The reason I come back here over and over again is thanks to the compliments I'm constantly receive for my hair. I have long, relatively straight hair that is pretty much good to go as soon as I wake up. This salon has a lovely atmosphere to it, its trendy and hip- and it makes me feel 'cool' for being there. When you enter you are greeted by whoevers at the counter, there's usually a short wait (despite having an appointment booked), and you are always offered some sort of hot beverage. The magazines here are fashionable and new (no who weekly in sight) and the area is kept clean and hair free. I get 'guy' to cut my hair, it gets washed first, then blow dried and finally cut (no wet hair cutting). Usually take close to an hour (including waiting time at the start). I love this place and will probably stick with them forever. The price is definitely on the high side, but I say it's worth it.

He actually listens to what you say, only cuts your hair into a style that suits you and - best of all - doesn't cut in a manner that hastens the onset of split ends. Currently I'm sitting on the opposite side of the world but after some disasters I'll grow out my hair and wait until he can cut it again. The salon itself is hip happening. Sometimes the staff (not Frank) can seem a tad aloof but I think they're getting better and honestly, it's probably just because they're so busy all of the time. The head massages are to die for and make up for any perceived snootiness anyhow. Parking can be a witch, but if you park out in the 2 or 4 hour lots near the train station you'll be right. Do not park in front because if you're even a millisecond late back to the car, you will get fined. I'm told that Rokk Ebony prices are expensive but I think they're reasonable, especially for the great cut you'll walk out with. Can't wait to go back.

hmmmm. i didn't have a great experience here. it is SO hard to find a good hairdresser and this…read morejust makes me more panicked about finding someone decent. i went here because they were close to my house and they use goldwell dye. i wanted blonde foils into ombre pink. so blonde, pale pink to hot pink. i had a consult a couple of weeks before the actual appointment and it went really well, i felt like the hairdresser understood what i wanted. so i turn up for the appointment, and the hairdresser is there but i'm directed to a different hairdresser. this hairdresser goes through what i want again, and i'm okay with that. then someone else starts my blonde foils. then someone else starts the colour underneath. then another person does the pink, with instruction from the second hairdresser. i start to get really nervous. plus, i'm watching the original hairdresser i did the consultation with do the hair of walk ins. hello? if i book an appointment with YOU, i'd like you to do my hair. is that so much to ask?! goldwell dye... well, for me, it's hard to go wrong. i'm generally pleased with the colour. but that's the dye, not the hairdressing job. ombre is usually done by teasing the hair and then painting the colour on. they didn't do this, and the girl looked quite nervous throughout painting pink onto my hair. so the colour was not really close to ombre, it was more like a straight line. FAIL. they also used blonding cream on my ends. not sure if my ends are just totally damaged or what, but a lot of my hair started to break off. this has NEVER happened to me before. sigh... it also cost $280. and i had no balls to complain! so i'm doing it on the internet!

I awoke on my birthday feeling jetlagged as hell, and not particularly enthused to be celebrating. It was a true stroke of genius then that my little lady had organized for our day to start at ABFAB Spa & beauty. Groggily walking through the doors, I was welcomed by a clean and inviting space that had me feeling all kinds of cozy in no time. We were escorted through to the waiting area, given slippers and dressing gowns, and told to get our clothes off and head to the next waiting area. It was here that we reclined and drank green tea whilst listening to the soothing music, intended to take customers to a state of relaxation that we were soon in. We were then taken into the massage room, where we received hour-long full body massages, complete with hot stone treatments. The masseurs were fantastic, and when I told them they could go as hard as they liked, had my sore muscles feeling like jelly. The hot stone part of the treatment was great too, the stones rolling down your back and warming you all over. Afterwards, we wandered back in to the green tea room and chilled out a little before re-dressing and facing the world again. We left smiling, and although the jetlag was still there, we really didn't care.

The salon itself has a beautiful fragrant aroma that is pleasant from the moment you step in to the moment you leave. The staff are really attentive and will greet you promptly after entering. They run on appointment only but always seem to have a space free. They are easy to talk to as well. The last time I went I got a general trim. I have medium length hair and a full fringe and so it was a decent amount of cutting. My hair was washed, cut and blow dried to my specifications exactly and I even got a little head massage during the hair washing stage. It felt so good I would have paid extra for them to keep going! That cost me $55, which is a lot more than I usually pay but the quality was really good and I left feeling quite pampered. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a new hairdresser. The whole salon is clean and fresh and the atmosphere is really relaxed. This is where I should have made myself clearer that I wanted an asymmetrical bob with a small side shave (I got a laugh and a big no) not an A line but but neither of them seemed to understand and had already started cutting. I am satisfied with the outcome but it wasn't what I originally wanted but for the price and timing it worked out. If I was to come here again I would be more direct and bring lots of photos as a guide. on my 2nd visit they turned away a customer who wanted balayage as they didn't know how to do it and she even had a photo.
