My review is for the 4930 S. 30th St. Omaha, Nebraska 68107 location…read more I have been to multiple appointments for my pregnancy and so far, as far as I can tell, there is incompetence all around. I see a midwife there for prescription needs in addition to my pregnancy. They are quite neglectful, and you have to stay on them to get anything done, even things that you would never have to remind your ob/gyn to do. The midwife there that I worked with is Kara Higgins. I have not even been able to see the obgyn yet, which is ridiculous, since this is considered a high-risk pregnancy, I never should have to see the midwife, and she will not be there for the birth of my child. For whatever reason, she cannot get a prescription written correctly, even with me standing there, telling her how it must be written in order to have it filled correctly by the pharmacy and she argues with everything I say regarding *my* prescriptions. I shouldn't have to do that, since she has prescription-writing privileges like a doctor would, she needs to know how to do so competently, and unfortunately, it took multiple calls and several days to correct an error she made that never should have happened on highly-necessary medications. Then, while the problem was being slowly worked on, to my dismay, the midwife or nurse in charge of fixing the error, argued with the amount of items on my prescription, which had been discussed beforehand, and caused a lot of grief for the pharmacist, who told me I was dealing with incompetence, fully agreeing with me. It would have ended with being forced to accept the wrong amount of medication, having my insurance refuse to pay for the additional prescription written since they had already written a bad script and me paying a co-pay on a partial script. It is like they think I have all the money in the world to blow. I don't. I cannot fill more than one prescription of that particular item a month, and accepting their demands would have endangered my and my unborn child's health, and I refuse to do that. The second appointment I went to, the midwife informed me they were unable to get my previous medical records because "you refused to sign the release forms". Not even close to the truth. I was never so much as asked to sign such forms. Maybe they forgot to offer them, I don't know. In the end, I was insulted. The midwife said without my records they could not determine if I had the medical condition I claimed I had, and that I could just be a crazy person trying to get prescriptions, etc. I laughed. I understand people lie, but the illness I have does not utilize addictive schedule II drugs (I have some pharmacy education) and the medications have no street value, this is widely known. I told her I would happily sign any release form for past medical info, and I immediately signed the form. She practically ran out of the room. She is not a personable midwife, and can barely disguise her apparent dislike of me. The biggest problem is, she cannot seem to maintain her professionalism to provide adequate or quality medical care since she dislikes me and we disagree on one main point; I refuse to accept a flu shot while pregnant. When she told me I would receive one, I said, "No thanks. Have you ever seen a study proving those are safe for pregnant women?" She ignored me, and did not answer, just gave a subtle dirty look. And no, safety has not been established for flu shots in pregnant women and reports of miscarriages go up over 4,000% after women receive them while pregnant, and I will not be choosing to become a lab rat for anything or anyone. Even if that were not the case, I have beliefs that prevent me from accepting such medical products. Since the day that I refused, I have had nothing but problems with this woman, and I can only suspect it was because of my refusal of the flu shot since it was the only thing we had any registerable disagreement about. If this is the case, then she is violating patient rights. The pamphlet they hand out in her office states that they will work with you on providing quality medical care while respecting your religious beliefs. They apparently do not do that as they claim. So take caution. You might find them messing up your prescriptions or dragging their feet or not returning your or your phamacist's calls. Nobody deserves that kind of medical abuse just for disagreeing about their own medical care.
