Thankfully, we were led by locals to Autocon, where owner Nilton Contreras (a 10-year Army medic vet and father of six) and his brothers were so kind. We had to leave the car with them, so Nilton took us and our belongings to a hotel in the next city, and then we rented a car for the remainder of the trip until we could back to Autocon to retrieve my Buick. These brothers are amazing and truly care about their customers as individuals. They replaced the Buick's valve cover gasket with Buick parts and had the car ready in three days. So, when my car wouldn't start as I was getting ready to leave home, I was understandably full of dread. I took a chance and called Norman Auto. I had recently seen an ad & remembered that they would come to you to fix your car. When I called, Lacey answered. I was almost in tears as I described how I was late for work and my car wouldn't start. She said "OK, we want to get you going as quickly and safely as we can." She asked me if anything was leaking or smoking since that was no and the car was cool from sitting overnight, she asked me to open the hood and see if anything looked suspicious. I don't know anything about cars but with her guidance I realized the battery was crusty but I was scared to touch it. She said Jason was close by and he would be there shortly....shortly was less than 10 minutes! I said did you fly here? He chuckled and said "No ma'am, but don't say that near my mother-in-law, she for some reason thinks I drive too fast!" We laughed and he got busy cleaning my terminals and my car started!!! We determined that I had bought the battery from a parts store with a warranty and that I could get a replacement for free! He followed me over there, waited until I got the new one. The store would have changed it but he waited anyway. He wanted to make sure it was in properly. When we finished and he was satisfied I was going to be safely on my way, we settled up. He charged me very little because he said he barely did anything and he was close by. I said you made me feel safe and that's worth more than can be charged. I sent him double his asking price because I wanted to. He earned something bigger that day. He earned a loyal customer. He also earned a cheerleader. Small efforts done with integrity and honest will can reap huge rewards. Anytime anyone mentions needing a mechanic, I immediately start singing his praises! I've kept it up too. When my car started to be less and less reliable, Jason has always been there to give me all my options, let me make my best informed decisions and honored them to a T. I recently purchased a newer vehicle and I took it straight to him to inspect. He definitely saved me from a couple duds! I know that when I need it, that I can confidently call and he will be there to help. He says he can't fly but somewhere I think he's hiding a dented and greasy floating circle hat in one of those tool boxes! (Ps. I was traveling thru Hinesville, GA and need someone to look at my car - a funny noise, and oil leaking where it shouldn't. I searched the internet and found Craig's shop (Auto-Mobile Service and Repair) with existing good reviews and a BBB rating of A+ ! Very often a business in a small town, especially on a Saturday, close at 12pm. By 9:00am Craig had looked at the car - made a quick assessment, started calling around for the part; by 10:30am I knew how much it would cost, and how long it would take to fix. Maybe he could have taken advantage of my situation, but he certainly didn't! (a woman, an out of 'town-er', and someone needing to get back on the road) - The repair price was more than reasonable and everything was done perfectly. Craig was a man of his word and worked past his normal Saturday hours to help me (a stranger) out. He treated me with dignity and respect - and made the car repair experience a good one. It is now March 14 and Mr. Jones has not paid or mailed the amount agreed on. I sent a demand for payment letter and set a deadline for payment for February 21st. This deadline was not met. I have been in communication since then, trying to avoid filing a complaint in a small claims court, but Mr. Jones is somehow unable to send the payment. Avoid this business at all costs.
