we could see ourselves rooting for! But now that this less tasteful billboard has been posted, we did a little digging and are quite sure that isn't the case. How rich does your pasture have to be to afford some class? I wouldn't donate to this community if you do align your values with those of Christ.
